I purchased it Lee but I just hope they fix the AI suicide drivers. Also when a customer gets me to drop them off on a pavement I get fined, but you have to park in those marked areas.
Hope it gets sorted. This seems to be a recurring deja vu for all these simulations.

I think it is because we know that someday a title will be produced that really does what it says on the tin. We have always been on the receiving end of empty promises of an update here and there, yet nothing. Could the next title be the one??
I refer to the 'Alaskan Road Truckers'. Now this is one title that I am looking forward too. I am hoping that it is not just another burning flame to put our already scarred hands into.

Excellent video, Lee. Very much appreciated the clear and honest opinion. I’m almost certain I’ll be picking this up in the future but, as with most sim titles, I’m gonna wait to see how it develops.

Look at ETS2. Wonderful game that continues to be fleshed out and improved upon, over a decade after its initial release.
This is what I, and I’m sure yourself, really want from titles like Taxi Life. To still be playing it a few years down the road, with map DLCs being just one example of how it can be improved.
Sadly, this will most likely be abandoned after a few patches leaving us with the familiar feeling of what might have been.
That aside, great idea for a video. Content of this nature deserves to do well.
Unfortunately most developers now have a publisher that gives them a budget to stick too , they pump out a couple of DLCs and move on , SCS software is a one off , and I don't think we will ever see a franchise like ETS and ATS supported in that way by anyone else in the industry , sad really !
Have +15 hours in the game and can say its the best driving game ever. AI is the problem, but AI is fairly good compared to other games, and is absolute no problem when driving around (can look a little funny sometimes). The driver experience is brilliant when using steering wheel, and it works just as good as Truck- or Euro sim. Brilliant game all the way and with a great dept.. Only bad side is: Once every twice hour you need to "call the police" because the AI takes to much time or cant finish - but that is absolute not bad compared to other AI - still a thing to be improved to go to a surely first place in this genre.
Great vid Lee. I can put up with bad AI but the lack of steering wheel support is holding me back from purchasing. If they added that I would buy it instantly.

When I heard that there was no wheel support for consoles I decided not to get it. But, after watching several streamers I changed my mind again and decided to purchase it. And I am very pleased that I did as I have been enjoying the game very much.
And, thinking of doing the same drive again, I am guessing that happens irl as well. Such as someone getting a taxi to or from a shop. They probably would do the same every week, or month. Just one example I can think of, so that wouldn't bother me to much.

As a taxi driver is the same things most days
if they can do it like ATS or ETS then it'll be awesome. Cos they're basically the same thing, one deliving cargo and one delivering people and pretty much a mini bus driver simulator.
From watching Lees streams i really enjoyed the emerson driving aspect and the unpredictable AI drivers, but the one reason which turns me a little off- is the pedestrians at the crossing and also the npc's walking in general which look a little unnatural *but beside that i do understand it is a Indie title and a strictly driving Sim. Basically it is a really fun Sim to watch on youtube.

I have a wheel so obviously was hoping for it to be supported.
Bought it anyway and tbh im not that bothered. Having fun with it as it is .
I play mainly AAA titles and they have so many more bugs than this has . Half the price also.

People should definitely wait until it has more controller wheel support. It's only partially supported on PC with wheel support right now not on consul.
I've been reading in the discord about issues with wheel support on PC , it's not great is it , in fact as I said in the video , it's shambolic
They need:
- More maps
- Better AI
- Better Support for Steering Wheels
- Mouse Steering Support like ATS/ETS2/Beamng etc
Agree with all of that buddy , I'm 30 hours + now into the game , and already I'm feeling the fatigue set in !

It seems the dev bit more than they could chew. They underestimated the scope of the project. And by looking at the game, I could tell they're amatuers who just learned Unreal Engine
The more I play the more I see wrong with it , I'm just hoping in time that they fix the issues

Great concept but poorly executed. No wheel support on a driving game! Really poor AI for a 2024 game and like you I've been playing for a while and already have had repeated journeys. Havnt a lot of hope for the game as their Train sim game still has bugs even now.

