Very very cool. My dad was the last deputy marshall in Nome and Kotzebue area when I was little. He had some hair raising tales of flights on bush planes with pilots landing on pack ice. Statehood came and he lost his job to state police. Thanks for the memories.
I had the opportunity to meet Isaac and fly with him about 2 weeks ago. He took my fiancee and me up into the Talkeetna mountains and landed near the Chickaloon Glacier. The amount of skill and knowledge Isaac has is truly amazing. We flew in the M7 that Isaac has flown for a number of years, and that is an extremely capable airplane. I can only imagine what the green M7 can do being that much lighter.
Man, the production value of your videos is amazing. The music, the angles, the editing are top notch. Keep them coming please. One request would be for videos of off airport techniques where you combine your interviews with actual demonstrations of how these guys approach and land on these short strips. You can only learn so much from just a discussion.
You're a man after my heart, Isaac. That easy smile as you're telling your story says it all, you love what you're doing. I have a Maule that's even lighter than yours, 114 grammes, 51 cm wingspan Kootai RC model, it's so cool. You have to get yourself one, they're really cheap. I flew it today on a nearby hill in Japan. Ah so! Great fun! Great to see the real thing though. Happy landings, bro!
Isaac, you’re amazing! You’re the heart of Maule! Great job pushing the limits! Curious if you have ever flown a properly sorted Cessna 185? Would love to hear what you like and don’t like if so!
I'm all thumbs so you get 10 thumbs up!! I was hooked at 4 years old. Heard the sound of airplane at breakfast and run to the living room to spot it our the east double hung window! I remember it like it was yesterday and that was long ago.🤟
Amazing airplane! This is the best channel on U-Tube! Love the technical info on the airplanes. Please show as much "in depth behind the scenes" on the builds as possible. I want a bird that's proven and capable like a custom Maule or Cub but could never afford one. But I am capable of building one! These tips from the "real" backcountry pilots are invaluable in my opinion. Anyway, thank you for the videos and hurry up and make more! Lol.
Excellent video, amazing airplane, and a very grounded and humble breakdown of the mindset necessary to survive this kind of an occupation. Would love to see a video featuring the elder Beddingfield.
@AirplanesInTheWild just for me?!? You work quick! New fan of your channel. Finished two of your podcasts/interviews today. Looking forward to this one!
Keep up the great work with your videos Daniel !! You do fantastic interviews and have had some superb guests. I am so surprised you don’t have 10 times the number of subscribers… you should!! Also, keep building your seats. I will be contacting you soon about ordering new seats for my ‘56 Pacer. Great video, and I also liked your day out for coffee on a mountain video. Thanks again, Rusty
Wow, congrats to a great looking and obviously great flying aircraft! Amazing that you can go 127 mph in cruise without any fairings and big feet. What's your fuel burn at this speed? my short wing MX7 with the same motor, fairings and 8.5s will drink 12 gph LOP going fast. Really nice Video! Cheers from Germany
This is the most gorgeous M7 I have ever seen! Well done with your project!! When you're ready to sell this one cuz you've built a new one, let me know =)
I remember back in the early 80s, you saw a lot of maul. I think they came with three engines I like them I just didn't like the steering wheel but you got used to it😅
Would like to know how to best contact Isaac to arrange for flight if Isaac & co. is taking passengers now and then. Edit: found the link in description, never mind
so the takeoff distance, can one make it much shorter by having an electric motor with a lot of power and then have a cruise combustion engine? or a series hybrid with or just a small battery for takeoff boost. 10 x the power for 5 seconds or whatever
now that would be a nice camper van ,on floats , are we allowed an idea of price ,stall speed, and fuel [ though 1000 mi and 90 gal would indicate under 11 GPH to have a safety factor ,just heard the chinese are shaking things up with a claimed 60% actual thermal efficiency motor for hybrid use ,that is even better than F1 cars are getting ].
I have a STOL 750 and we Zenith flyers have an old saying about the looks: "It's so ugly that the earth repels it and that's why it can fly so low and so slow!" :)

How would I contact him to arrange for a flight? edit: never mind, I found the link in video description
My M6-235 weighed 1498. Aux tanks were appreciated for sure. That plane was amazing.
I've got an MT on my experimental maule. It's been a great prop. And we're at 300hp, which is nice out of short strips!
Very clear advise on how to fly in Alaska, I remember the good old days when I was there.
Some of the best flying advice given!

Great endorsement on the @MT-Propeller.

Top notch editing
Nicest Maule I’ve seen! Great job!

Thank you for this podcast channel! My husband and I have really enjoyed hearing from wild alaskan bush pilots!
Our pleasure! Thank you

super sweet plane, and that guy seems like a super chill cool dude.

Super cool family, the Beddingfields rock. Nice work on your M7 Isaac!!!
Very nice rig. I had a PA-18 with 160hp on 31’s, weighed 1107 lbs ( certified). Always worked for me at 93 mph. But that is a very nice maul!
What an amazing Maule. I would have bet big money you couldn't get one certified below 1500. That is awesome. Great guy too!
Yea pretty cool. Thanks for watching

You’re in luck. He will be on the podcast in about a week

Excellent...from an old taildragger rookie.

That's awesome! I have an M7-235C (technically an M9), was it Maul Air that got the field approval on the prop?
I can only dream these type of back country aviation is to flourish in Australia
Awesome TY Isaac
This is the most gorgeous M7 I have ever seen! Well done with your project!! When you're ready to sell this one cuz you've built a new one, let me know =)
He already sold it. He will be building a new one this winter to sell.
@@AirplanesInTheWild how do I get on the list? :)
Send me an email daniel@sportaircraftseats.com and I will get you in touch with him
Can this be built with stick and rudder? Incredible plane.
What did you do to achieve the light weight?
they ditched the engine
I remember back in the early 80s, you saw a lot of maul. I think they came with three engines I like them I just didn't like the steering wheel but you got used to it😅
Please write a book!

Having more power doesn’t help much with landing and adding weight is a detriment.
@@AirplanesInTheWild reverse thrust?
Got to ask... why aren't helicopters more popular Alaska? They seem to have the same benefits. So why Bush planes and not Helicopters?
They are more expensive to buy and maintain. But the main reason is that it’s illegal to use them to support hunting operations
Hi there.. I’m a 53 yr old Pilipino and would love to learn busy plane flying skills.
How to contact your airline company
I want to fly so bad I can taste it
👍👍👍
Noel Wein, besides your father, was I'm sure your hero.
Anyone know who is a tail wheel instructor in maules so i can get my endorsement?
Where are you located?
I worked with Isaac and there is not a finer solid pilot and decent person in this environment.
What's the best way to contact Isaac?
make one ultra short takeoff and landing
I like your channel it is good
My favourite hobby
(can you help me)
How do I get in touch with you guys?
With airplanes in the wild or with Isaac?

The only airplane uglier is a zenith
Love the aggressive thought look of the Zeniths, especially the 701 and Super Duty. Probably the best nose-wheel airplanes for off-field bush flying.
I have a STOL 750 and we Zenith flyers have an old saying about the looks: "It's so ugly that the earth repels it and that's why it can fly so low and so slow!" :)
