I bought this keytar and it's absolutely sick, dude. It's just much more freedom while playing, because you're not tied to keyboard stands or even cables. You just have to kinda stay in about 3 meters perimeter from your wireless dongle, otherwise you will run into latency issues.
Hah, I was wondering if this was a thing. I like the idea of being able to play DX-7 or Jupiter 8 sounds on a keytar myself. Just go full 80's with it.
No you can't, it's just a midi controller, it doesn't make in sound, there's no sound banks, so u can use a lot of plugins and virtual instruments on you laptop using a DAW, or a plugin in standalone if it's available
There is a question that is not being answered. Does it have onboard sounds? Must it always be connected to a sound source for it to work? Am so happy that it has the pitch bend wheel instead of those lousy ribbons. The ribbon on my Roland got messed up and I was no longer enjoying music. If I find that it has its own sounds installed, I won't have a problem buying it at all!
Nice video! My Vortex Wireless 2 arrived a few days ago. I am experiencing the "Hang Notes Issue". I didn't have much time to test it deeply yet. I had the impression that it is related about "how far you go from the USB dongle receiver. Not sure. I saw that a huge number of guys are experimenting the same issue. Did you experience it? What should I expect about it? Any idea if is this going to be fixed, updated? I am so confused as well about "how far can I play from the USB receiver without any issues. No information about it in ANY source on the internet. Thanks for any help.
Don't buy it, it has a very bad manufacturing defect. When you play fast sometimes notes will stuck and play forever, you have to reset the main keyboard (if you switch off the keytar doesn't resolve the problem, notes will hang anyway). After 6 months, and after they identify the bug, Alesis still has not resolve it and they disappeared since 3 months...I bought and after 1 week I gave it back to the shop
But this can happen when your computer's latency is too low for the cpu to handle on certain VSTis. It used to happen on my old studio computer but not on the new one, even though the keyboard connected to it is the same. It would need to be connected to a sound module or another keyboard to verify. It is possible that playing very fast could cause the release value of the midi notes to not be sent or received in which case, you would be right, that would be a fault. We need other people to verify.

It's not a USB problem, it's not related with it (you have the same problemi with WIFI). I had stuck notes issue (just do a Glissato) and I gave the product back to the shop! Alesis won't fix it, and the distributor says to me that it's useless change the product couse all products have the issue! (GO HERE: community.alesis.com/alesis/topics/vortex-2-midi-notes-hang )

Thats how they did it in the 80s! Only with a yamaha kx5 or roland axis keytar !
