Guys this is a diesel motor it's meant to be pushed hard hauling a shit load of weight under pressure for hours and hours lol that motor will be just fine
I'm getting ready to put together a 453 hot rod. Does anybody know, do I have to buy a bypass blower, or can I bypass the blower in a different way, like going through the inspection plates. Does anybody do that. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Take it as it is not a 4x4 love the truck my friend never sell it I live in Alaska and am on the hunt for a 453T Detroit Desole to put in a 93 chevy 1500 short bead
never shut down an engine after running it hard like that untill you idle it 3 minutes min. to allow it to cool down. Also never spin your rear like that as it will become so hot to cause damage because the spider gears are spining at a horrific rate to make one whel spin. and the sudden grab of bare pavement can snap a u joint
Love to see DD converted vehicles of Any size & shape, especially "classics"..... but, that is a good way to take out the rear end. What is the "box" off of... or, did you fab it yourself ? Nice build!
2Stroke Diesel Power Thanks. Not too worried, she's built FORD TOUGH('06 chassis), with Chevy stuff, LOL. Lucky for me we have our own fab shop and the box was created with a tow body in mind.
procharged496 Thanks for the reply. I thought the box had the "tow body" look to it.... was that the intended purpose, or... is it, still ?? What are you running for a "box" (trans.) behind the 53 ? What's the rear end ratio ? What have you got the gov. set for (loaded rpms) ? Have, or... are you, going to paint it ? If so, any idea of color(s) ?? Would REALLY enjoy to hear a reply on these questions from you.... whenever your able to. Thanks. "Free-wheeling" (tire spin) the rear, is still the hardest on them, regardless of who's "name" is on the tag...... but, I certainly understand the "fun" part, also. : ) I have a fair size shop (40X70) and in it, I have an '80' Chevy 1T Dually / Crew cab with no engine and trans, but it has a Great, straight & rust free body & frame.... also have a 1994 vintage (last year of production for the 12V's) 12V71TT DD(factory rated "stock" at 655 HP & 1910 ft lbs of pure muscle........ and I'm thinking......... if I turned the engine compartment into "trunk" space, and stretched the frame approximately 6 ft at "mid-ship", "box" the frame rails for extra stength, and........ Hmmmmmm.... could be fun - not to mention the Only one like it !! I'm thinking on it...... but my wife is questioning "the sanity of it" and justifying the cost....... when we "could be putting the money into something like a nice motorhome, instead......" Women !! lol : ) You would think that after 45 yrs of trucking, 21 yrs of drag racing (included during the 45 yrs) and a few hot rods and muscle cars here & there...... she'd have the picture by now(and she enjoys all of that).... actually, she just thinks that 65 yrs "young" is too "late" to start another project like this...... but, to me..... it would be saving "the best for last" type of thing..... and something I've always wanted to build. We'll see what happens.... Take Care, and look forward to a reply on the questions at the top, when you can. Thanks again.

2Stroke Diesel Power Yes, the box was made because I always liked that look, it would be nice to have a boom, but then again I like it how it is now. Also just shortened bed of truck and added a unique push bar, I'll have to get a walk around vid of it. Only a few things left to do, never ending it seems. The trans is a 5 speed Clark, 410's I believe, tops out at around 75, which is fine, but would like more range for in town driving so I may change the ratio, or to find a 2-3 speed auxiliary trans. would be nice.If anything I will rust the box more to match the cab, no paint in it's future! It's nice to take around and not worry about idiots touching it or letting their kids use as a playground. Procharged 496 is the engine I have in my '68 chevelle, Check my other vids for the dyno run of engine!Your 12v project would be awesome to say the least! Would give a lot of people neck problems and maybe injury's from walking into signs and poles looking for what kind of hell was coming for them. The looks you get are worth what you put into them, but it is expensive, I have 16+ into my diamond t right now and engine is still not in it. I have a 471and a 6 speed Eaton that will be a tight fit, but what the hell!Never too old to have fun, I'm 35 but want to do all I can while I still can. Till next time!

