Same for me, when I was young I wanted a game like this so bad. For a very small game company this looks really good and fun. it's not Assetto Corsa level realism and not ETS 2 level world fun and driving but it definitely gets the job done and you can see effort put into it.
me and the Japanese side of the Gran Turismo community used to hold driving lobbies on GT5 and GT6. not like cop vs robbers but we would all just get into boring cars and roleplay in parking lots or minor fender benders lol.
As somebody who used to live and drive in Barcelona, the fact that you arrived 5 minutes ago and now you are a certified late night Crazy Taxi driver who cuts up traffic and parks on pedestrian crossings is very authentic. A++++ 10/10
Bad reviews are probably because some wheels are not compatible with this game. And even H-shifter is not used on this game which is something people wanted to see.
Nope, its because of the glitches, some bad mechanics the controls and the small city, also some scenario that we dont know if they are bugs or scripted
@@LivrusNay Yes, for me, the initial starting of the car using the glitch doesn't work. I have to use the paddle to make the car move. After the car first move, the manual mode works fine. However, the feeling of using manual isn't as good as another car simulation game. So I used back auto.
I got the game on PS5 on launch and I grinded it the first day for hours. I honestly enjoy it. However, there are some weird bugs like flying cars and people. Also, NPCs are sometimes acting pretty strange walking out in the street randomly not paying any attention to lights or traffic. It doesn't ruin the fun for me, though. When you start hiring staff it kind of gets a little difficult as they only work when you do. This does not make sense, as you cannot run a 24 hours service unless you work 24 hours yourself. This should be rectified. Otherwise a good game.
@@wavybump, have you even played the game? If you have, then you would also have noticed that when you get near any pedestrian crossing then the NPCs are all suddenly passing back and fourth, even at green light for the cars. It seems like the code makes them more likely to pass when cars get near.
Objectively I can see validity with some of the complaints, but it’s not a bad game from what I see here. It seems to have an attention to detail that I like in games like these.
It's an awesome game. However on PS5 there's a lot of lag going on. Especially in first person view the fps go under 30. Apart from stuttering and milisecond freezes it's enjoyable. But it definitely needs performance updates
@@Jza-GZa40k I noticed that as well when starting to play but I found out that you can adjust steering sensitivity in the game settings and it's much better now. @@nichescenes No there are genuine issues with this game, and most of the criticism is fair. For example, many people pointing out the AI are not "negative nancies" or "nitpicking". In my save, AI kept crashing into me. BTW when you drive a manual car, you rarely use the handbrake at stops; you keep your foot on the brake; the fact that the car roll is pretty realistic as this is how it works IRL
Yeah I have since moved to the sim gearbox and drive it manually and you hold the brake. I was doing that with the automatic since the left trigger is bound to reverse as well in that mode
You very much can use the parking brake/e-brake on a manual to stop it from rolling. This is what big trucks do to prevent rolling back down a hill before getting into gear and pulling away. You put the gear in neutral, put on the parking brake or e-brake, and you aren't going anywhere. If you leave it in gear, well, you'd need to also release the clutch for anything to happen, and if you aren't on the brake or gas, the engine would stall when you release the clutch.
