In 3:56 to 3:59, one of the backup singers sang "You give love love, honey" instead of "You give good love, honey". Whitney heard that mistake and looked at them to signal that she was aware of it -- but the error didn't throw her off her game and focus. Singing 100% live, Whitney effortlessly took the coloratura soprano pianissimo part in that complex tail-end harmony. She was so good. A true master at the precise and delicate art of singing. And what's incredible was that she was only 20 or 21 years old in this video.

This is a masterclass in vocal control. Precise riffs and runs, impeccable belting, mesmerizing head voice, and masterful dynamics! She could go from the quietest dynamic of pianissimo to the loudest fortissimo and BACK instantly. That skill is probably THE HARDEST skill for any vocalist to master.
Being able to sing high in her vocal range in a quiet dynamic with all that flexibility is unbelievable and indicates that she had mastered it at her super young age of 22. Whitney was one of the best vocal technicians to debut in the last 50 years in contemporary music, hands down.
3:43 THAT PART❤SHE ATEEEE! Acapella wow!
One of the best singers of all times.
Unison she is a best singers of all times!!
The best!
@Tim KeirI'm not taking any vaccine. Anyway, thanks so much for the detailed information!
SHE IS THE BEST
I honestly don’t think anyone could ever reach or come close to the bar she set for singers.
*Teena Marie did. 💯*
@LadyHavana74 I am one of Teena Marie's biggest fans and this is patently false. She had a similar range but she could NEVER touch the purity of Whitney's tone!
@@smokeyfan 🤨🙄
@LadyHavana74 feel free to provide a single example from Teena Marie's extensive catalog to refute my claim. It doesn't exist but I'll still wait 🤷♀️
@@smokeyfan They obviously had different singing styles but I would take TEENA MARIE over Whitney Houston any day. I'm eternally true to my Teena Marie!!! ❤🔥
She had both beauty and talent!
That resonance f#5 on the word stay is mind blowing. One of the best f#5 in history of music.
THE BEST
Wow, the emotional notes are my favorite. One of our God's greatest gifts to humanity..... music and an angelic voice.
She knew exactly how to incorporate showmanship with her melodic deliveries and mesmerize the audience with her beauty. She had the total package.
the power, resonance, intonation, dynamics, head voice, agility, the emotion... i love this performance
I honestly dont understand how people place Whitney in the same category as Mariah and Celine she clearly is the ultimate singer / vocalist / performer
It just be mariah fans/lambs that think mariah is anywhere close to Whitney.
@@diorrboyyyyfacts, Mariah is good but they over do it.
Whitney wore the most comfortable heels back then, lined with soft nylon tricot. Miss those times!
Gives me chills hearing this song almost a cappella with her in total control riding the roller coaster of singing full throttle then sliding down with such pure toned notes not seemingly breathing . She takes a breath where it least interrupts the meaning of a song similar to how Garland sang . I love this version
This is another level of a performer. And only 22 years old at the time, it's just amazing how much control she had over her voice at such a young age, it was something so effortless... just a gift such a gift.
Thank you for sharing your amazing talent with us, love you always Whitney.
I can understand if she was 10 but sheez over 18. I know high schoolers who have this"vocal maturity". But they are black and sing at church weekly
@@ertfgghhhh Most people don't sing in church and it's uncommon for a 22 year old to sound like a grown mature woman. A lot of singers don't come into that vocal maturity until years later in their life. That's why it's so special to see people so young who can sing really well.
@@skip031890 im 45. There are alot of people that still hone their craft in church and i still see it happening.not as much go as used to but i still see it. And trust, many still go to church. Speaking from the south
❤️🥰❤️🥰❤️🥰
Perfection at a level beyond comprehension!
Did Luther Vandross sing back up for her on this performance? I swear that sounds like him on Tenor who made th3 lyric mistake you pointed out
The best. The voice. Never will there be another
Nobody can touch this woman!!!! It's Impossible!!! She's UNMATCHED!!! She was a miracle through the music and the voice

@@MarquesTheProducer What???
@@tiago2042 sorry, this comment was old 😭 i don’t know what i was talking about
@@MarquesTheProducer U mean the Whitney wannabe
An angel that I feel blessed to have ears to hear this voice. Just perfect.
She jumped to the top harmony toward the end. Not only an untouchable lead singer but a fantastic vocalist too. Rip.
Perfection! God showed up and showed OUT with Whitney. RIP❤️
Loved Johnny Carson. Always watched his show. Remember seeing Whitney singing this song. Johnny was so impressed. So was I.
A fantabulous vocalist with the bestest voice! So miss this voice in new vocals!❤️💕❤️
The audience was so astounded by her performance that it took them more than 2 seconds to realize she finished slinging and to start clapping. Extraordinary and breath taking performance!
My gawd...geesh...just effin amazing!!!!!! so elegant, her voice is sooo elegant!
I could listen to this song all day nonstop ❤.
AGREE 👍👍👍👍💖💖

Hallo my Angeldiva I watching i little again and again and again.... 💕💕💞💞💖💖🤫🤫🙏🙏🙏🙏
Im 36 but I thank God for giving me a chance to have this kind of music in my archives... For 5 years im storing this kind of music.
whitney will forever be my absolute favorite singer, her words are just spiritual to hear. despite how she led her life escaping from reality and lessons learned, it was all meant to be that way . and if i lived in the 80s/90s i wouldve been blessed to see that woman live, be in her presence . so elegant, and beyond an entertainer with so much love to give
Resonance, soulful, magnificent head voice, amazing musicality and intepretation, delicious run and melisma, golden tone, perfect diction and pitch. There's no other singer has that all of amazing combination beside this MODEL. she is Truly greatest singer ever. Even she had perfect beauty. God gave her so many gift in one human.
This is Real singing. Real artistry. Dtugs and Vices aside, that voice and style, and beauty too, is once in a lifetime. No young pop star today comes close to this or even even say Ni[ppy has flea, they wont even come close to those !!! She only needed to sing and tell the story. This is the real GRAND deal!!!
There will never be another Whitney... That vocal powerhouse that both baffles and adoringly admires. Many more lots of light wherever you are!!🙌🙏🥰
She so beautiful 😢😢😢😢😢❤❤❤
Beautiful, amazing performance. I love this song and I love her voice so much. She would’ve been 60 years old today, so I celebrate her. Happy Birthday to the greatest and to my favorite singer/voice of ALL time, Whitney Houston! ❤💜🥳🎉🎊🕊️8/9/2023
She set the bar so high, a masterclass in singing.
this is how you sing.... LIVE 😍
Her head voice was the most beautiful
Shes still amaizing. The ONLY one
The most incredible woman I’ve ever laid eyes on. I would walk through fire to have been able to see her live. I am in love with this woman’s whole aura. Absolutely magnificent despite anything. Imagine going thru what she did and still sounding like this. No one will ever ever again amaze me like this angel does. Walk with the most highest, Whit❤️ your biggest, youngest fan.
