    I think the idea for trimming with the Tango 2 is to double click the scroll wheel and you will get audio cues for setting the trims. Not quite as good as real trim buttons, but pretty close.

      Yeah, pretty clumsy though. I have enough trouble trimming when there are separate levers so I simply keep flying on the sticks, land and crank in some trim while it's on the ground. Lather, rinse, repeat :-)

    Awesome review, Bruce! Thanks! 😃
    The only other small radio I can think about right now is the one from BetaFPV. It does 2.4Ghz ELRS natively and no screen and so on. It's REALLY tempting... But I don't know if I would trust anything in a radio made by BetaFPV... 😕
    Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

    You mention solvent to get the sticky coating off. Before anyone goes out there and attacks their devices with something aggressive that could also damage the plastic underneath: all you need is alcohol and grease. More specifically, isopropyl alcohol and elbow grease (TM). Oh, and cotton pads (the one the missus uses to undo her makeup) and q-tips.

    Loved the size and feel of my old xlite. Just hated the open TX and constant protocol changes. When Spektrum builds one with proper trim switches in the correct place and two sliders on the back I will buy it.

    Thank you for supporting the fixed wing community. Most of these game pad tx's are aimed at the drone pilots. I'm bummed that the T Lite is sold out everywhere. It's got the switches that I'm looking for.

    Main radio is a 9303 or X11. Have a X12 and a couple of back ups. And the 72mh, I would have to round them all up and count. And a virgin X-lite that I have to figure how to load the old original software so I can fly whoops. This winter while frozen in I have to get back to school, utube school and see if I still can learn software. Much prefer JR, but none of my thousand dollar radios talk, so I will find out about old dogs and new tricks. Keep on with the work Bruce, enjoy!

    When the rubber goes sticky like on your jumper or aomway try using 91% or high % isopropyl alcohol to clean it an it goes back to normal.

    Wish they would make precision gimbals for the tango 2, if anything it needs them using a single hall-effect sensor that is sensitive to X/Y mechanical drift, rather than two individual chips for each axis...

    • @spikester
      @spikester 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can see this when your gimbal often shifts one axis by like 2 digits when doing full travels on the other axis... as one of the mechanical axis is shifting out of calibration. I had to fix my tango 2 which had a loose gimbal bearing out of the box. Most gimbals use hall-effect sensors in a potentiometer-like config of typical gimbals, where the tango 2 the distance of the magnet in the centre of the stick to the sensor also matters, any shift here and it becomes out of calibration.

    • @spikester
      @spikester 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The magnet even changing temperature causes this drift due to it expanding/contracting, the board mounted single hall-effect sensor was mostly cost cutting, not sure what the other cheaper gamepad radios have.

    Hi Bruce Great video on the new style rc radio's. I have a ton of radio's all the way back to 72 mh, I have been flying standard radio's for 50 years and now with arthritis in my hands I switched over to the FRSKY Xlite. The only problem I have is that I can't fly and pinch the controls. But if I just use my thumbs then it will show up in my video it will jump around. So now I am looking at the Jumper T12, Thanks again for the video and information. Thanks again for the video and information on different types of radio's.

    I will say the ergonomics of a conventional Tx makes me long for something else. Those bulky box-shaped units with 29-11 channels and 500 switches and knobs all over doesn't really come in a friendly package, even with my massive hands.

    Love my jumper t-lite will be adding the elrs module next also thinking what you said about the radiomaster for the sim i paid the same price for the xbox controller and the radiomaster would be perfect to leave connected for that price

    I use game controller type radio, I had 2/3rd degree burns on my hand, and they just work better than standard box radio, the only drawn back for me is not a fan of open Tx, I just like the simple old interface, Taranis X-Lite , Flysky FS-NV14

    Why doesn't those have proper joysticks and R L trigger buttons for way better driving? What's the point then? I don't get why RC transmitters have to be so bad to control. Game controls make it all right.

    Bruce, which relatively inexpensive drone would you recommend, for a rookie drone flyer?

    • @mrfpv
      @mrfpv 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have many drones and flown for approx five years check my channel and i highly recommend the emax baby hawks full kit goggles transmitter drone with prop guards and bats great value for a starter with room to allow your skills to improve to eventually move up to the more powerfull 5inch beasts i wish i had a emax when i started it would have saved a lot of money repairing everytime i hit a branch etc hope this helps

    My old turnigy evolution is still the best form factor in my opinion. It would need the buttons of the Lite and open TX with multiprotocol of course but screen size, overall shape and integrated antenna are still better than these modern revisions I reckon.

    • @5zero7RC
      @5zero7RC 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree! I started with the Turnigy Evolution and moved to the Tango 2, but the Evolution still fits my hands the best :)

  • @Gosuminer
    @Gosuminer 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I prefer the traditional bulky radios but smaller ones are great if you need to fit everything in a backback. That being said I wouldn't buy a radio that doesn't use (a fork of) OpenTX and let me easily use an ExpressLRS or Crossfire module. BTW: Is there a software trim option in OpenTX and if not wouldn't that be a really good idea?

    • @Tobi-xj8xw
      @Tobi-xj8xw 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm pretty sure there is a instant trim function you assign to a button where it takes the position of the sticks so for eksempel with a plane you move the sticks so the plane stays level then click the button and then it's trimmed

  • @loodwich

    I had a problem with the Jumper TLite, both gimbals were stuck in the upper position. I found that gimbals have a short circuit that gives the upper signal all the time, soldering I was able to isolate it, and now works fine. Could you make a review of your gimbals connectors?

    As a "pincher" the game console style radios have never been attractive to me. However, one cannot ignore the portability factor. The Jumper T8SG was the ultimate compromise for me on all accounts touched on in this video.

    • @nitro_nicksrc9629

      My first “real” radio was the T8SG and it is still my favourite radio. Still going strong and most of my models are on it. I agree that it is a really nice size and I do like Deviationtx. The T Lite is also good and I use it for my Eachine mini warbirds and OMP S720, where the opentx omp protocol allows me to get battery voltage telemetry and signal strength announcements on the T Lite. However, I don’t think it will replace my T8SG. Great review Bruce. Take care and keep the vids coming. Loved to see Ron in his orange hard hat in your latest xjet vid.... ;)

    I have a lot of spektrum stuff and use a dx8. Ive got smaller hands and often find myself struggling to hold my TX for extneded peried of times. I just dont know enough about these types of radios to find something in this small form factor that would be just as good.
