      @angelumaya320 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      yeah well she knows her runners. They want to place well, and oxygen debt lasts about 2-3 minutes and they are recovered completely after about 10 minutes given their training. To sit on the ground when you are temporarily gassed isn't what competing is about. I'm sure her runner is 100% glad she got up and finished and was key to her team winning. That's kinds what life is about, getting up and finishing when its not easy. Congrats Lexi.

    • @seancullen99

      @@angelumaya320 Yeah totally, I'm a runner myself and no stranger to O2 debt and pain. It was just a general comment on the demeanor of the runners and the coach at the end. There's a similar video of the mens coach of the same team at the same race I think and it's the total opposite attitude all round. Not sure which team has the best results out of their approach though. I guess at this level of college athletics, it's the results that count, but I do feel that positive encouragement works better, at least for me. Anyway, obviously I could have picked this up wrong but that's just how it looked to me on this short clip.

    • @angelumaya320
      @angelumaya320 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@seancullen99 Well also look at the way she encourages and sets goals for the team. That gives them a reason to get up and be there and be their best. As you get through daily life, you realize there are so many days when no one is cheering for you, no one encourages you, and no one cares. Look deeper into what it means when someone cares that you are there, that they want you to go home having done something that maybe you thought you couldn't do. Also, if you look deeper, you will see this was actually one of Lexi better days competing on the year, and that was even despite bonking and having to get back up. She was down on her knees crawling and she was still as a freshman the third runner for a varsity D1 women's team that won the national championship. That's an accomplishment most runners never get to accomplish even if she went beyond her limits and did it down on her knees.

      @@taliadixon7377 the clothing chosen for the athletes isn't modest. BYU is run by the church. The church has standards of modesty. I'm wondering when these relaxed so as to encourage immodest clothing during competition. I know the track team has not always warn this type of clothing. I'm not saying immodest clothing is bad to wear during competition, but the clothing is clearly contrary to the teachings of the church. • @jerks6215
      @jerks6215 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      What is modest and what isn't? Are swimsuits modest? We have a women's swim team (and a men's team in speedos). BYU athletes wear what is appropriate for that sport. Women volleyball players wear the tight short shorts since that's what is best to play in. Not having leggings in track/cross country helps as well.

    • @lucasyates1893
      @lucasyates1893 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jerks6215 are you saying that athletics is more important to god than modesty, or are you just saying you base your decision on what's modest based on what BYU encourages its students to wear?
      Swimsuits are not modest, but the church hasn't said anything against them. I actually think BYU students should be able to wear anything they feel like wearing. But it has never made sense to me why recreational swimsuits that are less than an inch away on both sides from private sacred parts is allowed every time. You can buy more modest swimsuits, or where shorts, as is done in competition as well. It really is crazy for the church to encourage girls to wear clothing that reveals less than an inch away from private sacred parts of god's children.
      I'm wondering, does BYU still coincide with principles of the church, or are they becoming more secular in their values, like competing in sports better?
      Or does it not resonate with members of the church anymore that swimsuits revealing so close to sacred parts of the body are not modest? Do you consider them to be modest in recreational settings? Serious question. I appreciate your reply.