@@eduardopena5893 Trucks, yes; in all my years driving a car or box truck/pickup with manual gearbox, I never used the handbrake while driving, unless I was drifting or was going uphill and didn't want to burn the clutch . I find more natural to keep gear in, and press clutch and brake until I need to go
@@jfavignano Looks like auto is broken then, as it should stop you in place and not roll back :) At most would roll forward if you don't hold the brake. But the game looks nice beside that

While I also like the game, as it's exactly what I expected it to be (namely, the chill open-world sandbox driving / company management gameplay of Euro Truck Simulator 2 remade with taxis), the current "Mixed" reviews are still justified, as the game has plenty of shortcomings when it comes to both technical presentation and overall quality of life: - Traffic AI is really atrocious now, with AI vehicles often stopping for no reason in high speed limit areas, failing to properly navigate in intersections and roundabouts, frequently rear-ending the player at red lights, or otherwise getting stuck at crosswalks. Pedestrian AI is not better either, with many of them either walking aimlessly on sidewalks, or moving erratically on crosswalks (often stopping in the middle of the road, or turning around and leaving the crosswalks). From a company (Simteract) which supposedly develops educational driving simulators with their own in-house Traffic AI library (at least this is what they claim on their website), seeing such atrocious AI is truly surprising. - There is limited support for steering wheels right now, with plenty of wheel sets supported only to a limited extent (e.g. the wheels and pedals of certain sets are supported, but their shifters are not). There is also no official VR or head tracking support. For a game which aims to re-create the gameplay of Euro Truck Simulator 2 (and thus aiming for the same player base who expect these features to be available for maximum immersion) screwing these up was quite a dealbreaker for many gamers (even though I suppose they are rather a vocal minority in this case). - While the game overall runs good (I play it on a dated i7-4790 + GTX 1070 combo), players reported micro-lagging and fps spikes that occur regardless of configuration, visual settings and the intensity of the rendered scene. Some additional optimization will go a long way. - The game has plenty of obviously half-finished features. There are no female avatars; Setting a company name, colors and logo has no use right now (as they don't appear anywhere); There is no dynamic weather (while there's a chance for wet roads, all the raining happens "off-screen" while being in the garage); And the game always shows only one person getting in the taxi even if the fare involves several passengers (the rest of them just spawn in the car after the animation). - There is no true ultra widescreen support. Playing in 21:9 or 32:9 resolutions cuts down the top and bottom of the rendered screen (compared to 16:9 resolutions). They either need to implement proper support for these resolutions or add an FOV slider. - While the drivable cars and the hand-made map props look nice, the cityscape is otherwise pretty bland, likely populated with assets from the Unreal Marketplace. The cars of the AI traffic look especially dated, and only consist of about 10-15 different vehicles. There are also no trucks, motorcycles, mopeds or bicycles in the traffic (despite the map featuring plenty of bike lanes, for example). So yeah, while I really enjoy the game, it definitely needs further polish and quality of life enhancements. Which I'm not sure the game will get, considering the short post-launch history of Train Life, the previous game of Simteract and Nacon, which was left in a quite incomplete state.
Just got this game today as well. Enjoying it very much. Most of the negative reviews on stream are just cause they drop the ball on wheel support for many wheels, but for me, the game itself is fun for what it is.
Seems like a reasonably nice little game with a lovely city scenery. Love the view and the graphics to give you a descent gaming and viewing experience while exploring the city. I wonder if you can do free world driving like in other sims without having to do a job.
Looks ok to me. Now I'm wondering what all the fuss is about. I don't have a wheel so I don't play driving sims, but I did always like them back in the day (even tried some simple wheel and own ets2)
I don't know if you actually plan on ever touching the game again, but Semi-Arcade makes it so that you can hold the brake and it won't put you into reverse, and I believe X and Y (xbox) changes gears from D, N, R (no idea what it does on a Manual Gearbox) but at least this resolves the constantly rolling back issue since stopping puts you into Neutral and you're apparently always at a slight incline in the game?
Yeah, other than some of the wheels not being compatible, I don’t see why this would have so many negative reviews. I come from a wide range of sim games like MSFS to firefighter sim and I’m very impressed of how authentic the traffic is especially compared to police sim where the AI are absolutely horrible so I’m definitely going to be supporting this game 👍🏾
The weird AI-behavior aside, I would simply love this game, once it has at least Track-IR and stick-shift compatibility implemented. It`s not too much to ask, since it works perfectly well with ETS 2, ATS and even City Car Driver.
@@wavybump OK The stick seems to work, only problem is, that my clutch pedal is not recognized. Any idea, what I could do about it? BTW TrackIR or similar is an absolut must. Finding the buttons to look left or right on a constantly spinning wheel is somewhat annoying.
@@Kek365 graphic-wise taxi life beats city car driver by a landslide, but when it comes to steering immersion including headtracking, let's say, there is a lot of room for improvement for taxi life
I don´t live in Barcelona, but I do live in Spain and I can say the drivers are very accurate. The Spanish are good at many things, but driving is not one of them 😉
Imo the graphics are just fine and I like them. The issue is the terrible performance on PS5. Especially in first person view it drops under 30 fps with constant lag. I really hope they'll soon bring out a patch
I just picked this up myself (after being wary/confused by the reviews) and I honestly love it. It's what I wished CrazyTaxi was years ago as a kid. Plus, I get to 'practice driving' in my room when I don't get to actually go out and drive.
