      I take my PSS A50 to play outdoors. It fits in a bag. It is lightweight. 4 AA replaceable rechargeable 🔋lasts 8 hours. More than enough to play few evenings. Sound quality is great.
      In old days people traveled with spinets & clavichords.
      Yamaha is best, I want to get new SHS.

    Just bought one. Cheapest keytar in market n reminisce the old shs10. Play thru function is excellent for jamming along. I also hook it up to soft synth like Reason and you get endless sounds on it! Lightweight and cool looking but too bad it doesn’t have any funky colours like yellow or blue or green. Come on it’s 80s vibes !!

      It hits me now that one could create his/her OWN chord track, let the tracker render it and then you could improvise over your own stuff, without making mistakes. I don't have it but now I would like to test it badly, lol.

    Have you tried the midi in on this? The manual is pretty skimpy - simply says it has it. I tried it figuring I could sequence any of the 30 voices but found instead that it seems to have a full 16 track 128 voice GM sound module! My guess is that the 30 front end voices are just presets with chorus etc from that module. I was influenced to buy this by your review and I'm glad I did. You felt that it was more than the overpriced glorified teen toy party trick that Yamaha seems to think is its market and I'm glad you did.I now route its midi out into my Axiom 49 and from there back into the Sonogenic's midi in. This allows me to wear and use it like a keytar while adding the faders, program changes etc from the Axiom to access that internal tone module. Thanks fro the thoughtful review and recommendation!

    Would have liked to have seen the MIDI break-out but I suspect there's a lot of Reface in this design with a similar break-out. Thinking it will require a safety loop in the MIDI lead on the hidden end of the strap.

    So I'm kind of confused. Does this need a computer to use? Are there internal speakers or something? Is there any way to use this without a computer? I ask because it looks like most other keytars need some sort of computer or module to use.

    • @stumpylogs
      @stumpylogs 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was confused about the same thing but after some time of research, i have concluded that some keytars have synthesizers already on them, those of which do not need to run through a computer program to work (MIDI), meaning that it should be able to plug into an amp and go. What you have to be careful is there are other keytars that are MIDI only, meaning that they must go through a computer program (MIDI) to get the voicings. This keyboard in particular does not require MIDI but they all have the feature for people who still want to use MIDI (for additional voicings, etc).

      Hi Whackle. You can modify any of the existing 30 presets by changing Effect Types, Effect parameters, Filter Types, and Filter Cutoff settings. But they will always be based off of the 30 presets that I demonstrated in this video. Thanks for watching!

    Calling of keytar a shoulder keyboard is an absurd submition. There are absolutally no reason for it first of all. Accordions are whearable keyboards older than guitars played since 18 century. It seems that guitarists have some unmotivated revulsion at keyboard players who use them as if they wish to eliminate competition, which other key players emulated by keyboards like brass don't. The strangest thing is that the clean sound is what guitar players less use since they always play trought effects, It is worth mentioning that they play through a manufactured tone. But they don't like to see keyboard players playing standed 'cos they are affraid of. We are now seeing the true evolution of this type of keyboard with better sound, technology, much more compact and bold. We are facing a revolution.
