Screenshots of MDK had such an unusual look, I was pretty curious but never came across the game, and nobody ever seemed to talk about it. This was neat to see.
The sniper vision and small cameras are pretty impressive specially for the time. The stylistic change from MDK1 to 2 gave me strong vibes akin to Medievil 1 to 2 watching the streams.
I gotten both games with several other Interplay classics on GOG in my first purchase a couple years ago, surprisingly cheap deal. I grew up with the PS1 version of MDK. I previously played an Dreamcast demo disc that included MDK 2 demo.
I think a better game to recommend from them would be Armed and Dangerous. It has that same humor in just a straight up Halo style shooter. It's one of those games where the humor alone makes it worth playing, but still has great shooting game mechanics.
MDK 2 highlights a big problem in other dev sequels and comical or “funny” videogame. The “joke” in the first MDK was “serious” in universe. Sure it was silly, surreal and bizzarre, but the game took the idea “seriously”, we the player (and the devs) knew it was silly. The sequel instead keep having the game took itself silly, meaning that many designs were “jokingly” created. And an another common problem in many comical games is that they are often wrote as comics or movies, so jokes are more in tone to a visual gag (that is controllable by the writer in non interactive fiction) and they get annoying fast. I hated mdk2, and loved MDK and Giants:Citizen Kobuto
On PC was a huge technical achievement, huge locations, interactive terrain, 3 way uneven multiplayer, bump-mapping and a solution similar to LODs. Also: Timmy!!!

Those reflective/transparent surfaces in MDK1 were so interesting at that level of technology.
Keep it up man you improve every video

Seeing that Gunta fight on stream was a fever dream 😂
Thank you very much!
OH man I remember the MDK2 adverts. The game looked super cool, I wanted it so bad for my Dreamcast but never even played it.
definitely worth a look! I didn't LOVE it but some neat stuff going on in it for sure
