    Now this guy is smart and works smart-- for one he just lifted the airflow duct up and out of the way without undoing 40 extra bolts. I can tell just from that he's got it going on.

    Nice. I’ve seen people use the newer 14+ Altima fans. I myself have a Mercedes E350 single fan. This swap definitely improves acceleration, but I think clutch fan is more reliable.

    • @garbinsgarage
      @garbinsgarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah it’s definitely more reliable. I have just gone through 3 clutches to not sounds like a dump truck. The max fan rpm was around 2500-3000 before it released and I was a straight Peter built

    Nice simple mod. but that oem shroud is important. My 07 Nismo 4x4 has never overheated and on a hot day coolant Temps are only 195 at its highest with 250k miles plus on the block. If you've already overheated I'd check the head gasket or the heads might be warped

    • @garbinsgarage
      @garbinsgarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve never overheated. It’s gotten a little hot in the past front failed parts but always shut off

    • @pineychristian
      @pineychristian ปีที่แล้ว

      Oem shroud will do nothing when those fans he mounted don't match the shroud. The E fans have their own shroud. If fan and shroud doesn't match it will not pull air correctly. His set up is very good compared to oem fans....

    I am currently working on prepping the Z1 Offroad all aluminum radiator bundle for my '06 Pathfinder and am going electric with the fans. I am using Perma cool fans and the same controller as you. Is there anyway to get a mid-speed and full speed option from just the controller? I messed with the fan at home and tested with an LED light dimmer, which did control the speed but that was just testing; looking for a more applicable solution for installing the fans in the engine bay. 🤔

    • @garbinsgarage
      @garbinsgarage  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mo4low it’s possible to do so, but you may even need two controllers. The way that these fans are wired it will change the speed depending on which pins have power. Theoretically, all you need is another circuit to provide power to the extra pin. the controller I used is just a single relay essentially. When it reaches the target temp, it closes the circuit if you had two of them you could do it.

  • @PDRIFT86
    @PDRIFT86 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I'm going to do this to my 2006. Did you leave the temp sensor in the top hose of the radiator or did you relocate it?

    • @garbinsgarage
      @garbinsgarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean there no point of having it. The e fans have there one shroud that grips the radiator. If I was to do it again though I you keep the fan clutch abs shroud but add 2nd factory electric fan in the right side also.

    • @NKaumans
      @NKaumans 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@garbinsgarage yeah it's a interesting design how they used a pull fan configuration on the electric. Since it requires the clutch fan shroud to have large gaps where the electric fan needs to mount .

    Would these fit on a 2014 Nissan Armada?

    • @garbinsgarage
      @garbinsgarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe the armada has a bigger radiator and these fans may not put out a enough to cool the VK56 engine (5.6 v8). However, you can use the single electric fan from a Dodge ram truck that run for about $150-200 on Amazon. As long as you can wire electronics and somehow make a custom mount then it’s definitely possible.

      Not really. The factory fan clutches will lock and unlock because of the fluid coils temp sensor on the front. If you have a bad fan clutch that is always locked and screaming like a dump truck it’ll definitely create more drag but not much. Probably 1/4 mpg
