I had a 71 LTD two door, the car would not die! Bought it with 75,000 mi.'s and sold it with 225,000 miles on it, A/C still worked, the lady that bought it, drove it for another 100,000 miles, and sold it, with 325,000 on it! I lost track of it after that! Had the 351 Windsor, 2 bbl. and it got 24 MPG on the highway! Great car!
Honestly if the frame is good on that car I feel like it’s worth fixing it would be a fun summertime cruiser

I had a 71 LTD 2dr and it had the 400 in it. Mine was only 8 years old when I had it, so not in that bad of shape! That thing was a hauler for sure!
Now I miss my '71 LTD fire engine red convertible. It too had the 400 engine which was the smoothest engine and best running engine I had ever driven. I wouldn't mind having another one. Great cars!
Another quality destructional video from PBG! Those vinyl tops caused so many rusted out roofs, but that one was next level.
My grandfather had this exact same car in the 73 flavor and it was also the metallic green. I remember the very 1st day of kindergarten my mother who died 2 weeks ago drove me to school and asked if she wanted me to go up to school with her and I told her no I can do it by myself. Well I went up to the front of the school and got scared and another kid ran to where my mom was which was about a 1/4 mile away and went and got her And she came backup to comfort me.

I love that you take the time to mess with absolute gems 💎 of the previously loved automotive world. The funny part is I have no interest in the car but just love watching a couple of knuckleheads do what they do 😂. I had the 4-door version 400 engine. 1972 was repainted late 70's. Made it to less than 100,000 miles, the engine was good, but the body rusted so fast. The doors had no bottoms, and the trunk had no tail. Loved the car. I drove it for a couple of years, then the brakes went, and that was all they wrote. It had a white vinyl roof that was solid and hard no cushion. Cleaned it with. Comet cleaner with bleach $4.500.00 Dad bought it new. I remember how much fun it was to boot it into overdrive. Sadly sat on the porch watching it be towed away.
This is the most scariest thing I’ve seen you do but also one of the most impressive. The editing was a bit jumpy at first but the repair section was great. I’m not sure to call the paramedics or stand up and clap for this.
Hat's off to you, the music at the end of the carwash was perfect 70's car chase stuff.

My 74 Ltd sat for 40 yrs . Only had 39000 on it. Just finished it up. She is sweeeeet now.

Yep some brown and tan smugglers rugs seat covers would really set the interior off the oil pressure is probably low because the old brittle umbrella seals took a field trip to the oil pump pickup 😁
This brings back memories ! Bought a 72 Galaxy with 69 grand on it for $50 ! Daily driver for 3 years ! Totalled by a hit and run in front of my house ! Swapped the motor out with a 78 LTD that I bought for $50 on the front lawn with the help of a 50 year old

26:43 I had an idea for the sharp top of that panel.
Cut ya piece of the chainlink pipe (or some pipe that fits) cut it down the length and weld it on!
If ya got one of those toppers, cut it in half and weld it on the end of the pipe next to the door so it looks smooth. LOL
I love simple mods and hacks like this!

There's a video on YT called "70's Ford car assembly plant L T D" that may shock you at how quickly that car was built. People think a car is sort of hand-built, but it's far from it. They had a big pile of those 2bbl carbs on a table putting them together, the engines got painted by automated sprayers, and they showed the guy putting on the inside roof insulation under that very top that rotted out...he used a roller on a long handle and just swiped it on there..two big pieces in the front and middle and a thin strip in the rear

Brings back memories of my parents car , a 1974 Ltd 4 door blue and white police interpreter engine also . Poor thing lost oil pressure and pump then locked up Dad ended up buying a 1984 Ford escort 4 door 1.4 liter if I remember, I remember it being the smallest eng available for the year I ended up destroying it.
That is a beautiful car and I like the convertible style in warm weather that is going to be a fun car. I am looking forward to your next video.

If you build the structure you can get a vinyl shop to make a snap down vinyl canvas top
I had this exact year car and model two door and all as my first car. It was dark green and drove like a dream. The top had one rust bubble (very small at the time). Wish I knew where it was now...

Me and my mate did the same to a 74 Toyota 1.6l carola and drove it round all summer but we had to weld the doors shut before we cut the roof off
It was really good fun with a 9inch grinder and a mig set once the MOT ran out it just got parked up in a field

Ford tilt wheel is built in to the turn signal stalk...push it forward towards dash....its a cheezy tilt system....we had a 1974 LTD wagon with a 400 2 barrel..it ran so bad and left us stranded alot.
Gonna have to go and watch White Lightning again.

use spray foam to fix the areas where you cut off the roof then you can trim it round so no sharp edges