It's a bit buggy. Some cars stop in the middle of the road for no reason (happened to you at around 14:09) and there were times when pedestrians cross a narrow street over and over, not giving you a chance to move forward. I'd say play more so you can see these issues and they become big issues whenever you're stuck in traffic because a car wouldn't move. I think this game is better to get on sale rather than on release. Unless they fix the bugs of course, but its developers are known for abandoning Train Life so who knows....
I actually really like this game. Yes it has a couple of issues but nothing game breaking and hopefully the devs will fix it. Some of the AI vehicles get stuck and also you get people crossing the crose walks going back and forth over the same crossing
I bet you the negative reviews are for parallel parking in the training. When i took my exam they didnt require me to parallel park and few know how to do so in my state
My only 2 issues are the performance on PS5 with random frame drops, and the AI has moments where it just runs into the back of me when I'm stopped at a red light for some reason.
3:44 Why can't Americans not use roundabouts properly? When entering a roundabout, unless you are taking the first exit, you indicate left and then switch to right indicator when you are going to exit (this is for right lane drive countries). You're welcome.
The way you have to drive in this is very reminiscent of Crazy Taxi way back on the PS2. The physics were atrocious on that game but man I played that game constantly.
Game looks good but the fact that I possibly can't use my T818 makes this a no-buy... (just tried it with a pirated version- I do that before buying anything, it does not work and there's no possibility to bind anything)
wonky transmission, dumb ai, traffic lights not synchronized with the vehicles, bunch of non sense accidents, i mean there's plenty of things wrong with this game, far from a RELEASE version! Should still be in beta.
My only problem so far with the game is that see some cars crashing into you. Or pedestrians just walk over the crossing when your about to drive over it
I think its not very popular game because you drive a cab only in Barcelona Spain instead of give players a choice to pick up other big cities like Tokyo , LA , NY and so on . Jeff how come you don't get into Star Citizens world ?!
Cant drive with fanatec, cant drive with moza, cant drive with TRM, No Angle-Settings, No POV-Settings.. AI driving like drunk people, horrible... And thats called simulator...
Tmartn2 just did a video on this yesterday it was good he’s not the best at taking it slow 😂. But I’ve seen all ur bus simulators and I think this gonna be a very enjoyable game to play and I’m along for the ride Jeff
Jeff, your commentary is funny ! You got passengers in the back but they don't show in the rear view mirror. Does this support racing wheel at all ? Cheers
People who say that the game is bad or boring, they were expected to be able to shoot at the cops while they are carrying out a bank robbery or fly on a plane to the other side of the map. In other words, for these people any game that involves cars has to be a GTA clone.
I just saw some Q&A from the DEVs and they said that wheels will work. too bad. Can't believe this is such a missed opportunity. in 2 months this game will be old news and something new will be out. :(
I've been playing this game for a week nou and I find it very enjoyable. The city looks amazing. The buildings and trees are spectacular. However, the movement of the AI people and cars still need a lot of work. The pedestrians sort of slide around when they turn and they walk like they had an accident in their pants. The cars slam on the brakes a lot instead of braking more gradually. I would also like to have camera movement in first person for when you turn, like in the truck simulators. Do NOT hit pedestrians cause then you get a fine and you lose your fare. Despite all this I really like this game!
The whole point of a (Round-about) is to not impede the flow of traffic with traffic lights or stop signs. This game does it all wrong. Never have I ever entered one and encountered a traffic light.
No they do exist, when a roundabout is very big they sometimes get traffic lights. I wouldn't call them roundabouts though. More of a poorly thought out circular road. For instance, there's one I have have to deal with every so often at 47.262234, -1.583458 Notice the tram line cutting through it? Yes, it's a nightmare.
I think for me at least, there's just enough performance issues and jank that it gets in the way of my enjoyment of the the game. I get some stutter every couple of blocks on the PS5 and the AI is just wacky enough at times that it becomes annoying but also not wacky enough that its hilarious. I love the core loop of this game though and just like Police Simulator, of they can work out the performance issues and keep up support, this can definitely end up as a go-to soothing game for me. For now though, my initial experience doesnt inspire much confidence.
