Shawn, this video is just like Christmas morning. Thank you for taking us along vicariously as you unwrapped each present and revealed its contents. I love watching videos like this. I sit here and imagine the fun and excitement you must have felt as you began diving into the sweet drum finds. One person’s junk can be another person’s treasure. Thank you so much for sharing this expedition with us. Oh, another viewer commented about that stand with the black plastic dome piece saying it might be a trumpet stand. I think that comment is right on. I was going to say trombone stand, as saw one once in a pile of drum stuff. I agree, I think it is a stand for some type of brass instrument. Happy holiday season to you and your loved ones.❤️🙏❤️🙏
Thanks man! It's definitely an adventure every time! And thanks for the info on the stand! You guys are a great help with stuff that stumps me! Happy new year!
I can't remember the exact year I got mine, could have been 85' as well! I added a second bass drum later on. Solid drums for the $ thanks for watching!
Love the videos mate. I know you're a busy guy, but just wondering if there's another restoration series on the horizon? All the best, see you next year!
Thanks man! There is one in the works but it may still be a few, I was going to work on it this week but now moving most of this stuff is a priority haha thanks for watching!
Great find Shawn, I agree with Hardware is hard work. The Exports will make a great kit for someone, I still play a set with an Icon rack. Storage units are not good to drums. Love your posts.
Great deal! But you’re not wrong, so much time and effort to move all of it. And can understand your stance on hardware - pieces MacGyver’d together and almost always rusty. 😂
Thanks man and for sure! 2 days sorting and cleaning lol Always rusty, mix matched, half broken haha if it was all new DW stuff or something I could value it but a random collection, nope lol thanks for watching!
Hey Shawn, I enjoy your content. Always some diy nuggets to stash! My first kit was also a new Export in 86 (Wine Red Metallic). I wanted the Tama Swingstars, cuz deeper toms (lol) but they were 3 bills more and that 3 bills got me most of 3 Zildjians, so no brainer. I gigged & recorded with it around Tampa and central Fl in the late eighties. Ebony Pinstripes And Ebony Ambassadors looked & sounded great on it. Amazing how Pearl and Tama could make lauan sound so good. Anyway, solid haul for 2 bills for sure! I suspect the guy you dealt with is the Worcester county craigslist weirdo that posts a million ads trying to move his s**t, but can't make a meet on time and wants top money for anything he thinks is remotely valuable. Glad I didn't have to meet his dink friend the drunk. Hope all is good, see you on the toob!
Awesome man! I've never met that spamming weirdo and never will! I would never deal with him on principle alone haha I've heard horror stories! Thanks for watching man and the kind words! Take care brother!
@@shawnsdrumcave hope all is well on your end as well. Happy New Year! Mine is the slave side single chain model. If you have a half that matches that I'd be interested in it. It could be double chain but I prefer the single just because they seem so light and fast. As I'm writing I'm thinking that they also had different cam configurations so that would be important lol Really nice haul on this one.
Thanks man! Everything's great! The one in this video the teeth are bent over on the sprocket 🤣 I think I actually have a sprocket though haha the other one is single chain, the two beaters on a single tower. Hit me up on fb or instagram you got me curious so I took some pictures lol
I'm still waiting for a response from the person that said "is it still available" 2wks ago 😂😂😂. I've passed up a bunch of deals because the drums needed too much work and I know myself when it comes to restoring, I don't do it 😅😅.
Haha true story! I love working on the vintage stuff, newer stuff doesn't excite me as much anymore. I really got into the hobby buying/selling kits like these but now it's like do I spend my time working on something worth thousands I'm interested in or hundreds also knowing people will take care of the vintage stuff where these kits have a good chance of being neglected and beat up again lol
Great find! Happy Holidays my friend. Look forward to more great drum videos in 2024! Be well everyone!
Thanks man! Have a great new year!
That stand with the rubber cone thing on top might be a trumpet stand.
F'n good call man! It does look like that's what it is! You guys are the best, a few viewers have helped me identify things. Thank you 🙏
No prob. Pretty sweet haul I thought. Happy new year
The Ludwig spur -lok.looks pretty good it’s a classic.
I believe it is, I need to really look everything over, no clutch though. Have a great new year!
Hey… Hope you’re doing great. Thanks for the video.
Thanks brother, all good, hope you as well! Thanks for watching my nonsense haha
Another great find Shawn! I love hearing about your process!
Thanks earl! Hope you had a great Xmas and happy new year!

Thanks man! Hope all is well!

The spitfire was a budget kit that Tre Cool put his name to in the 90s
I've seen his kits from back then! Thanks for watching!

They're great first sets! Or practice sets but honestly I've seen people play out with them and they sound great mic'd up too! Thanks for watching 🙏
You got a trumpet stand in that hardware!
Thanks man!

Thanks man! Nothing wrong with exports, excellent drums for the money, work horses!

Thanks man! Sorry I do not have time to take on any work besides my own projects but If you need any advice hit me up on my FB or Instagram pages!
Dude why are the floor toms always missing legs? Over here there are many like that.
Always...
Did the black export come with a 14” or 18” floor tom?
