The remarkable Whitney: An incredible talent and a world class singer! So talented and original when she began her career! She loved the Hollywood life and parties! So many celebrities allow addictions to cause their early demise/ RIP
I was 20 years old when this song came out. The first time I heard it on the radio it stopped me in mt tracks. I told my husband that whoever that girl was, she was gonna be somebody. I bawled like a baby watching her funeral. What a beautiful lady. I just wish she hadn't let the drugs take away her amazing voice and ultimately her life.

Anybody who remembers that era, the first few notes, that sound just sends you through an instant time warp. Real R&B that envelops you like a warm breeze; caresses your soul. From the instrumentation to (of course) Whitney's phenomenal vocals, this song is romance personified. Not sexual just a pure feeling.
Whitney's singing isn't talent, her singing is a gift from God. I mean there's talent then there's Whitney. I truly truly believe that she's the greatest female singer in this century. I love you Whitney. I thank you for all the childhood and teenage memories you created for me with your voice and music! I will always love you.❤❤❤ (no pun intended)

I remember the night this video hit... A Friday night. I'm in a bar with motorcycle gangs, metal heads, football players, country music fans... And when this video came on, every person in that bar suddenly stopped whatever they were doing.. Mid sentence.. Just all mesmorized by this new young singer that we would eventually know as Whitney Houston...

@@diorrboyyyy At the time I wrote this thread, 25 million was the actual amount of physical copies this album sold. i.e. CDs, Cassettes and ,45s, 12," Vinyl albums. Digital downloads are now counted as sales, so that is probably where you got your total from. The sad reality is...Whitney Houston never wrote a single verse of any of her lyrics! Her late father was stealing money from her, even on his deathbed! He was suing her for $100 Million! Her estate was not entitled to any publishing or royalties from her album sales. She made the bulk of her fortune, from touring. 😔 🤔 Her family had to monetize her name , intellectual properties and image to generate money for her estate! Officially, Whitney's first ever solo single released. Went straight to number 2 in Billboard's Hot 100. It was clearly number 1 material. Whitney's next seven released singles all went to number 1 - a record that has not been matched since. Even the Beatles or Elvis Prestley did not achieve seven consecutive number 1 hits.

She has shaped the whole filipino music industry and is powerhouse vocal in her own right. You wont see female singers with big voices in the philipines trying to imitate whitney or Mariah like they do in the Western world, they imitate Regine. Brian Mcknight sang with Regine and said that she was one of the greatest singers he had ever heard, and put her in the same league as Mariah. If your black and heard her youd probably say she has no soul, but thats becausecshes mot a soul singer. Whitney is Gospel. Mariah is R&B, Regine is filipino ballad singer
@@reneewalters2013 We are focused on America. Whitney is all of the above, Classic, and. Gospel is R&B, Soul and Pop

6am on my babies first birthday and I'm bawling my eyes out. We lost his twin and my sister. We would sing this song to our babies. Listening to it now gives a different meaning. Whitney was our favorite and I know they're up there singing and rocking my babies together.

She did not let drugs take her life.It was an illness that could not be cured..
Whitney was in a lot of pain from suffering childhood sexual abuse.
Sharon, I first heard the song in the summer of 1985 at the time of its popularity. It was on every pop/R&B station, and I remember asking myself, "Who Is this lady?!!! I was caught in spell.
Didn't she have the cutest face when she sang !!!?????

The sad reality is...Whitney Houston never wrote a single verse of any of her lyrics! Her late father was stealing money from her, even on his deathbed!
He was suing her for $100 Million!
Her estate was not entitled to any publishing or royalties from her album sales. She made the bulk of her fortune, from touring.
😔 🤔
Her family had to monetize her name , intellectual properties and image to generate money for her estate!
She never owned any publishing or master recordings!