@@nichescenes Kinda, I mean you can drive crazy and the game won't stop you in my experience (unless you hit a pedestrian) but at least with my admittedly limited time so far, driving crazy isn't particularly satisfying IMO. Several elements in the game including the more sim like weight of the cars, the amount of obstacles and the design of the city (a good amount of speed bumps for example) generally discourage the Crazy Taxi approach. I'm playing it on a controller though and I've been messing around with the steering sensitivity so a wheel might feel different along with a higher sens. The game as a whole feels more akin to Bus Simulator than to Crazy Taxi.
Hi guys! I use the game with a logitech drving force GT and it works completely fine, but in the game the wheel only turns by 90 degrees in both ways. The car itself turns correctly but visually the wheel only turns 90. Can you help me? Its annoying.
To be honest it's ALl Ways pc players that Put negative comments about a game. Just because there's so many simulating games on PC. @@wavybump OK The stick seems to work, only problem is, that my clutch pedal is not recognized. Any idea, what I could do about it?
BTW TrackIR or similar is an absolut must. Finding the buttons to look left or right on a constantly spinning wheel is somewhat annoying.
What’s better taxi life or city driver ?
@@Steevee5k that's horrible hopefully this fix it soon 🙏. trucking and logistics simulator has manual and clutch on console. but no npcs walking
The Spanish are good at many things, but driving is not one of them 😉
lol
People just love to hate I never listen to reviews this game is good!
I can't access the whole map of Barcelona.... will new parts of the map get activated as I progress in the gameplay?
Graphics look clean ngl
nah fam, it looks like a PS3 game they tried giving upgraded shaders
Just don't look too far in the distance lol
No @@mattcrazy7070
Imo the graphics are just fine and I like them. The issue is the terrible performance on PS5. Especially in first person view it drops under 30 fps with constant lag. I really hope they'll soon bring out a patch
@@christinamayers3234 Thought it was just me with the bad lags on PS5 omg it’s a joke!
I played it with my g920 and it was awesome. I will give it a good review. Driving sensations felt authentic and believable.
it works w the g920 wheel on xbox?
@@finessinhearts it works on PC
Rough timestamp 11:46 Clutch Pedal added when ‘cursor’ on manual
I just picked this up myself (after being wary/confused by the reviews) and I honestly love it.
It's what I wished CrazyTaxi was years ago as a kid. Plus, I get to 'practice driving' in my room when
I don't get to actually go out and drive.
I cannot wait to see what mods community gonna do to this game to make it real simulator
I’m playing in Series X and it’s great! Perfect traffic density for a console game.
One more bad thing is the reflection of light on the wet road. It is way too much.
I actually really like this game. Yes it has a couple of issues but nothing game breaking and hopefully the devs will fix it. Some of the AI vehicles get stuck and also you get people crossing the crose walks going back and forth over the same crossing
I'm enjoying the game so far but I wish the steering was a little more sharp and responsive
hey Jeff can you please put a camera where we can see you driving in person during gameplay of games like this one and ATS
I dunno how it is in other countries, but this sim needs a Body odour slider for real immersion
Yup
my only complaint is the lack of large vehicles driving around
Was skeptical of this cause of the reviews but im glad you played it and gave your honest opinion of it, love the vids, thank you!
Graphics great I just loved how you drove towards the end I liked how you forgot about the parking break it was funny indeed great job 👍😂😂😂
19:52 is the best footage I’ve seen on TH-cam today.
I was looking for a comment like this, having same issues thinking about retuning game back
The game glitches on ps5
All this content you've been putting out has been awesome. Please keep it up. its surely enjoyed.
3:44 Why can't Americans not use roundabouts properly? When entering a roundabout, unless you are taking the first exit, you indicate left and then switch to right indicator when you are going to exit (this is for right lane drive countries). You're welcome.
LOL
this game looks neat.. i hope your be able to see the drivers you hire like in bus sim hope this will be a near playthrough
The way you have to drive in this is very reminiscent of Crazy Taxi way back on the PS2. The physics were atrocious on that game but man I played that game constantly.
My review will be out next weekend, sonetime.
