@ lol, I'm assuming you must be a snowflake. What I was referring to was the fact Of the GAUGE of metal that was used to build the car. Cars back then you could sit on the hood lean on the fenders and they would not buckle. Today's cars you barely touch and it buckles. Bends, flexes however you phrase it. Glad I could teach you something today.

@@KubiIay I disagree. These newer cars are made to collapse in certain parts of the frame in a collision. The older cars or not made like that they are strong hard Steel. And they were really heavy. These newer cars or lighter with thinner metal collapse a lot easier.

Omg she's beautiful!! My dad has a hard top he gave it to my brother. I remember going to Sabinos in Vanderwegan. Dad would buy us Garfield bubble gum suckers. Then we'd cruise to Gallup NM. I always remember scared heart hill on 602 caz my brother would whisper to me he was going to ask dad for it. Now my brother owns her, she's sleeping in the garage next door. 🤗
That's a nice machine you have there! My mom's first car was the same chassis ( tuxedo black with a blood red interior) R.I.P mom💙. Car gal made me a car Guy.

My cousin inherited a car similar to this from our grandfather. His Impala was a beautiful aqua blue color. It had a tube radio that needed to warm up before it would work.
Love '59 convertibles. My dad had a yellow one. White top .. & sounds weird .. but a green interior. Circa' 1962 to '63. One of my favorites. His was a 348 with a 1960 3 deuce top end. Progressive linkage. 3 speed on the column. M/T wheels with the 3 bars. He flipped his tail lights inside out .. & swapped sides. Also blacked out his front grille. Leaving the chrome bullets exposed. Black electrical tape. Hey .. he was in high school !!! Did what you could afford.
I agree. On the 1960 models they changed the rear edge of the fins to two straight bars. The '59 looked graceful. The '60 looked broken. IMHO. Not that I would turn down a nice '60 though.
From the year I was born I haven't seen one of those in over 40 years and even then it wasn't one is beautifully restored as this one man that is one drop dead gorgeous car
I have a gentleman down the road, who has a 58 hardtop, in canary yellow. With every Aftermarket accessories you could get for that car in 1958. And, he's the original owner. That car is beautiful. 58 and 59, were the two best years for Chevrolet. Style, performance, luxury... The total package... The real deal. The 58 Impala is one of the most important automobiles. Because, the Tucker came out in 49, with a padded dashboard. A pop-out windshield. And seatbelts. All three of those features would not appear again in one car until... 58 Impala. Today's Impala.. is a Rubbermaid Pop can.
That is a beautiful car...I always liked the bat wing Chevy......Those fins have to be in the top 5 of most outrageous fins of all time......Now it's time for you to "See the USA in your "59 Chevrolet."👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Nice i use to own one had a 283 w power pack heads and a carter 4g carb and power glide ,and it handled like a big boat .top speed was 107mph ,but it was all i had to drive,im glad thoses days are over,now i drive an 03 cobra and its pure enjoyment every time i go some where and its top speed is 170mph and has a factory mach 1000 sterio in it thats sounds better than my home unit,thank god for modern things,bye now.
My buddy and his dad had a 60 impala it ran 10.13 qm. They made them stop racing it at Norwalk because they wouldn't put roll cage and all disc brakes. Was amazing to see such a large vehicle fly.
