I turned a PS3 controller into an RC transmitter with a functional boost button

  • I've always been a gamer. But, I'm rather new to the RC hobby and am not a fan of the standard RC transmitters. Since there isn't a purchasable video game controller transmitter, I decided to make one. I slowed down the speed to emphasize the boost effect. It's still a work in progress and I have some more functions left to program. But, I'm hoping to have something ready for production in the next few months.

    Hey bro, just saw you on SunlessKhan's video. I know you don't have many views right now but keep doing the good stuff, this is excellent work and it's getting even better as I can see here! I know you just do it for fun but I think this is definitely gonna explode soon! :)

      Can i ask what i said on facebook aswell have you locked the diffs up for slow or do you have it on gear box?

    • @rcautoball
      @rcautoball  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@andyroo8uk685 Nothing special to the gearing. They're all brushless, but the bodies are heavy and only running on 2S or 3S. The lighter ones (Fennec and Dominus) are on 2S and the heavier ones (Merc and Octane) on 3S.

      @rcautoball  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is not. I have a regular full-time job, but I'd like for this to grow so I can maybe make this my full-time job. I'd definitely rather be making/running an RC car soccer league for a living. Lol. Might have the cars for sale in the future.

    Nice job. Scratching my head on this on an armed rover I built. Did you use the rc reciever or are you running through a microcontroller?

      Thanks! Definitely didn't do it myself. Microcontroller with the help of a couple of people.

    Hi. Xbox 360 controller directly works with rc car or there is some configuration requires?

    • @rcautoball
      @rcautoball  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It can, but it's a much more complicated process because it doesn't use a regular Bluetooth configuration. So, you have to use different hardware to make it work.

    that's wonderful . How many meters could the PS3 controller command result in...?

    • @rcautoball
      @rcautoball  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I moved to PS5 controllers about a year and a half ago. They're Bluetooth connected, so the range isn't good. They'll get about 60 meters with line of sight. If obstructed, about 30-40 meters. It works great for what I use them for (soccer with RC cars), so it's not a deal-breaker for me.
