    In 1996, I found and bought a 1973 Torino with 29,400 original miles. It was like new, garage kept, factory belts and hoses were still on it. Paint code 2B bright red, base model with exceptions of 351W, FMX, sport gauges with tach, power disc brakes, power steering. Interior was base black bench seat. I installed rear sway bar, gas shocks, 15" x 8" wheels with fat radials, dual Flowmaster exhausts, and then drove it daily for the next 20 years without any major problems. Gave it to my son about 5 years ago because he is a better mechanic than I am. He was with me when I found it, age 5, and he grew up riding in it daily. I will always love these cars. Congrats on getting yours.

      The guy you are referring to is barn sour, lol that's like when a horse will run towards the barn but won't run the other direction ,
      Derek will drive any car home no matter how far the mileage. but have you ever noticed when he leaves his vehicle has to have an LS motor in it and all kinds of upgrades done. I realize those are his cars he can do whatever he wants but in my opinion he's not enjoying most of them. That's why I enjoy. Dalton and his show he is a road warrior ,a lot like me if you build a car you should be able to hop in it and go anywhere any direction as far as you want without worrying about a breakdown, And if something breaks? so what ,fix it and keep going

    @zendoargos4988 ปีที่แล้ว +16

    The TH-cam car community is amazing with the way so many different channels work together on different things. It's cool that Kevin had a car that you really wanted just sitting in his barn and was happy to pass it along to you instead of just keeping it as a long term project for his own channel.
    Enjoy.

    I’ve also found that Rustoleum is the best spray paint unless you get the expensive custom mixed stuff at a paint store if you’re tryin to color match sumthin. The absolute BEST spray paint for coating a truck frame is the Rustoleum “Professional High Performance Enamel” paint. It’s a little better than regular Rustoleum, and it’s a million times better than any of the rubber undercoating in a can. I’ve used it for years now and it’s the only thing that has survived salty winters. The undercoating in a can is the absolute worst junk I’ve tried, it might work in some situations but salty roads make that crap flake off almost immediately.

And the fact that Kevin just "happened" to have it hidden away just waiting for you, it was like it was meant to be. That turned out great, as I was watching I wanted to suggest the method I used on my 77 F-250, I used doller store oven cleaner on the spray paint, let it sit a few minutes then hit it with a pressure washer. It worked pretty good and much faster. Then what was left I used the scotch brite pad method like you did. Thankfully I only had to do the cab and front clip, lol as the bed isn't original and not the same color, "yet". Hopefully that tip helps you out on future projects. Keep that smile ear to ear sir and enjoy that new ride. 😁

      @Pole Barn Garage there's nothing quite like that feeling. I can't wait to see what you ultimately end up doing with the car. I know you said the hood paint job is temporary, so I'm sure your gears are already turning on how you'd like to see it once it's all said and done.

    Good ol 73 mandates... The vette had a poly front but still retained the chrome bumpers in the back too for that year until it got screwed up completely in 74. I love this body-style. A little partial to the 1972s of the body on frame torinos but dang this looks sharp too.

    IT'S COOL THAT YOU LET THE KID DRIVE. I STARTED DRIVING WHEN I WAS 7. 1968 TOYOTA LAND CRUISER WAS THE FIRST OUT IN THE DESERT. THEN OTHER CARS AS WELL THAT MY PARENTS HAD. 1974 ROLLED AROUND AND MY MOM BOUGHT HER FIRST 1970 BOSS 302 MUSTANG AFTER HER DIVORCE. I WAS 12 AND SHE WOULD LET ME DRIVE IT IN RURAL WADDELL AZ. SHE WOULD TELL ME TO HAMMER IT AS WELL. THE FASTEST I DROVE IT WAS 120. HER SECOND BOSS 302 WAS A STRIPPED MODEL, AS THE FIRST ONE WAS LOADED WITH THE OPTIONS. BUT THE SECOND ONE WAS PROFESSIONALS BUILT AT THE PIT STOP IN SCOTTSDALE, AZ. IT WAS A BEAST. IT WOULD COMPLETELY ANNIHILATE THE FIRST ONE WITH EASE. HER FIRST BOSS 302 SHE HAD SHE TRADED OFF TO HER FRIENDS 72 4X4 SCOUT. SHE SOLD THE SCOUT 2 MONTHS LATER FOR A 45% PROFIT AND WENT OUT AND BOUGHT THE SECOND BOSS 302. WELL HE BLEW UP THE BOSS AFTER DISCONNECTING THE REV LIMITER. BUT HIS LUKE AFB FRIEND BUILT IT BACK UP PRETTY DANG STRONG.

