I love wargames Atlantic! Their halflings are one of if not my favorite sets. I really want some lizard men, I have had my eye on them for a while.

Their Maori Warrior kit is freaking amazing, I'm from NZ and they have really captured the essence of historic photos I have seen. Makes me want to design a ttrpg around that time period in NZ history. Great content :)

I didn't have much interest in that set until you mentioned it, but now that I've looked at it, the brawny, bare-chested warriors with mixed weaponry has obvious appeal to a lot of different fantasy applications as well.

Just minor point: The turret-style eyes on some of the lizardmen are actually found on chameleons, not geckos. Geckos have eyes in their heads in a much more normal manner, but the eyes are often large and stick out, while chameleons have eyes on turret-like protrubrances that can move independently. Blame the fact I know this and care on keeping pet geckos and being a former petstore employee. I also want a lizardmen warband.

Thank you for the correction. I think I conflate the two because of the exaggerated appearance of Mondo Gecko from TMNT.

Man these were beautiful to look at, they have always been on my sight but I'm glad they do not disappoint.
And now I'm really tempted to purchase some stuff of their Digital files for printing myself.
Finally for recommendations, I would recommend Mantic as I think they have some wonderful sculpts that many shun simply for thinking they are the "lower quality" GW. Which is completely wrong, and frankly for half the price of who they're compared too-you get amazing deals.

I agree about mantic. I have to finish painting my halfling iron pig. And then the Basilean warships I've been working on for Armada

LMAO Dude, you are based AF as the kids say. Right on with the conquistador rant. You got my sub. Bravo. LOL

YES! I have been eyeballing these for quite some time (especially the skeletons and Dark Age Irish). Also been considering picking up a 3D printer. I have been learning to sculpt my own minis by hand, which is fun, but obviously mega time consuming for a noob like myself. Anyway, thanks for the video and for covering these.

The wargames atlantic skeletons have been uh....an interesting build for me to say the least, I've been slowly building my box since December. Its a simple build for me but wow do they test me

They are a piece of cake compared to the spiders.

Great review. Love wargames atlantic.figures. As a Horus Heresy fanatic since a time when there were NO Heresy miniatures- I’m an example of a typical wargamer wirh a Games Workshop ‘problem ‘. Hahahaha

Thank you for your attention and comments. Many of us have that sort of GW problem -- but if you know of other miniatures and aren't afraid to use them, that's not the problem I'm talking about!

Hi all! Is any rulebook to play Aztecs vs. Conquistadors? I'm interested in on that.

Black Powder, Lion/Dragon Rampant/Pikemen's Lament would work.

Seconded - WGA rules! My reviews:
    WW2 Italians:
Nice set marred by an inaccurate helmet. If you're building standard infantry or Bersaglieri, go with Warlord. Another drawback is the absence of a machine gun loader.
However, in usual WGA fashion, you get a ton of alternate heads, so they'd be great as Alpini or North African troops. Bonus points for the inclusion of an HMG team (but again no loader).
    Fantasy Goblins:
Awesome Angus McBride look to these guys, great weapon selection. My only beef here is that in the effort to integrate with the spider set, you're stuck with a couple of bowlegged poses.
These make great kitbashing material - I've mixed them with Mantic ghouls and Warlord orcs for variety, and also stuck on WGA Dark Ages Irish heads to make troglodytes. Speaking of...
    Dark Age Irish:
I wanted some peasant types for fantasy purposes, and these were exactly what I was looking for - lightly armed and armored, simply dressed. And you get dogs!
Definitely looking forward to picking up more WGA sets!

When the Italians came out, I considered getting them because the Warlord ones were in short supply. Now that I got a free sprue of Italian Blackshirts (and assembled them even) in an issue of Wargames Illustrated a few months ago, I was thinking of purchasing them. I don't really care about the inaccurate helmet, but it's good to know. Actually, you reminded me that I printed but forgot to show the Italian tankette!
Unfortunate the goblins don't have an extra set of legs to replace the bowlegged one. My thought is that they'd ride wolves or maybe even horses, as well. Maybe they can even ride the Irish dogs.
When I go to Historicon next week, I intend to buy at least one sprue from each of the Death Fields boxes with the intent to kitbash them, along with the Conquistadores and maybe even the Romans or one of the Napoleonics, to make new "Imperial Guard" type forces. I always wanted to make one with Empire militia as a base but never got the chance. I have a very particular look in mind based on pike and shotte era Swiss mercenaries, but with rockets and laser rifles.

I very much appreciate both review and the kitbashing suggestions, by the way. I'm always interested in hearing about good recipes for conversions.

@@attentionspanlabs The helmet isn't terrible, but the Warlord ones definitely look better - they've got that 'bell end' look. :)
I got a box of Warlord Italians because I wanted the loaders and now between that box and all the free sprues my friends have received in Warlord orders, I'll probably rebuild my Bersaglieri with all Warlord minis. The Alpini hats are really sweet, so that's what I'll do with my WGA boxes.
Ooh, I bet the halflings could ride the Irish dogs...

If I’m not mistaken the South American indigenous empires were tearing each other apart because of massive droughts and dwindling resources! So by the time the conquistadors rolled into South America the natives already for the most part messed each other up!

The Inca were in the midst of a civil war when Pizarro landed. Even so, both conquests were a staggering military accomplishment.

People take issue with the conquest but they seem to overlook the fact that these cultures practice human freaking sacrifice! The Spanish put an end to that so I don’t see the problem. @@attentionspanlabs

I really need to start supporting Wargames Atlantic digital offerings. I’ve joined Mantic’s Vault. And supported Wargames Atlantic for a few months.
I wish they were better at communicating what is coming. There have been months I wanted to stuff but only realized it later after the month had ended

    • @attentionspanlabs
      @attentionspanlabs  ปีที่แล้ว

Yes they are somewhat bad about announcing all specifics ahead of time, however at $10 a month I find a cheaper to just stay subscribed and see what I get. Because they release at least one set for each of their themes, I am bound to get something in interested in.
