      Awesome lesson & your tone & vibrato sounds just like Blackmore on the song "Lazy" from Deep Purple's "Machine Head"...he is using this same scale!
      I've finally noticed that you "top wrap" your Les Paul!

    • @rustysguitar1
      @rustysguitar1  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@gearmeister I love me, some Ritchie, Blackmore, Guitar! I like top wrapping those strings for a little less tension, and I like to rest the palm of my hand on the bridge. And it feels better to me that way. I really appreciate the comment. Catch you later buddy.👍

    • @gearmeister
      @gearmeister ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@rustysguitar1 Very cool, now I know that we're Blackmore fans & my goodness we've got a lot in common! I've got a black beauty within my 30+ guitar collection! I've tried top wrapping & I really didn't see much difference but we probably have a slight difference in where we normally place our right hand.

    • @rustysguitar1
      @rustysguitar1  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@gearmeister you’re right. Probably not much difference. But I definitely like the way it feels as I rest my hand on the other side of the bridge. It’s a little higher. Thanks again. Keep rocking mate.👍

    I’m often amazed at how important timing, attack, tension/vibrato are in great sounding music. The same handful of notes can sound completely different just because if they way they are played. I think that’s a big part of why I enjoy guitar - it’s very tactile.

I think its nice to know scales for sure but when you don't sound musical as a beginner then nothing makes sense until you start using vibrato, bends, slides, H.O's and P.O's and other cool tricks. This brief lesson is not helpful , it is SUPER HELPFUL - your lessons are also very inspiring. I have been playing many years , so many that ,in fact - should already know what you teach but never really took the time to dig in and learn the nuggets of playing that you so GREATLY INSTRUCT. I think you were born to show us this and cannot thank you enough for sharing your playing knowledge . I wish you were my neighbor - you rock 🙂🎸🎸🎸🎸👍✌️

    Thank you Rusty! This is the lesson I've been waiting for. The backing track and the style you taught today is worthy of emulation. I picked up the guitar at 60 and at 74 get most enjoyment from improvisational playing to backing tracks.

    Great lesson Rusty. Any suggestions on how I can play solos faster?

    • @rustysguitar1
      @rustysguitar1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for checking out the video, Scooby! For me, I use three different things to play faster. Alternate picking. Hammer ons and pull offs. And also Pentatonic sequences. And to help with all of that I definitely use a metronome so I can start slow and build up speed. This helps you lock in to good timing. Thanks for all your support this year. I hope you enjoy your new year holiday.👍

    I've heard this called the 2,3 string scale . I flip it , start with three and you have major. Simple but sounds great. Happy New Year Rusty.

    • @rustysguitar1

      Hey Charles, I use it in a major context all the time also. The sliding effect sounds great over a major progression. Thanks for all your support this year. I hope you have a great 2024.👍

    Cool stuff, Rusty!
    Lovin' the rockin' sound!
    You're such a good teacher. It makes a big difference: you can make a BIG sound, and then you show how "easy" it is. (It's "easy" but it takes practice!)
    Also lovin' the guitars you're usin'.
    (I wish I had even one of them, esp one that's light weight, cuzza my neck problems, lol.)
    And also lovin' that you have "The Good Book" in the background, under the light...even though you don't call attention to it. We all know it's there.
    Because, since it is what it is, it speaks VOLUMES by itself, just being there!
    😅 thanks again for 'nother great lesson!
    Rock on!
    👌 👍 🤪