    Omg! Why are you letting your kid drive on public roads... you are going to kill somebody! Just kidding. The other day, I let my 10 year old drive about 10 miles on gravel roads back from ice fishing. He did so well. Going about 30 35 miles an hour, just chatting and having fun. That's how real men are made!

    I finally bit and checked out your channel after Kevin has pointed it out umpteen times. My dad had one of those cars in Saddle Bronze, his had a 351, it survived a tornado unscathed! He got rid of it in late 1990, but one quirk I remember of it, it had a manual washer pump, you had to turn on the wipers and push the wiper switch in repeatedly to pump the fluid through. So you might try pushing the wiper switch/button in repeatedly.

    My dad was selling Ford cars back in the 70s and he got to bring home demos and one stood out was a Starsky and Hutch Torino that he was delivering to a customer so he took it home with him . This was a special model because in this year you were able to order it with a standard transmission and a 460 , It was a great time to be alive ,that thing was crazy fast .

    Before we begin, thank you
    Thank you, oh thank you, thank you
    Thank you......
    Sorry had a slight Dr. Hook Flashback..... I've been waiting on SOMEONE to build one of these mid-late 70's Muscle Cars. As I've said before these are the most popular builds because they can still be bought cheap running and driving, the parts are still widely available at local and online parts stores, they don't have to pass smog testing anymore because of their age and you can tale alot of the smog stuff, plus IMO they are really good looking cars. Will a 73 Torino ever be worth what a 68 Torino will? No of course not but if your looking to get into a cheap Muscle Car or if your a young20 or 30 something and wanting a first time Muscle Car, Classic Car or Hot Rod look at the 73-78 years. ALOT of people say "They stopped making Muscle Cars in 1972" and that's absolutely not true now that these mid-late 70's cars don't have to be smogged anymore.

    • @PoleBarnGarage
      @PoleBarnGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Anyone who says these can't be muscle cars simply can't turn a wrench. Very well said

    • @TheREALOC1972
      @TheREALOC1972 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PoleBarnGarage Yep, they are becoming more and more popular, every one, literally every one of the cars in/trucks in car club that has been started since the Dempanic and Convid "outbreak" has been a 73-78 car or truck. They are all over the place here in the Triangle of Northwest Arizona/Southern Nevada/Southeast California and you can pick them up running and driving for next to nothing.

    Nice rare car fellas. Look, two things get rid of those leaves on the cowl under the wipers. That is stopping the air from coming into the passenger compartment. Many people overlook this, or don't know what that means.
    2nd " THE A/C DON'T WORK. PROLLY JUST NEEDS A RECHARGE!!" That's my favorite thing to hear. Couldn't be more wrong. There is a reason why the freon leaked out. It's supposed to be a closed system. If you find out where the holes are (dye test) you might find out it'll set you back low $ thousands. Off my rant! Thanks for saving Ford History!

    • @PoleBarnGarage
      @PoleBarnGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a high estimate on AC, I could just buy a complete vintage air setup for less than $1500. I'll throw some miracle fix and refrigerant in it and see what happens

      @@PoleBarnGarage a " hell yea" way to go. My 87 Plymouth Gran Fury had the same issue. A/C blew hot. The dye test showed leaks at every "O" ring, the condenser had leaks at every connection. I'm like, look, I'll just take another car on illegally hot days 😂
