we always do Southwest out of Birmingham, AL which has been pretty good for trips to Denver and Vegas. Price is usually closer to 400 roundtrip though
yeah southwest here in SD is the best for vegas
Highly informative, useful info! Thank you Jaycation for your effort in sharing this video! You’re the best!🥰
southwest the best
Thanks Jay. Interesting video. Very different to our British Airways long haul flights! But then they cost way more than $50 😆 looking sharp in that suit my friend 👍
haha u pay the big bucks to get across the pond my friend!
I can survive with enough clothes in a personal bag for a weekend! 🙌 No baggage fees for me!
haha i wish i can say the same for me but u see how i pack lol
Thanks for the info Jay! Very informative. Flying there next month on Southwest.
Nice! Yeah i use southwest for the most part
I think some of the budget airlines have changed their pricing and bundling since some of these flights. They have also had to change their cancel fees. We fly Frontier from Cleveland to Vegas because it's the only nonstop airline. We have their credit card and they just added a free two checked bags benefit for credit card holders. Also have Gold Elite status which gets a free carry on. What we save on bags, we use to upgrade our seats for more leg room. They aren't a fancy airline, but they have gotten us to and from our happy place many times.
that deal definitely works out especially in the part of the US you fly from. nice!
Alaska Airlines also has a Flight Pass from San Diego to Las Vegas. $49 a month for 6 rt flights/year. $99/month for 12 rt flights/year.
that might be something worth looking into!
Alaska has really good service and status perks.
FYI, out of Fresno California we only have direct flights to Vegas from Allegiant. If you buy your tickets like a month ahead of time you can get round trip tickets for around $100 for two. Allegiant is also barebones and charges extra for everything, they also are known to delay and cancel quite a bit. In our case it takes about 6 hours to drive one way and just over $100 in gas for the rt drive. It's a toss-up as to decide to drive or fly. I like having more control so driving gives us that, so that's what we do.
Thanks for the comparison.
We usually fly Southwest from El Paso, TX. One price, no hassle.
yeah southwest for the most part isnt much of a hassle
I usually travel with Hawaiian,🤣Delta, Alaska or Air Canada. I tried Frontier once (one way) because it's the only airline that flew non-stop to El Paso, Texas. Not bad at all👍
I have commute from Atlanta to Las Vegas so I fly quite often. I alternate airlines from Delta, Southwest, Spirit, and Frontier. I definitely don't get the hype with Southwest.
Are those the new Quay “Fast Lane” shades ?
Good review on the airlines also
Good morning handsome. Good video on flights. Keep up the good work. Alita from Fayetteville nc
Thanks!
You’re a trooper Jayca spirit seats are stone slabs imho!
If you want to try Canada's no frills airline, I booked a one way ticket from LAS to YVR in November for $30 Canadian
is that westjet?
@@Jaycation sorry forgot to mention its Flair. Just like frontier and spirit everything costs extra and you just have a personal item at that price
@@Jaycation there’s mid week flights to Vancouver from Las Vegas on flair for $21 Canadian in November, $16US. Now if flair makes it to November is a different story
I've flown Southwest since 2005. I don't even consider Southwest a budget airline anymore- they haven't been for the better part of decade. Now next year they're going to go to the same boarding model (and I assume only a matter of time, until the same baggage policies as the other big players). From Denver they're definitely my preferred airline to Vegas.
edit- Can someone correct me if I'm wrong, but Jay I believe since the pandemic Southwest has stopped mailing drink coupons (which is lame).
Yep, no more drink coupons, I think you only get a free cocktail with certain fare types or status now.
that really is lame! i didnt know
its all about status nowadays...
Very nice vlog, ty !
i appreciate it!
Often when I get into KLAS I find that the Lyft and Uber prices are surging, and the flat rate taxi rate to the strip can be lower, so I check the prices by the elevator in the luggage claim area since that is where you need to make your decision...
Great information Jay!
thanks!
Great video! Very informative
Thanks for the video Jay. Would love to see a Terminal 1 update for San Diego if you get a chance. Hopefully they are still on track for 2025!
124 days left till 2025!
I live on Trop and Spencer, I usually check in from my house, and I get to the airport 30-40min before takeoff. Rarely have any issues
nice to live by the airport!
