I met Craig about 52 years ago in high school in Sacramento. There was an English teacher named Jack Traylor who knew Paul Kantner and introduced Craig to him while recording Jack's Grunt label album that Craig played the guitar on. One thing lead to another.... I think Craig was stifled in his playing for the sake of time in a lot of songs, but I don't mean to imply he said anything like that to me, just my own feeling. By the way, it's pronounced Cha-key-so. Thanks for the video, excellent!
Thanks for another great lesson! I always fumble my way through this solo, but you definitely nailed it! I appreciate all your effort into making sure your lessons are as accurate as possible and your playing is always top notch!
This is my favorite song at the time. I can't even think of how many times I listen to it in a row. Thanks so much for digging this out of the vault I really appreciate all you've done to keep us guitar players motivated. I'm sure I told you that I just had open heart surgery and one of the side effects is my left hand pinky and ring finger aren't working properly. Even though I can't play guitar the same way right now, I sure enjoy watching you play. Jim
Fantastic lesson/ demo! Thanks so much for doing it Kelly. Don’t forget the super thanks button guys, if you appreciate this fantastic opportunity to learn this piece then you can help Kelly to keep these lessons and demos going. I have donated in the past and shall definitely donate again when I can for sure. Five star demo/ lesson for sure. 🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠👌🏻
2 for 2 today Kelly. When I finish playing Marque Moon I’ll be pulling an all nighter learning Jane. Thanks for posting one of my all time fave riffs and the back story. Riff is not as intimidating as I thought. Also that short 4 note guitar lead-in at the 17 second mark gets me every time too.
Lovely channel Jim! I bumped into you looking for a tutorial for the Black Hole Sun solo, and your take was amazing. Looking forward to seeing more of your content
Kelly if you ever get on a Jefferson starship kick again Can you possibly transcribe in a video that sultry Grace vocaled love too good the song that begins the 1978 Earth album those chords that run it?
Boy, if I only had a good guitar and a big amp ...Tell ya, I ain't playin' no surf music I'm gonna play some heavy music I'm gonna play bad, I'm gonna play loud I know just what I want it to sound like It's gonna sound like, it's gonna sound like... This guy is a goat. He will be teaching people to not only play the guitar, but master it, for a very very long time. #goat

One of my favorites now and back in the day. Interesting backstory. Thanks for breaking it down and sharing!

Nice back story about the song and helpful lesson on that great solo. Really well explained!
Thanks for this! I just decided to learn this song and your tutorial on the lead is the best available.
Saw this version of Starship a couple of times and loved it!

Always loved this tune! Was hoping they’d do more like this! Any chance there’s a lesson on the rest of this stand out song? 😉 Thank you again!!
Great work Kelly! Keep on posting your excellent videos! - E 😀👍
🤣 'caught' playing the Smoke on the Water... Funny AF 🥳 Rock on Kelly 💪
Amazing. Thank you.
To think this solo almost never happened😮 Just shocking to say the least.
Love your great breakdown Kelly👍😎
Awesome 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Love it!
Yeah, just slowed it down, pulled it apart by ear. Was surprised myself how straightforward the whole thing was.
@@KellyDeanAllenGuitar It has so many standard rock ‘signatures’, I figured it was probably a studio musician. Glad I was wrong.
Well done. Thanks
Epic!
I'm late to the party, thanks for this.

kelly how much do you charge for one on one lessons? might be moving home in a few years love your videos brother keep putting them on . thanks man!
Tony! Hey man, good to hear from you. Don't really do one on one lessons. Find them anxiety inducing, haha.
I've been playing this wrong in my band for years and now I'm trying to course correct and it's hard lmao

I love this solo but you are adding too many notes after the initial 4 high bends.
