@Drone Mesh how could one wire this up so that instead of plugging into an external module you can plug into a trainer port via a 3.5mm jack or even wireless bluetooth trainer

Hmm. The fret for throttle, you have to repeatedly hit it. The buttons are jaw, and roll. And the tilt up is for pitch.

This is awesome. I’ve always wanted to try some fpv with a full computer joystick and throttle and looked for a solution a couple years ago but came up empty. Definitely going to look into buying a used joystick and pick up an arduino now.
PC Joystick with throttle would be pretty cool to see, as would seeing an rc-pistol grip controller with trigger throttle.

It could be possible to control ordinary rc vehicles through the internet. (Latency will probably be to high to fly races with friends though)

Haha, everything that flies is illegal where I'm at, so I may just have to do this. My neighbors are going to be like "honey, why is there some dude sitting on the roof using steering wheel and a box on his face?". Lol! Gotta see how far out I can drive with my Ham radio licence as a nice perk! Can't fly out of line of sight even if it was legal here, but hey, they don't say anything about RC cars. I wonder if they sell mini state tags for 1/16 scale nitro cars... I'd gladly pay 1/16 the price!

I really liked your video; very educative. I'm a beginner in all this stuff and was wondering if using the modules were mandatory? Can it be done with the PS3 , arduino , shield and drone only because the modules are a bit expensive and I have a very limited budget for now.
Thank you so much for this. I had a bunch of issues, but worked through them...mostly matching up frsky tx and rx firmware. I found code for logitech 3D, and it works very well. Just need to build a plane and throw it on!
Thanks for the great video! How can you tell if any other "multi-modules" are compatible? I'm still learning about PWM/PPM but I'd love to build a similar device but I'm not sure why old certain multi-modules would be compatible?

It may sounds complicate for flying rc models but imagine a simplier model like Logitecth wheel and paddle set controlling a fpv rc car. You'll get a real world car simulator.

Nice work! I was curious if I can use this same code with a Saitek. I'm looking to repurpose and Saitek X45 as a controller for a fixed wing trainer for FPV testing etc. Conceptually it seems the same but it looks like I would need need a library specific to Saitek or Logitech?

Could that digital output pin 3 go straight to the FC rx pad? You can ask why but I'm gonna get some hate. Trying to connect controls straight to the FC because I will actually be on board not remote. I'm a mechanical engineer and the only software engineers at work don't seem to want to help.

If you’re having a problem with the throttle not getting to zero, you should be able to set a minimum value to think it’s at zero when it’s actually at, for example, 8.
If you see the code I dropped the map to 800 to 2000 to combat that issue... There is a lot of ways to handle it ;)
And now add a bluetooth for telemetry and config via phone. Pack in a 3d printed box and start selling them! :)
