    I know this style of video is a little different from the norm. How did you like it? Did you like the first person POV? Or do you prefer the regular style? Let me know why!

      its not bad, I personally like it. However, a big part of your channel is the cinematographic shots. Up to you, either option is good. i think i prefer regular style tho

    The fuse should really be right next to the battery!
    The point of the fuse is to protect the wire catching fire and not the amp.
    If you have the fuse next to the amp and the insulation rubs off the wire and it grounds itself there, the fuse will not do anything and the wire will heat up and in the worst case catch on fire.
    Upvote this so Gingium sees this!

    Gingium if you didn't, make sure to tune the gain on the amp and adjust the high pass and low pass so you aren't having your speakers play frequencies outside of their optimal range.
    Your headache you mentioned may be from the sub playing frequencies below what you can actually hear starting at about 20hz but below 30hz can still cause that. Using the filters will keep the sub from playing too low and unburden the sub with playing the frequencies that it is not good at which results in less clarity. The Mids and tweeters not having the lower frequencies filtered out will also impact their clarity. Adjusting the gain on the sub will allow you to maintain audio quality at max volume instead of just blowing it out, the gain is not a bass boost and it is not a sub volume setting. The proper way to adjust the sub gain is with a multimeter and a tone generator, look for one of those guides.
    This video style works, I wouldn't say it is better that the other way. Might be good to use the new format in some videos and the old format with others depending on the subject.

    • @christraudt6730
      @christraudt6730 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rectro YT skar audio is a brand that’s also a part of sundown audio. until i’m told different, my assumption is that all skar audio products are well made. i like rockford fosgate door speakers if you don’t want to spend an arm and a leg on your audio setup. nothing wrong with kicker, but just not my cup of tea lol. boss audio wiring kits are undersized and over power rated. dangerous imo. amps are also over rated

    • @christraudt6730
      @christraudt6730 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rectro YT ideally you want to match the rms power of an amp to the rated rms of the sub at the Resistance you’ll be wiring it for, but some amps lie about their rms and peak output. like boss audio lol

      In 2007 I had a kicker 12" L7 powered by a Boss 1300W max (rms unknow) and I thought it worked great. One day I swapped subwoofers with my buddy, he had a JL audio 12" W7 but powered by a JL audio amp, I think it was 400w rms. My L7 sounded so much better in his car with his JL amp. The Boss amp did hold up for the 2ish years I kept it, but I wont ever recommend them.

    I put my subs right behind the seats on the shelf. Only 8 in. ones will fit, and you have to cut a couple 8in. holes in the shelf itself. Little bit of rattle, but a few extra self trappers and some caulk helped a ton

    • @RaymondHeine1232
      @RaymondHeine1232 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Janice.Longoria. For speakers I highly recommend the Kicker CS series speakers. Not the cheapest but I found they are the best bang for the buck. You can find them anywhere, they sound great, and are pretty reliable. As far as head units a decent Pioneer head unit is the way to go. Especially if you can go with a touch screen unit. You can usually get a unit for around $300-400 and get most of the bells and whistles with 13 band EQ settings. Thats super important if you want to make your stereo system to sound great. Most less expensive units including stock units only have 3-4 EQ settings. And again they are pretty reliable. I have never had one fail on me. But keep in mind not all Pioneer head units are equal. Some are loaded with features and some are pretty watered down. You'll just have to find out if you can use a single din or a double din head unit and do some research from there

    Big OOF on the Boss Audio. I guess when it comes down to it, it's all about what sounds best to you. I have a Sundown SA-8v3 with a 1 cube box in the trunk and Sundown SA65CX Coaxials, amplified by a PPI Audio Art a300.2 and it's beautiful and not all that expensive. Plenty of trunk room. Just replace the Boss amp and youll instantly have better sound. Also replace the head unit with a Pioneer DEH-80PRS.