On PC there is wheel support
I mentioned train life in the video , it doesn't bode well does it ,.although the social media post mentioning that they are aware of issues and fixing them is Good

Honestly on series X? I had to take it off my internal SSD drive and put it away on my external till they fix this. The amount of pop ins and re-draws in the distance is unacceptable as well as the frame drops. The stuttering it’s just crazy and the AI seems like it’s programmed either by Stevie Wonder Ray Charles
Also I’m sitting in a $750 racing chair. With a $3000 steering set up, as well as haptic feedback under the chair only to be sitting in it playing with a $60 controller.
In cyberpunk did a 180.
I hope the studio does the same. But for now I think I’ll go back to AC racing Which is beyond smooth with about 30 cars next to me racing as smooth as butter

@@joe-mt9jolol I had to say. I had to get my moneys worth Hahahha. Honestly I hope they come up with an update soon. This game is almost unplayable. We’re on week two now and I’m super bored. I don’t think there’s enough there for longevity with this game anyway. I think it’s a great concept but it’s going to get repetitive super fast unless they come up with unlocks in the new sections.
Great game, would be better if you could connect like your Spotify account to the game - a feature that could be added. Also exploring more countries would be good like Portugal etc

I'm enjoying the game. But like you I had the same issues of NPC characters doing anything to take money off me. I'd be parked at the lights and someone will hit me. Hopefully they add the greyed out areas, frustrating they never left that in the game.
It's so annoying to the point I turned the game off on Friday night , several rear end smashes , NPCs on suicide missions , I had enough and played something else

There is minimal wheel support at the moment buddy so I very much doubt it , but if you join the discord they can probably answer the question better than I can !

It's Nacon, they are the ones who wanted a franchise of Life simulation games like Train, Chef, Taxi etc and they subcontracted out the projects to 3rd party developers. If Nacon is no longer interested in Train Life due to low sales, no way they are going to continue to fund that project. Hence, no more support from the developer.
They have to at least go back and fix the issues , I can understand not going back to add more content !
I will buy this game but I think I will wait until the bugs have been done. & I am still playing fernbus at the moment so I will wait. Thanks for the video

Pedestrians on crossing should dash out of the way. That would fix it but then I guess they want the penalty as a challenge. Also frame rate drops during hard braking are a nightmare. And we could use LOADS more customisation.

I was the same at first , but slow it down ,.30 in the back streets 50 on the main roads nice and steady , and the game really opens up for you !
well the game looks great the game as great potential if the devs listen to us simmers and thats a big if ill wait and see if and when we get wheel support one thing i dont like is driving on the path to pick up a customer hope that gets sorted so yeah ill see how it is after a few patches

I purchased it for ps5.. all the bugs are there, but above all ps5 screen stucking sometimes for a few milli seconds and low fps problem is there.. they need to fix the bugs as well as work on the optimization
They posted yesterday that they are Aware of issues and are actively working on them !

Thank you for this very detailed review! I preordered the game and was so excited to play. I have it on PS5 and have been playing it the past couple days. It’s been just Ok. The lagging is really noticeable on PlayStation. It’s almost like the game can’t handle if I speed up the car. I was a bit frustrated with how the pedestrians behave. Literally stopping in the middle of the street and turning around. I’ve started actually speeding up to beat them from getting in front of my car. I also was disappointed that the character boss of the taxi company had very limited options. There are female employees you can hire but you can’t be a female taxi boss apparently. This seemed a bit odd to me since the pedestrians and clients also have females. It is a relaxing game though to play. I like operating my taxi at night when there aren’t many other cars around and I will turn on my Spotify and just drive around. Overall I think it’s an OK game but for the $40 price tag, I think it should have more features and less bugs.

I was on the fence for buying this game, but I think I will hold off untill everything is ironed out. It's gonna be train life for me just a little bit longer.

In regards to wheel support have you ever thought that they found a bug so they had to dich it in the last minute. And as for being tedious it's a taxi sim that's you taxi drivers do just drive to the same places Iver and over again.
Some great points there, buddy ! I'm regards to wheel support I have no idea , that could of possibly of been the issue ! Although that was 2 months ago , many other driving sims on console have wheel support , so a.fix should of been in place already I reckon ,.who knows !
As with the game becoming tedious ! Yes you are correct a real life taxi driver would repeat journeys etc.... but this is a video game ! And yes it is there to simulate a taxi life ! But maybe having more variation in the journeys and not having them repeat so often would be a great addition .

