What an awesome channel! I'm a truck mechanic myself and I truly appreciate the way you show how it is in reality to work on older vehicles. With all the pain in the butt included. You are not hiding any failures or mishaps and this really makes your channel something unique. But the best thing is your optimism about everything! I'm glad I found you!

Since I live in the desert, the first thing I noticed about your farm truck was what looks like a perfect dash pad.
And I think you could save that hood, some angle iron on the inside could replace the 2x4s
Even that evap canister could be worth money to some poor soul like me who still has to smog an '85 Suburban.

You are a braver man than me with regard to opening the Pandora's box that is the Automatic Gearbox. Manual boxes you see gears and selectors and lay shafts and idler gears and can easy see how it does its thing. Autos are full of enough demons and magical happenings to stump Harry Potter - and one look inside them is enough to drive a cold spike through the stoutest petrolhead's heart. I always believed the rebuild kits were something put out by the manufacturers to have us believe they did actually have a mechanical innards, but you never hear of anyone who has rebuilt an auto in their garage, do you? Maybe once they popped the cover to the inner workings, the demons got them......I don't know, but I do wish you all the luck in the world if you attempt the endeavour to make one work as intended. All the best!

Yesterday I had to teach a professional grocery bagger to not put the eggs in the bottom of the bag. He was going to put the eggs on the bottom of the bag and pile everything else on top. This is the world we live in now where nobody has situational awareness anymore or common sense. If I still lived in KC I'd offer to come by and teach you how to rebuild those slushboxes. They're actually pretty easy to do. Automatic transmissions are actually a little easier than manual transmissions to rebuild. LOTS of snap rings in them though! Maybe some time when I'm in town visiting family.

God daym!!! I was not expecting to see a blue Chevy G30 (Beauville?) Churchmobile. I have its twin but with a 350 and good trans however same problem with the rust... the the frame became one with the Earth again and the rear axle is suffering from hands-free disassembly whenever I move it.

Watching u work with your boy makes me think of working with my dad on cars. I admire your patience 🙂 cuz when that wheel wheel block was under the wheel and u guys were pushing, you took it in stride, whereas I could already hear my dad "wha... What the... MOVE THE DAMN BLOCK!!! JESUS KID!!!" 😅😅😅😅

GM switched to torx head bolts because they are less likely to fall off the bit during assembly. When one falls off a bit, the worker doesn't look for it on the floor, they just grab a new one. Switching to torx from Phillips head bolts saved gm a lot of money

Worked on a GM assembly line for 7 years, we dropped plenty of torx. And stripped even more lol

I live about an hour and a half from KC but I’m on the KS side. Fully entertaining videos.
A guy near me was selling a square body and I was thinking of buying it to fix up but the guy wanted too much. It was a step side but it was 2wd and 3/4 ton 1987 Chevy with the 350. The frame and body were in pretty decent shape. Good shape for how old it was but still rusty. It misfired and ran rough. He wanted four grand for it so it just sat and didn’t sell.