I've never flown with any of these airlines, but thanks for the information. Especially the additional charges. 😅
u fly private! i know youre a baller
@@Jaycation Ha ha, I wish! If it's for work, then I typically fly business with Delta. For fun trips, I usually book their comfort class.
ive only flown delta, going in october with sun country hope its not bad
curious to see how that is!
D terminal is nice. It where all the lounges are. Definitely a trek from southwest to the D terminal.
yup i always make that trek!
Great video!! Thank you. I am flying out this week from San Diego to Vegas. I normally fly out of Ontario. How is the traffic with the construction at San Diego? Keep up the great work !!!
Love your honesty on content.
I was at that airport two days ago and I went today to go to Reno
Another quick thing, transportation and comped rooms usually run us about $250 total for a 2-3-day trip for the two of us. This is quite affordable despite Vegas being so expensive for everything else.
Spirit they wanted $99 to cancel a $77 flight ✈️
Just don’t show up.
I didn’t show up
yup ive seen that happen. just dont pay it lol
exactly
Excellent video Jaycation. 😎
i appreciate that amy!
I Fly Spirit out of New Orleans to Vegas. Three Hour Direct. I get Round trips for 200- 250.00 with Check bag and personal bag. I have a spirit Credit card and use points all the time. Southwest is always double the price. Never flown with Frontier.
We fly out of SNA (Santa Ana) on Southwest & I heard they’re getting rid of the “Zone” seating. I guess it’s already taken place in some cities? I do notice it seems like they don’t have as many “direct” flights into Las Vegas turning a typical 55 minute flight into a 3hr flight because they want you to choose a stop over either in Salt Lake City or Phoenix?? Can’t understand the logic behind that??
thats really disappointing that southwest is doing that
Great job, Jay! When I fly on Frontier I just pack a under the seat bag as my personal item and I only have to pay for the flight which can be anywhere between $40 each way up to $80 each way. Have a great week! CAB😊😊✈✈
if u can just pack an under the seat bag, those flights work well!
Even though Frontier and Spirit may have charged $ 20 each way that didn't include choosing your seat fee, plus if you happened to buy something in Vegas that wouldn't have fit in your bag to take home you would be nailed with $ 69 baggage fee therefore the price would of been more. Southwest allows for 2 bags plus free choosing of seat and a little drink and snack. Southwest is less aggravating. However, they have all adjusted their tricks and weekends flights are now more. With all the traffic and airport construction along with additional fees tacked on to UBER fees, traveling solo I learned to catch the RTC bus for $ 2 and take it to the strip hotels. (It goes as far Freemont St) for me it's worth saving $ 24-40 plus tip each way. Traveling to Vegas all you do is walk and walk and wait in lines to eat, so what's another 15-20 minutes.
yup! thats how they get you!
I'd hardly consider Southwest the same tier as Frontier and Spirit. I fly the former almost exclusively but unless someone else was booking the tickets I would never fly the latter... and might even buy my own ticket if someone else would only pay for one of those two. They'd let you croak on Spirit or Frontier if you were choking before giving you a sip of water for free, yeesh.
those are the only 3 choices from san diego so i went with it
This was a good video! Something people don't review enough of. So when they moved you from the back to the exit row on Frontier, and you brought your "under the seat" bag, what if you tried to casually open the overhead bin and put it in? Do they watch? Does it need a tag on it or something? Or by the same token, after takeoff you could stand up and put it in the overhead. How do they prevent that?
Ive actually seen that once everyone is boarded and if there is space up top, you can put your under the seat bag up top. If its a full flight and your overhead isnt tagged, they are likely to take it down and tell u to put it under your seat.
