You get less rudder authority, however, he compensated for that by putting the larger Super Cub rudder and elevator on his Pacer. It seems to be a winning combination because the plane flies like a Cub with the angle of incidence change on his wing.
@@PlaneCrazyChannel I'm honestly surprised it preforms as well as it's proven to considering a cubs horizontal is only about 4" larger but a cub is also about 31" longer. There's no arguing with these results.
@PlaneCrazyChannel A&P/IAs know about maintenance, but nothing they have to learn qualifies them for any kind of stress analysis. That's what engineers are for. Even amateur engineers. You cannot simply extend a wing of an existing design without some kind of structural analysis. Now, whoever did this may well have done some analysis and calculated what reinforcement was required, but sadly, I very rarely see this. An extra 3 ft of wings creates a serious amount of extra bending moment that cannot just be ignored. And the argument that "it hasn't failed yet" is a very poor one.
There are STC for that much wing extension. Can you say stay below maneuvering speed. Flew ag planes 30% over gross weight and stalled but didn't break.

Interesting that he didn't extent the fuselage when doing the wing extensions. I'd like to hear more about what limitations that imposes.

the owner is an A&P, IA so I imagine he knew where to take the design
