Danny, I'm sure the boys and their father will carry your history and your stories for generations to come. You were all meant to find each other. A wonderful story.
Oh boy; I hope you folks keep in touch with that man and update him on your progress. A man like that deserves to get the satisfaction out of seeing you boys building what was once his dream. He's just reaching out and giving you everything he could have sold at premium rates.
You need to start with $ 18,250 just for the basic body for a New improved 1957 Chevy convertible from Reel Deal Steel. Needs front parts, fenders, grill, trim and accessories, etc. Still a great deal 👌 Wealth of parts seems highly appropriate here.
This really hit home! I'm 71 and starting over on a 56 Chevy that I have had for 50 years. It's on the lift in my new shop and I hope I live long enough to drive it again. If not, my Son will get to finish it. He's a car guy too and is building a 68 Camaro. I would love to see this story continue with this 57, even just unloading all that stuff and sorting it out. What fun!! :) :)
Listen up, folks. Danny Elliott is a hero. He knows what this stuff is and he's getting rid of it right. If you don't do this, there is a more than even chance it's going to turn into scrap metal. Imagine most of that stuff going to the scale, because no one knew what it was. Turns out I didn't go first, so I have to deal with three life-collections of crap, most of which I know nothing about. For my stuff, I didn't have any kids or grandkids that were interested, so I gave my roller, a '68 Mustang, to my eldest niece for graduation, which she never took out from under the cover, but her sister's husband fell in love with it so now it's cared for. The rest of my stuff I will find a good home for. But what about all of this other stuff? I don't have any context for why this or that might be important. Danny moved his stuff along while he is still around to provide that context. I believe the phrase the military uses is 'get your affairs in order'. Don't leave your family or friends to deal with your affairs. Move your stuff along while you are still around. Thanks, Mr. Elliott.
There was a time when I pursued classic cars, restored some, had as daily drivers many of them, and I was always bothered by those people who wouldn't sell some old gem yet they left it there to rot. It just makes no sense. If you don't have it in you to get it done sell it to someone who will. It is a part of our automotive history and we should preserve as many of these old cars as we can. Side note, I am 64 and my first car ever was a 57 Chevy Belair with a three speed on the floor. I drove that car like I was demon possessed. So many good memories!
@@bradjohnson8100 I never understood that mindset. I've driven past a few vehicles in my area sitting next to houses for 30 or more years, and I've watched them slowly rust away to nothing.
Great story, thanks for taking us along. I thought to myself the man was not only honest but generous. He could have easily sold only the basic shell, frame, fenders ect. and the rest on Ebay or others. I was blown away when he pulled out NOS manifolds, tissue dispenser in the old green GM box. You could have knocked me over when he opened those correct green floor mats. I've been looking for a set for my Impala for years. Good luck to the buyer, been there done that, it will be a memorable jigsaw journey. Cheers.
Yes, some opertunistic sellers only think of tearing down a classic car for their parts value alone. It's nice to see a person who really cares & wants these older cars to remain on driving down the road.
I was fascinated with his story buying a '57 Chevy for $75 when he was 15 years old, which would have been 1962. I had to put this story into the video in full at the end.
Danny you are a legend, teaching those guys so much with your very interesting stories. Not only giving them huge quantities of parts but also imparting much knowledge. A gr8 video to watch. Thankyou Jerry and everyone involved. Please show the finished show car driving on the road. 👏😊👍
What a great display of passion that he has of that car!!!!!! Maybe y’all can get it done where he can sit down in it again!!! Lots of fun telling his story about it to!!!!!!!
Once in a lifetime? Very few people ever find something like that in their lives so I’d say it’s more like a once in 50 lifetimes find…. and that’s if all 50 of those people are searching for such a find all day every day for decades.
Danny Elliott, I salute you sir for having the foresight and the willingness to pass all the stuff you had collected over the many years. And for passing the knowledge along to go with it. Well, sadly, most people you meet today are not even interested in restoring a classic 1957 Chevy. It seems people now just want a modern car to drive. Classic car rebuilding takes time, money, & lots of energy. Its nice to see a new owner family who appreciates this great classic car. I think it was genius to make this video for a record of everything about every part of this historical car that old man is sharing with you so that nothing is forgotten because your going to need to reference this when deciding what parts to put back on this beauty when the assembly starts. I can't help but wonder how much money it took for an Old man like this to finally part with this extravagate collection that took five decades to collect. That man is beyond being just a mere treasure. In treasure form it would require combining everything ever found in The Valley Of The Kings in Egypt to be his equal because he not only is willing to part with a rare find of a car, but also not only has pretty much every part and every option that it could have been ordered with including extremely rare ones but he has duplicates of so many parts that more cars could be rebuilt from the spare parts, and he has and shares the knowledge about each individual part ranging from how rare each is, where he got it, when he got it, how much he paid for it and what it’s current actual value is for each and every piece. Then his knowledge of and stories about the cars actual history and his desire to share it and his wanting the car to go to a good home to be completed and having a smile on his face and a happiness in his voice while doing this even as he not only watches such a big part of his life being loaded up but even helping to load it up and saying what parts need to be put in the truck to be better protected. You don’t find people like him very often and most people would either let it sit there until they die or would have sold it all in 30 different directions years ago.

@@2packs4sure if you read my post I wasn't meant to knock on them so they knock on me I was just saying it looks better with a continental kid if that's your choice not to that's your choice
That continental kit was sharp! We had a couple of them in our city . They were classy looking.
My father in law gave me his 57 2 door hardtop before he went to assisted living. It has the dual antenna set up on it as well. He hot rodded it back in the 1970's very cool looking. Wish I had a ragtop though. Good find.
If you had a video up of it this would be a watch like and a comment 👍
I could cry about this. He is a true hero. Thank you for sharing.
