I really enjoyed my inside cabin on Rotterdam, slept very well. I got a great tip from an experienced cruiser: when I woke up, I would put the tv on the channel ‘bow camera’ and presto, a beautiful view of the sea or next port😊
We kept looking for you too! You were loving life in the Retreat! I can't stop laughing - which one is Torch and which one is Flashlight!? :-) Yes Coronation Day! I watched the exciting parts with the jewels and some of the music. Congrats on your new King and Queen! Happy cruising!
Hi David! I’ve been on the Koningsdam and it is a lovely ship indeed! I’ve been in an inside cabin and it is just fine! We are never in the room except for resting and there are so many great places on the ship to enjoy the views. I want to cruise often and am willing to consider the economics and opportunities to get out as much as possible! Cheers 😊
We just booked an inside cabin on the Koningsdam and I was thrilled to find your video! Thank you so much for your detailed cabin tour, I believe my husband and I will be very comfortable. I'm considering the Cabana package, seems like a very good idea. Thank you again!
Thanks so much for watching my video. I’m sure you’ll have a great time aboard the Koningsdam, she’s a beautiful ship. The Cabana was such a good option. Best wishes, David
Really impressive cabin I would definitely be happy with that cabin Very spacious and luxurious That shower is huge and the products very nice Enjoy the rest of your cruise 😊
Firstly welcome back guys, great to see you back cruising and sharing your experiences with us. Would we choose an inside cabin? Yes and we have. Indeed we have an inside booked on Iona in December. Your cabin looks very functional and comfortable. Bring on the food reviews David! 🙏👍
Great to see another vlog (thought you had given up 🙁). Couldn't be better as we have booked a 35 nighter on Koningsdam next Feb so are really looking forward to more content on the refurbishment. Like you we have had to downgrade in our case from a mini-suite to a balcony but I'm sure it will still be good. We are returning to Deck 16 Sky Princess in July and think we have your old stateroom. Also repeated our trip to the Northern Cape last month just to see the whole itinerary in winter - really awesome. Very rough seas but some magical sights and totally worth it. Hope you both enjoy the rest of your cruise 👍😃 you lucky things.
Hi there Hazel, so nice to hear from you! We are loving our time here on Koningsdam. It’s a lovely ship and I’m sure you will enjoy it. I just looked up your itinerary, wow it looks fantastic! I’m very jealous! Interesting to hear you’ve gone back to the North Cape…. I was saying to Graham, I’d love to see it all in the winter! Best wishes to you and Geoff! x
Hi guys! The inside cabin looks very nice. It has some of the same finishes as we had in our suite, which is very nice. Hope you enjoyed the cruise as much as we did. It was fun chatting with you on the snorkel trip in Maui. Lori & Russ
Oh Hi!!!! So nice to hear from you. Yes we had a great time thanks. Hawaii didn’t disappoint and it was all very relaxing on the Koningsdam. We kept looking for you…. We couldn’t remember your names, so Graham kept calling you torch and flashlight!!! Sending you both best wishes on Coronation Day!! David & Graham x PS. Thanks for all the tips on New England
Great to see you back David, we cruised on Koningsdam in 2019, our first HAL cruise and we absolutely loved the ship and service. Would love to cruise with HAL again just waiting for the right price and itinerary.
We will be taking a cruise from San Diego to Hawaii on this ship. My main question is about the ocean movement. I'm worried about getting motion sickness. Did you feel a lot of movement on the ship? The ship looks lovely. Thank you for your informative videos.
Hi Pam and thanks for watching. I didn’t feel to much movement. If you are prone to seasickness there are lots of things you can do. Choose a cabin near the middle of the ship. Take medication, use motion wrist bands and try and keep the horizon visible. I wouldn’t worry too much. Koningsdam is lovely and I would sail on her again. Best wishes, David
We were on this cruise with you, but on Deck 6 (Mozart), in a balcony stateroom. Our two reasons we won't do an inside cabin are; 1) if we ended up in isolation with an infection caught on board, being locked in a cabin with no window or sunshine or fresh air, for a week or more, would be just awful * 2) Smell - which was an issue on 6. The hallway on 6 often smelled strongly like sewage. It was not the only hallway with that problem. Bathroom smells in the cabin can be an issue on cruises if the cabin bathroom fans are underpowered (which is common). As this cruise did end up with a LOT of Covid cabins and sick CREW in locked down isolation (both cabins on either side of us were in isolation for the WHOLE TRIP ☹️), and with estimates being 150-200 cabins on just *this* cruise testing positive for Covid - which we found to be an excessive number) were in isolation worries are VALID and a real risk. Plus, as anyone on this cruise knows, EVERY public area was filled with people coughing sneezing and making *no effort* to cover their mouths. There were a *LOT* of obviously sick people who REFUSED to report themselves for testing. To add to this, we were also told a *second* infection (Norovirus like - definitely gastro) was on board and in passengers AND crew. Unfortunately, easily 30% or more of passengers *flat out refused* to wear masks. Even when blatantly coughing and sneezing, repeatedly.* There were so many loud/obnoxious/ableist speeches about the "right" of certain passengers to spread infections to others. Many of those people made loud comments/speeches about those they would deliberately infect like "Let 'em die". Many loudly ridiculed anyone wearing a mask. Lovely people 🙄💩 We witnessed precious few passengers EVER actually washing their hands or sanitizing. We witnessed MANY leaving washrooms with no hand washing. 🤮 Not *once* was there a line for the handy, quick buffet hand washing units. Infections on cruises are a huge risk/reality, now because of passengers like that. They are not only careless/lazy, they are deliberately malicious. To stay healthy you *must* assume other cruisers are a significant liability, and act accordingly. * And no, the *excuse* that repeated public coughing "could just be lung disease, not an infection" is *ridiculous. Lung disease paitients are additionally vunerable to infections and are told to use masks. Lung patients are ALSO used to using masks. Masks have been part of the lives of *genuine* vulnerable patients for DECADES. The only people whining about how "hard" masks are to wear, AND insisting on not using masks, AND Coughing in public are *not* lung patients.
Hi and thanks for watching the video. I’m sure you’ll have a great time. It’s such an adventure and I’d love to do it again one day. If you are able, make sure you go to Volcano National Park and Pearl Harbour of course. 5144 looks a good enough location, near to the lifts and elevators. Also cabins above and below. Have a great time, David

Thanks for commenting Scott. Hope you have a wonderful time

Thanks for the comments. I was surprised that many people weren’t washing their hands when visiting the Lido Marketplace.
Booking the Hawaii 22 Day inside cabin 5144 - fingers crossed....

Never will I take an inside cabin again. Did it once and it almost ruined the cruise. Much less for 18 nights! Why waste the money?
Interesting point of view for sure ✔️
