Solo Motorcycle Camping Trip High in the Colorado Rockies

I got super lucky and scored a campsite reservation at one of Colorado's most beautiful campgrounds just off the Peak to Peak Scenic Byway. Sitting at over 10,000 feet in elevation and nestled along the Continental Divide, Brainard Lake and the Pawnee Campground area are extremely picturesque of the Colorado Rockies. I decided to load up the bike and ride the Peak to Peak Highway up into the mountains for a night of solo motorcycle camping.
In the morning, we hike up to Lake Isabelle, and encounter a moose on the trail. This was definitely the highlight of my moto camping trip!

After watching your camping video, I wanted to share an unexpected camping meal I had about 15 years ago. My wife and I rode our 1994 HD Heritage Softail Classic to Beaver Lake located in Northwest Arkansas. We planned on camping over-night and return home the next afternoon. We brought along just a small meal of "junkie" type food snacks. Well, after we arrived and set up our camp with a small 3-man tent, we took a stroll just to look things over. During this walk, I started talking to this older gentleman and his wife about their huge motorhome camper and how nice it was as a camper rig. After they found out we were going to share a "brown bag" supper, they invited us to eat dinner with them. To our surprise they treated us to a really nice steak dinner over the open flame pit. It was really good. I demanded they allow my wife and I to clean the dishes and help put things away. They were really cool to offer us this meal. We have always enjoyed camping on my motorcycle because you meet such nice people. Continue to enjoy your channel! Be safe. :)

@@ridetofood Yes, there are still a lot of nice people in the world. This is what I love about motorcycles. They allow, we the riders, to release stress. I always feel better after a nice afternoon ride. Sort of new to your channel. The video you shot in Wilson Arkansas was about 30 miles East of where I grew up. That video was what attracted me to your channel. Also, one last question: Did you buy that HD Low Rider ST you posted a video on your channel? I really liked that bike. Take care now.

Thanks for Shering the camping with us. Its a bit like camping in Sweden... Beautiful Moose. I have seen anny Musse for some years but i have small deers around my house. 6-8 animals. Not shy at all. Helloo from a could (-5 c ) Sweden.

Great video as always, Stacy. Here in Central NY we have them stored for the winter. Unfortunately I didn’t have to store mine this year, a 84 year old lady turned left in front of me. Yup, you guessed it. Totaled bike and severely broken rider. Hopefully be on my feet soon. Still have a lot of therapy to go. I will make a full recovery. However I’m not replacing the bike. Next person who turns in front of me is going to feel how hard the front end of a F350 is. God Bless you and Ride safe. I now live vicariously through you and a couple other channels.

Another great video. I recently watched your older video about overcoming PTSD and that Crown Vic that almost put you down. That was a pretty brave thing to do, going back and riding that curve. Solo camping is always the best. Im the same way I don't camp near the house either only on long trips. Beautiful area for sure although if i lived near that scenery I may ho more often. Lol, Great video.

Stacey, what a great video! I usually enjoy your destination videos. To me the journey is often as good as the destination, and you document these very well. But this one, close to your home, had vivid photography, the drone footage was awesome. And the Moose and your story telling was just fantastic! Keep these coming.. I hope to make Colorado soon. Peak to Peak is one of my favorite daytime rides. I live in Windsor so for me it's up 34 through Estes to Nederland then home. Ever head up the Poudre Canyon? Never thought about a camp night up there, looks like a great time - Thanks for sharing!
I rode up there in 2020 when most places were still shut down/not open for sit in dining (the Mish) ...haven't been back since, and last summer it was on fire if I remember correctly lol ...with that being said I'll definitely make my way up there this summer!! :)

Awesome video ! We take for granted that some of the most beautiful rides are right next to home , I live 2 hours from Seneca Rocks Wva …. Which I escape too every chance I get . I want to do the overlook,but they tell me it takes 4 hrs , so I have to sleep over …. Wondered if you did that …. Take care !

Nice. I am going to do one or two shake down gear checks this summer prior to the August run out to RMR in Montana. I hope my old gear is still in good shape as I used the heck out of it a decade or two ago. lol I may be getting new gear.

July 2021, I was hiking the Appalachian Trail through New Hampshire and Maine - I saw lots of moose poop but no moose! I'm jealous!