Southwest gives you drinks, snacks, and has great free entertainment. I like them better than a lot of the other airlines.
having live tv on your phone is pretty good especially for a quick flight
@@Jaycation and they usually have Ocean's Eleven and Thirteen on demand! lol
I will hitchhike before I fly Frontier again
I really hope this southwest change doesn’t impact their prices too much 😭😭 my favorite airline ever (for now 😭)
same! theyve only let me down on a couple of occasions
I’ve seen articles that suggest southwest might start charging for bags in addition to assigning seats in the near future. I know some people like the open seats I don’t and we’ll be glad when it’s gone. I don’t fly spirit or frontier but they have introduced bundles which include bags and better assigned seats. I haven’t figured out the math on that to the a la cart option
@@lemonskincarebar they sent out an email survey the other day about it
ive heard that as well. hope not but times have changed
if bags are charged... bleh
southwest is going to lose a lot of customers soon i have a feeling lol
@@Jaycation they’re not always the cheapest option sometimes United is
Looking spiffy😊
Southwest has announced that they are moving to assigned seating in 2025. I've never had a problem with their current seating policy, but I guess they want to make more money by selling the up-front seats.
yeah i heard. definitely not a fan of that!
Allegiant airlines does but it 2 days a week
yeah wouldnt work for me
@@Jaycation that’s their way they make money besides fees. Most destinations are 2 days a week. Now it’s just Provo at the moment. They get a lot of business in Montana the northern states
Frontier is my LEAST favorite airline, especially since they tightened their personal bag policy to the extreme! I don’t mind Allegiant or Spirit as far as a budget experience.
yeah they get you if your bag is too big.. thats how they make that money haha
If I lived in Socal, I wouldn't even consider any other airline other than JSX… the cost for not dealing with the nonsense associated with public air travel is so worth the cost.
Alaska would be a distant second.
I'm strictly a Delta guy when flying in the United States, and it's always first class for me. You couldn't pay me to fly on any of these budget low-cost airlines no way Jose and not in a million years. I flew on Southeast 20 years ago, and it was the first and last time. Anything that is low cost is avoided by me and that goes the same for Cruises, hotels, grocery stores, and Restaurants. I learned the hard way a long time ago that being cheap will cost you hard time in the pocket book and in your mind at the end of the day, I know the rant was negative but I'm a heavy world traveler and I know what I'm talking about we'll catch you on the next one Jay.
Totally agree. My company made me fly SWA to PHX every month and I hated that trip. Thankfully I left that job and now fly 1st class everywhere.
@@rickmiller8614 That's good, there is no reason to suffer, people should just save up a little extra money to avoid headaches, traveling is already so hectic. But the one thing I'm not able to always do, is fly business class on trans-pacific and trans-atlantic flights, I have to be very strategic in doing so because those tickets are expensive but I'm working on ways of going around those prices. There's nothing better than prestige class on Korean Air
yeah unfortunately not everyone can afford those luxuries
good for you!
@Jaycation Hopefully Jay you'll fly on Korean Air someday in business class you deserve too for all the work that you do on this channel, the flight attendants are hot 🔥 if you know what I mean 😋😋😋 nothing is better than being waited on by a nice girl, I still want to fly on JAL and ANA, no need to explain why 😆😆😆
Flown on all 3 airlines. I stick with Southwest. Not perfect, but better than the other 2 compared.
agreed
My parents, in their 2 times flying to Las Vegas, preferred to fly JetBlue to there both times. Granted, we live near their main hub of NYC, but JetBlue is actually our families favorite airline when we fly.
jetblue is actually pretty decent!
Why don’t you just leave a suitcase at Norma’s or someone else’s house lol since you’re in Vegas a lot
not trying to inconvenience anyone
Southwest for The Best!! 💙❤💛
SW is way better than those other 2 fs!
My mom n i love southwest airlines
i like it for now!
@Jaycation your a cool guy love to meet you one day
I like delta
delta lets me down lol
Oyyy! You know Matt T?? He and his wife are friends of my sister.
Nice! We've known each other since we were little
Frontier airport employees are terrible people, at the airport I saw a woman from Frontier as asking where the restroom was, she said there was a charge for assistance? I was not even flying Frontier I was just asking a human being a question.
ive heard bad things about frontier!
Stick with what works. SWest.
SOUTHWEST..it's a no-brainer.👍
Frontier...Spirit...Allegiant, you will get charged for your socks and underwear 😊
LOL! yup
Spirit is a flying bus. Frontier is okay. Southwest is the top of the line
southwest is my choice for sure
Frontier is worst. Spirit will get you there just late
both aren't the best thats for sure
Southwest is way overpriced, especially flying out of Portland. I like Spirit personally, never had an issue with them at all.
If you think spirit is bad you definitely don’t fly much
i guess
