      if you have a 1 pin temp sensor how you wire it to your gauge on your dash board so you can see it on your dash with a 1 pin temp sensor?

    After having my radiator fan bust up my radiator after breaking off its mount I am upgrading from a pulley fan to an electric fan while I replace my radiator and this was exactly what I needed to help make sure I had not missed anything when installing it. Hi Sir you have explained how everything is wired up & some guys use pin 86 as ground & pin 85 as power on the 12volt Relay & I tested the 12volt 100Amp waterproof Relay & I followed your wiring the same way as you have Sir pin 86 Pin as power & pin 85 as ground on the relay & it works really well indeed & I tested it with a led light bulb & later on I will get an 12Volt radiator electric cooling fan unit & has 2500CFM with a 90 watt electric fan motor & so should work really well to & the radiator electric cooling fan unit will be installed inside the radiator & will have straight fan blades as you get better air flow than curved electric fan blades & radiator electric cooling fans that are installed in front of the radiator don't get better cooling than a radiator electric cooling fans that are installed inside the radiator as the engine & engine components get by far better cooling when radiator electric cooling fan units are installed inside the radiator & I have seen on Utube some of the guys have installed the radiator electric cooling fan units have installed them in the front of the radiator & one particular Utube channel has installed a very big radiator electric cooling fan unit & has installed in the front of the radiator & because he couldn't install it inside the radiator as there was no room to install the electric fan unit & having unit probably could get cooling but the is a smaller radiator electric cooling fan unit installed at the front of the radiator & probably wouldn't get that much cooling as it would be installed inside the radiator & probably also didnt have the room to install the electric fan unit that I'm getting will be inside the radiator & the 14"inch fan should work really well to & having 2500CFM air flow should keep everything nice & cool for the Toyota 3.4V6 engine & doing away with the clutch fan unit Kind Regards Peter & have a Lovely Nice Christmas Day Sir

    3 years ago my truck caught fire because of a pretty bad wiring work. I decided not to give up on her and worked hard to bring her back to life... and I succeeded mechanically speaking. However, I had been always scared of dealing with electricity and wires because nobody was patient enough to explain things to me like if I was a 5 yes old kid... that was until I found your channel. Thanks to you I was not only able to completely wire my rig - rock crawler - but I have now understood the reasons behind every connection... Honestly, I cannot find the proper words which can emphasize my deep appreciation and gratitude to you... Thank you for sharing your knowledge...

I am not watching to gain the knowledge for automotive reasons (although now I know), instead I am searching for a clever no-solder solution to the always on tiny 24v cooling fan for the hotend of my 3D Printer. Perfect! I wired mine up last night, minus the temp sensor. I added it along with my clutch fan. Since I have a temp sensor with a gauge, I will only activate the electric fan when it reaches 185 degrees. Other than that I will rely on my trusty, old faithful clutch fan! My 67 Mustang 460 big block has two push fans with relays and no manual toggle switch. It was overheating at the car show the other day. It was like 98 outside. I want to add manual toggle switch to turn it on before it get too hot. I run two relays, I assume on for each fan.? Wish me luck. Cheers from Motown.

    2 questions. What would cause the relay to fail?
    How critical is the circuit breaker?

    • @WiringRescue
      @WiringRescue  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Relays fail if they are in harsh environments (hot/cold/wet), old, or if they are handling more electricity than what they are rated for. They also have a lifespan too, which is often listed with them online.
      A circuit breaker or fuse is necessary. People like circuit breakers for fans because they draw a lot of amperage when they start, and then don’t draw nearly as much when they are running. Sometimes fuses have a tough time managing that and you need to run a bigger fuse or a slow burning one.

  • @stansronuc3934
    @stansronuc3934 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Very informative video and I really appreciate the simplicity of it.
    Can you include the amperage of the fuses and wires you use and what effect a wrong amperage fuse, switch, or wire might have on these systems.
    All in all, you're doing great. ❤

    • @WiringRescue

      It’s common for under hood relays and temperature sensors to go bad, so those would be a great place to start. Swap out the relay for a different one under the hood. Sometimes you can use a headlight relay or similar. Also the temp sensor is probably 1 wire, if you ground that wire with the key on, the fans typically kick on. Good luck!! I’m cheering for you!

    Really great video with clear example. My 88 Civic is having issues where my fans will not turn on. The car doesn’t overheat because I’m not setting in traffic and it’s a big radiator for the small 1.5L engine. I want to repair the circuit and also run a manual on/off switch.

    I so enjoyed this video and so detailed. I love it. So I was thinking of wiring that same fan onto the bottom of my engine bay panel and wire it up to the turbo timer that when I shut down the car the timer will run the fan for a count down timer and then turn of allowing the engine bay to cool down. Yours thoughts would be appreciated.

    • @WiringRescue
      @WiringRescue  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That sounds like it would definitely work. Just make sure you use a relay, and control the relay with the turbo timer (going to pin 86). Also , you’ll need a good battery, because fans use a lot of electricity. Good luck with the project and thanks for watching!

I just bought a fan and a wiring kit (probably the exact same kit, from the look of it), it didn't come with instructions, your video confirms what I'd guessed - in particular, what the mysterious little tin box labelled 'Batt' and 'Aux' is (it's the circuit breaker) and where in circuit to put it.

    Thanks for the explanation.
    I watched over a dozen other videos on youtube by so called DIY guys that said an extra relay was required for a manual over ride switch for the cooling fan.
    I was pretty sure it didn't need a 2nd relay; and it could be done with a trigger signal on the existing relay. Like how you grounded it out, thank you for confirming my suspicion on that 👍

      Generally two fans means two relays. You’d split the trigger wire coming off the sensor and send it to both relays. You’ll have two fuses (or circuit breakers), the switch wire would split and go to both relays. You may also want to check this video out on wire and fuse sizes. I think it’s really helpful if you’re somewhat new to wiring. th-cam.com/video/EhzN6UdnmPA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=vE0-eEehmlKVw7m5

    Very well done and explained. Thanks for taking the time to make this video. Only thing I do different is instead of ignition power to the relay, I give it power all the time even with the key off. What this does is allow the fan to run for about a minute after the engine is shut off and it really does a lot to cool down the engine bay. Just keeps everything from heat soaking after you get done driving. And then it shuts itself off like normal. If anyone wires it this way, just don't forget to flip your manual fan switch off, because obviously it will run on and kill your battery.

    Thanks for the video. Great Job, I wathched your other videos on circuits. Question, how does the current temperature guage sending unit work with the fan circuit? It seems I can not use the same sending unit for both, because the temperature sending unit has a much larger range.

    • @WiringRescue
      @WiringRescue  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! You are totally correct. Typically one is a “temperature switch” (turns on and off for the fan), and the other is a “temperature sensor”, which is a resistor and used for the gauge. The one for the gauge is often 1 wire. The fan is often 2 wires.