    I built a sub box for my Miata that goes in the trunk, but dumps into the cab. And doesn’t take up much trunk space at, I set it in the right side corner of the trunk in front of the battery, took some creative thinking but beats giving your passengers leg cramp.

  • @benmitchell2642
    @benmitchell2642 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hey you may want to consider moving the fuse closer to the battery. With it that close to the amp it’s not doing much unless the power wire is protected. Also you should grounding the amp directly to the battery if possible. It will improve your power to the amp

    I just bought a miata a couple months ago and I really struggled finding a great sub with taking any space from the car. I use the car to deliver pizza so I need all the space I need. I found a perfect sub that takes up no space if you take out your spare tire. It’s a spare tire sub. You guys should check it out. It’s really worth looking into if you want a sub for your Miata. I have one that’s an 8 inch sub with a built in amp so you don’t have to worry about that. (Rockville RockGhost Hidden Powered 8" Car Subwoofer Spare Tire Sub-No Lost Space) go on Amazon and you will find it.

    Suggestion for the the audio, I'm running the Kicker Hideaway HS8 8 inch enclosed sub with internal amp. I maximized the sub efficiency by placing it in my 92 on the passenger foot well FACED down towards the floor, resonating the low frequencies through out the cabin. I placed it., where the the factory ECU was and moved my Ecu actually above the glove box. It's sounds so full and efficient, I have been told by many it's impressive for the space it occupies. Mine is under the carpet and doesn't take up anymore space than the 92 factory ECU space.

    • @gkk2001
      @gkk2001 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for that suggestion. I have measured the spaces behind the seats and feel the Sub will fit under and behind the driver seat with no room to spare. I don’t really have any other spot short of the trunk but wanted to avoid that. Oddly, there is less room behind the passenger seat.

    Just curious (I’m not hating), what about a powered sub behind the seat like a Kicker Hideaway? They seem to work great and I get great bass outta mine in an mr2

    id dyno that amp before putting it behind that sub long term, boss behind boss is fine but if the amp is below the min requirement's of that sub it will blow it from starvation. but if you like oit who cares. love the content

    you should cut your trunk out and replace it with a lighter tubular frame, and just put some sheet metal for the trunk floor. that area is a waste of space. You should also get a cage, or at least some door bars.

    There's an awesome 10" sub box for miata's that I think I bought on Amazon that fits into the left side of the trunk and fits amazing. Still have my trunk and the passenger has plenty of leg room

    • @gonshik
      @gonshik 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Ray Og type Miata Subwoofer Box into Amazon, and it’s the first 3 results. It’s $109
      Has been working fantastic for me. But I’d recommend glueing the port where the wires go through cause mine came loose and killed my sound, thought the subwoofer itself died for a while.

    • @gonshik
      @gonshik 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Ray Og sick, one thing I wanted was a good sound system. Only issue is that with my bucket seats I only have the door speakers for sound, so I’m looking into ways to mount some door sized speakers under my roll bar in the rear.

    Did you trim out the head unit? I put a double-din in my '92, and the gaps are killing me, but I'm not sure what to do about it.
    Want it to look factory if I can make it so.

    My Pioneer TS-SWX2002 8" Shallow-Mount Pre-Loaded Enclosure put into the trunk is by far a better choice in my eyes. Doesn't take up a lot of room and it is secure in the trunk (what is really secure anywhere in a car nowadays). Sounds fine due to it being a sub and you don't really place a sub for hearing, its for feeling.

    Any chance of a review of the headunit using it with MSdroid? How is the head-unit day to day with glare? Is it legible being right beside the shifter (down lower) and how is it's user interface in the longer term?

    I don’t normally comment negatively but as an car auto guy.... Boss.....Really?!? Also I would change where you have the amp fuse to as close to battery as possible, having it that far away makes the fuse not work to it’s full potential. All in all Great video just needs minor tweaking in the speaker and amp department. Sorry if I came out too negatively just had to say something.