@CGDGAMES you need to think of it as they are a small team it's not an AAA game. I'm sure thay doing all they can to get things as they should be. And with the maps it might be coming in a dlc or you may need to unlock them. Its still early days

great review, lee. i like the feel and look of the game, but the bugs i experienced were so annoying, i refunded it. i might rebuy it later if it gets patched.

I must say, if a company already has previous of not fixing simple bugs in their previous title, you shouldn’t really be recommending their game - was n principle. I know it’s subjective, but these companies need to be taught a lesson. Other than that small gripe, thanks for the review mate.
First of all thanks for checking the video out , secondly it's not a review , it's more of an overlook of the game where I point out it's premise , it's flaws and it's quality's , then people can make their own minds up , I did say I am enjoying the game at the time of recording and I did say I was worried how long that enjoyment would last !
A full review of the game after over 30 hours of gameplay is currently in the works , and trust me , it's a lot different than this !

I'm liking the game with my wheel. Much better control. Im not minding the ai. It keeps me on my toes n it's just different then the boring everyone doing the same thing. I like ai stopping for me when pulling out. I'm not saying I like all the AI bugs it's weird with flying cars and such. I'm not minding the crashing tho. Keeps it interesting. Yes I do agree with the longevity of the game. Need more DLC n more interaction with speaking with clients.

The prices are really off in this game... 😮 10 EUR for a liter of gas?? 400 EUR for a 5 minute taxi ride? 🤔 Also the map is really limited at the beginning... Will it expand as I progress in the gameplay?
This is intention to meet the demand for prices of vehicles and wages , it's an inflated economy system , which doesn't meet real world economy ! On the other end of the scale the vehicles are cheap !
If you had real world fares like $20 for a medium job , imagine the grind ! Hence why fuel etc... is expensive
The map you see now , is the map ! It doesn't unlock anymore !

Looks like half of the city is unavailable to discover, there is a virtual wall that doesn't allow me to enter the upper half of the map 🤔

You can easily remove the "on consoles" part there. Yes, there is in THEORY wheel support on PC, but only for 6 wheels, all of them old and outdated, and not even for old and good wheels like the Thrustmaster T300.
I played on my Thrustmaster T300 and it works, with force feedback. But TH8A shifter is not supported

@@gobo2093Possibly they or their QA company only tested the game with those wheels, so they can't say publicly that other wheels work for sure
Because when you add support for Logitech or Thrustmaster you use a manufacturers library, so it covers most of the wheels produced by that company
As Ive previously stated the whole wheel support is shambolic , for a driving sim they should have had somebody on this task solely ! Testing and developing support for as many makes and models as possible !
Sadly I think this could get boring quite quickly. Will keep an eye on it, and hopefully they will improve the bugs. Maybe a sale purchase?

No wheel support for a driving game in 2024 is awful. I bet there's wheel support on PC. These devs can do one for me. Yet another console cash grab, and to be honest I was never convinced about a taxi sim anyway. Felt like a cop out rather than sticking to proper transport simulation. Barcelona too...might as well be Bognor Regis

Definitely a no buy until one sees they have fixed the game to a acceptable level, we have seen this dev just abandon games before (train life )

After Train Life, I'll skip this, I can cope with the lower framerate in Train Life due to the nature of the game. This one, nope. Why are Simteract so adverse to creating 60fps simulators?
I had high hopes once again , the novelty has already worn off
not a good game the handling of the car is terrible really terrible and some of the streets are small really small my first fare got me 300 and cost me 1500 to fix the car if you hit a pedestrian its mission over so i only do short trips the map is a bit small and the satnav tells you go through parts of map that aren't open its the handling of car that kills the game for me the rest of the controls are bad to. and the bug on the windscreen

Shame your not enjoying it , the streets are purposely small as thats how they are in Barcelona , I tend to take really easy in those areas at about 30 kmh , and 50 on the main roads , this helps me maintain control of any situation ahead of me ! Game looks like its running at 20 fps at best.
Shadows are popping in at 50m in front of the car. The physics look jonky. There is some sort of radial or shadow blur following everything that moves. Not to mention the grainy look.
Saying this looks good is a joke. It's a cheap-ass cash in riding a Genre, and I'll die on my sword. It will never get better other than 25 paid DLC's. Released in under 12 months because they were assets in the game they removed to resell to you later.

bought it refund with in 10 mins on pc says my wheel is supported but game wont load with wheel connected will load if i unplug the g920
