This kit, typical of Slingerlands, has a lot more life and body in the sound, compared to a lot of other kits. That’s why Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich loved them..
What MANY drummers don't realize, is from the mid 1960's going back; drum makers were NOT cutting down trees that had not matured!! So when you hear this kit from the 1950's you can add around 30+ years to the age of the wood! That is where the sound is!!! From the late 1960's on and with the starting of mass producing drums, cheaper woods were found, and short cuts in the drum manufacture using sealers and chemicals in the wood process. You won't and can't this sound out of new drums!! Only the specialized drum makers are doing it old school!
beautiful. all of it. I personally think the tuning should be higher, especially with the mallets. but that's probably just because that's how I do it. nice work brother.
I love how your demo's are musical and not about showing how super fast one is.tks
This is a fabulous buy for Slingerland Radio Kings…
The favourite drums of Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich…
Brilliant sounding toms.
i came here for the kit, but i stayed for the cymbals - wow! great sound and great playing! hoping i can stop by the NY shop soon...
Best toms I've ever heard in my life...
They are real deal.
Sweet sounding drums.
Slingerland toms have the best sound! That is one sweet looking and sounding kit!
Sounds great! Nothing like glass glitter over traditional sparkles!
The entire set sounds great, including the cymbals, but that snare & splash caught my attention.
Totally agree, just a shame that minty calf front bass drum head has that massive hole cut out in it. Should've used a used Remo white Ambassador.
I can't listen to a Buddy Rich solo from start to finish but I can listen to Noah till he stops playing. Wonderful playing.
you must be deaf
So many of these kits demoed at Maxwell leave me asking why anyone would ever need more than a four piece kit. Awesome sounds here.
Absolutely beautiful 50’s drum kit, I can’t believe how good the condition is. Very very clean looking kit
Such warmth from those.
Great demo and kit. Love the color my favorite shade of blues with sparkles no less.
Wowww
Mid '50s Sound kings. Slingerland's more modern hardware. TV was invented, so Radio King was dated. Now they are treasured!
Nice kit, good player

Radio King is Back!🎶
It will take a brand new kit 7 or 8 years to settle into the aged Tone these drums have.
This why slingerland was the brand back in the day.
Beautiful set, excellent playing 🏆
Time to Polka!❤

How do early 40's Radio King compare to these please ?
Same shells. Newer hardware. Same sound if you compare them with identical heads.
