    This was a great video! I was able to calibrate my gold metal filament and my print looks great. I can't wait to go through this for all my filaments.

      Dude, gold is a pain to calibrate compared to other colors. Even BL recommends lowering the flow rate. Other companies also acknowledge printing difficulties with gold, bronze, and silver filaments. It's odd how color affects it.

      @@KiCkiN828 Yeah, the first thing I printed with BL PLA Metal in Iridium Gold looked okay. I think I'll reprint it now that I've calibrated the filament.

      @@MultiHippie13 I was just considering buying BL metal filament like an hour ago, lol. I've never tried it. I know it doesn't contain any actual metal but does it really look like metal? I'm afraid it'll just look like silk PLA.

    Thanks for this video Len. It's been a while. I had to step away from printing for a while, but I'm back. Calibration is resisting going into my brain. :) I'll watch this, maybe a few times if necessary...I really need to dial my machines in. ASA has discouraged me, but hoping these calibrations will help. 👍🙏

      I’m with ya in regard to ASA being discouraging. I just can’t seem to get it totally dialed. In time I’m hoping.

    Great video. I’m caught in calibration hell. I do fine with non Bambu spools but Bambu’s RFID chips make it tough. Have to create a new filament profile to incorporate results. Then when you sync with AMS, they revert back to the RFID settings.

    FYI, regarding the flow rate calibration in OrcaSlicer at 24:30, OrcaSlicer has the same Calibration tab in the main window next to the Project tab that Bambu Studio has, at least when using a Bambu printer, so you don't have to do all the math manually, you can go through the same manual calibration process as you did in Bambu Studio. Which makes sense considering OrcaSlicer is a fork of Bambu Studio, in fact from what I understand Bambu Studio has gotten features added to it that originated in OrcaSlicer.

    None of my slik temp towers look that good when i run them. Do you use a z-hop or no? Im ready to give up trying to calibrate my Kobra 2 Neo for silks and just buy an A1. lol

    Thanks for taking us through these - very informative! I'm curious though why on that last test for Max Volumetric Speed you decided to arbitrarily change the value to 15 vs. re-running the test with higher speed values in order to have the test really show where the speed failure point was.

    • @MidMadn
      @MidMadn 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm with Ken. You were doing such a thorough job and explained everything better than I've seen in any video. I was shocked when you through in the towel on max vol speed and just picked a number that you felt safe would work and went with it. I was sure you were going to up the number and run the test again and show us where it failed and what number you picked. Then print the benchy again with those results. Awesome job on the video though. Just have to take off a few points for you getting bored or trying to keep the video from getting to long and not finishing out strong.

      I agree, this is titled as the "ultimate" calibration guide after all, the max flow rate test should have been run again starting from just before the max of the first test (so begin at say 15-18) and then maxed out at 30-40, then you just babysit the print until it's clear you've hit the limit, stop it, and take measurements and do the calibration properly according to the instructions on the OrcaSlicer wiki. Or run the test from the beginning with a higher maximum limit and babysit the print a little more closely so you can stop the print before things get too out of hand.

    I have a question about the color input. I have 10 rolls of different tri color silk. How do i set the colors for them. You set the color to gold. is it because the color reference begins with that color on the roll? I have multiple start wit gold or Red. What do i pick?

    Another question - I have a smooth PEI plate and a textured PEI plate. Do I need to run the calibration on each plate or is one good enough?
