First, thank you for helping others, it is appreciated. That said, I have a blue screen on my HP Pavilion laptop. I did an HP disc test and all passed. I did a Diskpart test and all disc were fine. Did /scannow, dskchck, and hard reset (remove battery test) too. But it keeps coming up with a blue screen. Still a bad system or is this an easy fix? I am a layman computer guy btw :). Thnaks, Mark

Hi, I ran a hardware component test and failed. I was given this id code. ID: GLP76F-7LTA8C-MFPWLJ-61CA03 I also have Trojan:Win32 threat. I can't seem to be able to remove it.
To get rid of the Trojan you will need to factory reset you computer or reinstall windows. Did the test give you any other information besides the ID? Like did it say what component failed?
Mine had a blue screen error then when I turned it off it didn't turn back on, the light is on but the rest isn't, It doesn't even turn on with a charger.

You will not lose Windows but you will lose all your data. Also if Windows is too corrupt to reset itself then sometimes the reset will not work and then you will have to reinstall Windows.

You could try the keep my files reset option first and see if that fixes the problem. You can also pull the hard drive out and plug it into an external hard drive bay and pull the files off that way.

You only need to be concerned about a blue screen if it happens more than once. If it happened the one time then it could just be a glitch the computer needed to work out.

I got the blue screen that has error code 0xc0000185 only thing works esc button you keep tapping that and it being up startup menu with f1 f2 f9 f10 f11 and I went through them and it said everything checks out then go out and right back the blue screen error

It could be the computer is trying to boot off the USB. You can correct this problem by changing the boot order in BIOS so that the USB is not set first.
True, but I purposely want usb to be defined first. I have a USB flash drive bootable through rufus, with an ios operating system, and I want the computer to offer me to download the operating system from the usb... the strange thing is that the virtual machine works fine @egghead fixers

I'm going through all the answers as I too have the "blue screen" problem. I had tried various remedies, most of which you suggested but no luck. I too am a layman and try to keep it really simple, but.. of course to do any of these fixes of course you need to have a SECOND DEVICE- in my case, my iphone to carry the instructions, without which if course, I'd be totally lost! All I can do is carry on endlessly trying to fix it but..I'm as interested in the fact this is happening to HP machines and wonder, is there anything about those machines that after two years, with no apparent actions from me, and because it's so confoundingly impossible to fix, will likely result in me having to replace the machine (NOT with HP next time..!!). Do you have any explanation as to WHY they are doing this and what causes it?
Blue screen errors can be caused by quite a few different things and are unfortunately more common than they should be. It can be caused by a software issue like a bad update, a newly installed app, a software conflict, etc. It can also be caused by a hardware problem like bad RAM, a build up of flea power in the system, power issues, bad HDD, bad CPU or GPU, etc. When you ran the diagnostic did all your hardware pass?

@@sandykerala Maybe look up your make and model of HP. Sometimes they just randomly do something different. Also maybe try using a external keyboard. Could be a problem with the key itself.

So my envy it tries to do the resetting “gets things ready for it” then I try resetting but it gives me unable to perform. And then goes back to same error. Any advise?

I would try running on the diagnostic first. If all your hardware passes then I would try the reset.

Are you in BIOS? because you may need to use your arrow keys instead of the mouse.
I have think pad lenovo E520 and the blue screen is occuring but by pressing F9 nothing is happening
Some models of HP use the Esc instead at start up to access it. You may have to try that instead.

I did not get any troubleshooting screen or choose an option screen instead every time I got same blue screen inaccessible boot device error
With some models of HP you have to hit esc at start up in order to access the boot menu. So you may need to try that instead.

So you are stuck on the blue screen and it won't turn off? Sounds like you may need to unplug it and take out the battery

@@nellataylor3924 Ya sounds like the update did something. I would check the windows logs to see what is causing the problem. Can you boot to your desktop? Or are you stuck in a boot loop?
I got the blue screen that has error code 0xc0000185 only thing works esc button you keep tapping that and it being up startup menu with f1 f2 f9 f10 f11 and I went through them and it said everything checks out then go out and right back the blue screen error

It could be the computer is trying to boot off the USB. You can correct this problem by changing the boot order in BIOS so that the USB is not set first.

True, but I purposely want usb to be defined first. I have a USB flash drive bootable through rufus, with an ios operating system, and I want the computer to offer me to download the operating system from the usb... the strange thing is that the virtual machine works fine @egghead fixers

I'm going through all the answers as I too have the "blue screen" problem. I had tried various remedies, most of which you suggested but no luck. I too am a layman and try to keep it really simple, but.. of course to do any of these fixes of course you need to have a SECOND DEVICE- in my case, my iphone to carry the instructions, without which if course, I'd be totally lost! All I can do is carry on endlessly trying to fix it but..I'm as interested in the fact this is happening to HP machines and wonder, is there anything about those machines that after two years, with no apparent actions from me, and because it's so confoundingly impossible to fix, will likely result in me having to replace the machine (NOT with HP next time..!!). Do you have any explanation as to WHY they are doing this and what causes it?
Blue screen errors can be caused by quite a few different things and are unfortunately more common than they should be. It can be caused by a software issue like a bad update, a newly installed app, a software conflict, etc. It can also be caused by a hardware problem like bad RAM, a build up of flea power in the system, power issues, bad HDD, bad CPU or GPU, etc. When you ran the diagnostic did all your hardware pass?
same apparently hp sucks, i had just bght my computer in 2020 since that update july 2021 my laptop hasnt worked sine, i had my laptop brank new from walmart for 6 mths $400 in the trash bc of course i didn't get the warranty. screw hp

I have a HP ProBook 640 G2 with 128 GB M.2 SSD and 500GB WD HDD it was working fine until last noon it showed a msg that no hard drive find Install an OS but since then it only show SSD or HDD at once in BIOS Device Manager Disk Manager and all both SSD and HDD passed the cheak they are good but only one work at a time now while earlier i was using SSD for windows and HDD for files.

Do you have the SSD set first in the boot order? Also how is your laptop battery? Is it holding a charge?

The F9 thing is not working
With some models of HP you will need to hit Esc to enter the boot menu or Esc then select the boot menu.

@@sandykerala Maybe look up your make and model of HP. Sometimes they just randomly do something different. Also maybe try using a external keyboard. Could be a problem with the key itself.

With some models of HP you have to hit Esc before hitting f9.
So my envy it tries to do the resetting “gets things ready for it” then I try resetting but it gives me unable to perform. And then goes back to same error. Any advise?
