Christian Eriksson listen more carefully! He did not say he gets 50 mpg! He said it LIKE getting 50 mpg! That's because he gets 25 mpg on fuel he buys and mixes 50/50, with the free fryer oil he gets to make bio-diesel fuel! So half the fuel he burns is free! So it's LIKE getting twice the mileage! As far as costs are concerned!

mpg is normal for that engine, gearing and vehicle... its a diesel, idling this engine would waste a decent amount of fuel since it has fixed injectors but they are efficient enough under load.

my 2 favorite trucks are both diesel ,, one is powered by a 6V-71 i didn't convert it but actually bought it sight unseen as a project
1973 Chevrolet C50 ,was supposed to have the 427 BBC according to the VIN , has a very nice turbocharged 6V71 instead
and my other truck is my own doing , it's powered by a 4BT cummins i just love it ,, it's a 5 speed 4x4 ,, and gets 35MPG burning fryer oil ,,it's been turned up a little and if i really get on it i can get 185HP and 400 LB/FT at the rear wheels ,, it's a quick little beast