I figured the "496" for Chevy power..... (I through in the "or, whatever brand" just to cover the bases, because one never knows what's "out there" these days)....... anyway, and procharged in a 68 Chevelle... VERY Nice !! Will have to have a look, see & drool... of your other videos. What kind of boost are you putting into your big block ? Will go watch your dyno video(s). SO !...... Damn nothing compares to the sweet sound of a good ol' Detroit!
Driving instructor: The road's a little slippery up here, so go easy on the throttle.
Me:
Lmao😂
You're not getting momentum without doing this
Appalachian hummingbird
I've got a 1954 Chevrolet 4400 truck. I've been toying with the Idea of putting a 6-71 diesel in it with a 13 speed.
I'm am loving the background music in this video!
Heated driveway....Detroit style
Screaming Jimmy, best thing I heard all day.
The sound of a Detroit Diesel engine is glorious
have you figured your feet per gallon fuel consumption?
It actually wouldn't use all that much. It should be able to get around 24-25 mpg depending on how it's set up.
The 3-53 and 4-53 are great on fuel you should be able to get 15-50 MPG
They sip fuel. It didn’t consume much.
the two dislikes must have not had computer speakers
No they where democrats

That is the most beautiful video I have seen in a long time :)
Peachezz131 Thanks, the credit goes to the wife as she had to stand outside while I had all the fun, LOL!!
Nice old truck, looks GM, and of course I hear the old driptroit, wonderful sound.
Guys this is a diesel motor it's meant to be pushed hard hauling a shit load of weight under pressure for hours and hours lol that motor will be just fine
Frank Whire approves of all things powered by the detroit screamer.
Mean green and built since '37
1938
don't get tired if listening this iconic machine...
people probably heard this in another state..
The sound of a Detroit is music to my ears
Sounds like a V12 pulling the Grapevine, or Shasta.. lol! Love them Jimmy's!
You really need rear dual Positraction on that thing.
throw on a set of 3 rail chains and load about 4000 on the back...you wouldn't have this problem...great sound...
lol reading the comments some people did not have a clue to what this video was about and they probably read the title
Oh yeah! The more you make a Detroit scream the more she likes it! That's exactly what they were made for.
Great job on the video👍🏻
Very cool truck sir!
Simply cool nothing like a Detroit...
Creatures that scream and crawl LOL!!!
I'll bet your neighbors love you
🤣🤣🤣
I can head the differential crying from here!
Yep that’s “one” way to plow the driveway!😆
One word "Chains"
i love you detroit diesel 453
I love the way the 453 sounds. Ever since I saw maximum overdrive lol
Sounds healthy
Nice truck
I'm getting ready to put together a 453 hot rod.
Does anybody know, do I have to buy a bypass blower, or can I bypass the blower in a different way, like going through the inspection plates. Does anybody do that. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Want. That. Truck! 😍😍😍
Do you know how to go backword and forward at all?
Man, I love Detroits!
does it have four wheel drive? if it is then why didint you put it in four wheel drive? if it is not then dang
Got any chains?
Sounds great
Take it as it is not a 4x4 love the truck my friend never sell it I live in Alaska and am on the hunt for a 453T Detroit Desole to put in a 93 chevy 1500 short bead
never heard of a detroit "Desole".. Sounds fast
Why didn't he back up a little more and get a better start off the dry pavement? Must want new tires I guess.
nice !
Having chains on would have been less drama
Sounds like a skiddah' !!!
got diff lock ? nope !
You gotta slam your hand in the driver’s door jamb before you start it up
*Detroit* 😍
Que som magnífico !! 💕
Kwantwz hp??
Doesn't look like any FAST fun :)
Getting it done lol
Grab another gear, crack another bear

Oh well let him do what he wants
U-joints are cheap but the rear diff is another story ;)
Stephen Barker its more likely to snap all 4 spider gear before a u joint but i would not be surprised if both went at the same time
Yeah oops :)
money for me
Nice truck but why trash the engine and not use tire chains?
Ya gotta know old Detroits. They like being run wide open.
All great until the diff blows chunks

Better start that "rear diff locker savings account" . . . one leg peg are not cool. HOWEVER . . . your truck and it's engine surely are.
before plows were made
Needs a locker in the diff.
Lincoln lock that rear end
Bout 20 rods🙃
I bet turbo guys have a ton of yer dough.
Just goes to show just cuz you got dollars dont mean you got any sense.
One wheel drive
There went 30,000.00 miles off the engine in one minute!! Cool!
just sayin
They were made to rev high and they run better abused and half wore out
lol give er hell
I bet you sold it
no traction...
Great motor. Crappy rear-end.
Low profiles suck on snow and ice..who cares when u got a beaty like. That

Que sentido tiene este video? No le veo nada , mas que el sonido caracteristico del motor. Yo los repare en mi juventud de . Mecanico. Honduras.
that was painful to watch, bro,,throw some weight in the back to get traction ffsake!
That ain’t kool