When I first read the thumbnail I thought customers gave you negative reviews as a driver 😂
Game looks good but the fact that I possibly can't use my T818 makes this a no-buy... (just tried it with a pirated version- I do that before buying anything, it does not work and there's no possibility to bind anything)
Looking at the driver view, feels and looks like my Renault Capture 2020 layout hahaha
wonky transmission, dumb ai, traffic lights not synchronized with the vehicles, bunch of non sense accidents, i mean there's plenty of things wrong with this game, far from a RELEASE version! Should still be in beta.
"favicabo" might just be the greatest name on the planet🤣
I really liked it and would love to see more.
Jeff, Looking around you, did you do that with IR tracking?
Nope
Who else loves Jeff Favignano?
Tmartn2 just did a video on this yesterday it was good he’s not the best at taking it slow 😂.
But I’ve seen all ur bus simulators and I think this gonna be a very enjoyable game to play and I’m along for the ride Jeff
The reason for the negative review is that the PS5 version of this game cannot use a steering wheel controller.
My wheel is not supported. Despite the Xbox One Version of my Wheel being supported (supposedly). But mine is is the PS4/PS5/PC Version
They're mostly because no wheel support and traffic likes to rear end you a lot but other than that it's one of the most relaxing sims
Can you play with steering wheel?
24:54 What was that driver thinking cutting you off?
I can’t wait till you release more
Jeff, your commentary is funny ! You got passengers in the back but they don't show in the rear view mirror. Does this support racing wheel at all ? Cheers
Looks good to me! Thanks for the tutorial.
I just want a piece of advice that laptop would be good for me to play GTA V using these mods? By the way, greetings, Jeff, you're great! :)
Jeff being typical European taxi driver, aka giving zero fux about traffic rules and stopping on pedestrian crossings 😂😂😂😂
You have to drive aggressively
@@jfavignano Fair does, Its pretty realistic 😆
When are you going to do more ATS? Miss it a lot
Wheel only for PC... big no no
Hopefully they don't abandon this game like their Train Life game.
Hows everybody's day going?
Devs will just abandon this simple
spot on
No they won't.
@@romich4536 yes they will kid
@@indian_crocodileNo they won't kid.
@@romich4536 how you know? you not them lol they abandoned their games before
4:20 What is wrong with that driver who rear ended you?
Jeff will this game be available? For for Xbox one or ps4 it would be great if u could some people can’t afford a pc or a ps5 or a Xbox series s/x
I think if you change it to semi-arcade it will stop the roll back
The whole point of a (Round-about) is to not impede the flow of traffic with traffic lights or stop signs. This game does it all wrong. Never have I ever entered one and encountered a traffic light.
No they do exist, when a roundabout is very big they sometimes get traffic lights. I wouldn't call them roundabouts though. More of a poorly thought out circular road.
For instance, there's one I have have to deal with every so often at 47.262234, -1.583458
Notice the tram line cutting through it? Yes, it's a nightmare.
Love the work you are doing keep up the good work jeff 👏
its not as bad as some are making out to be but have to say wish there was a way to turn the hud off so we can do nice screenshots
Same
I think for me at least, there's just enough performance issues and jank that it gets in the way of my enjoyment of the the game.
Can you drive wild like in crazy taxi, dont know if he addressed it in the video. Lol.
Hopefully they don't abandon this game like their Train Life game.
It's hard to please those people for me on ps5 and xbox It's nice to have a sim like this the performance on xbox is pretty good, but I ve heard on playstation that it isn't good
What's up Jeff, do you know when you will be playing dealer simulator again. I really enjoyed it even the live streams
I just wanna say I started watching you in 2018 when you and the group was together and that’s how I discovered everyone with the 5pd police chase videos and I must admit I haven’t been catching up with the channel as much as I use to I just wish you guys can all reconnect and do a 5pd in gta and beam mg episode
I wonder how boat boy would act or feel in the taxi with Jeff if this was to happen in Ocrp, fivem, ect
Just remember that these were the same developers who abandoned Train Life only 7 months after it released...
Well I have a complaint. I have a Thrustmaster T248 steering wheel. Works with every driving sim I have, except this one. If you have a T248, don't buy this sim cause they don't support it. Driving with a twitchy controller doesn't cut it.
