    I've been a police officer for 23 years for the city of Phoenix, Arizona....And I find it very inspiring to see you putting a positive light on our chosen profession, especially at a time when the light isn't always positive....We need people to show the good side of our job and the good that we still do. No matter how small the difference we make. Keep up the good work...be safe always!!!!

    Excellent presentation, I was carrying a M26 Taser back in early 2000, one of the first departments in my state. It was an excellent tool, it definitely prevented many roll arounds and using force when dealing with a combative subject. I would always recommend training, many of the other cops never carried off duty or were gun enthusiasts. The cameras are very important, they do help stop many complaints. When my department started using dash cameras I was one of the officers assigned to a marked unit. It definitely had embarrassing moments of people trying to get out of a ticket. I just remind people that they’re on camera to avoid the embarrassment. Be safe and carry a back up!

    I live in Texas and I am a fanatic of police weapons. For self defense, I carry an ASP Protector P16 concealable baton clipped inside my pocket and a small keychain size canister of Sabre Red Blue Face pepper spray (Which contains a visible blue marking dye) on my keys which are clipped on my belt loop (It doesn't do any good in your pocket). I also have 2 other batons that are 26 inch ones as collectibles, one being an ASP Sentry and one that is an ASP Friction Loc that was given to me by my brother in law who is also a cop. You would be surprised by how knowledgeable I am in that. I know more about the history and different makes and types of less lethal weapons than the officers that are carrying them do. But I support all of our law enforcement. Be careful out there and thank you for your service

    The stiff belt is used to give support to the weight of the gear. Flexible belts arent meant to hold a load outside of a pair of pants. Stiff belts also take the pressure off the low back. As for the buckle, a low profile buckle is the way to go. Get to lock in the underbelt (again for better weight support/distribution), a low profile buckle (or loop which is what i use) will make it easier to put on the duty belt. I suggest moving the buckle one belt loop to the left or right so 2 buckles arent stacked on each other.

    I once weighed myself in uniform, with all my gear; I was carrying an extra 30 pounds! I wore that gear every workday for 22 years, entirely on patrol. I didn't know I had developed a limp, until people started asking me why I was limping. After I retired, I started using a cane, then two canes, then two crutches, until I finally got both hips replaced due to bone-on-bone arthritis. And I wasn't the only one; I know of two other former colleagues who got hip replacements, while still employed! I'm not trying to scare anyone who's in or considering going into the profession; just saying it's not all "gee whiz, look at all the neat gear!" Have you considered a left handed holster for the Taser7? Some agency's doctrines call for the non/less lethal option draw with the dominant hand but that could eliminate the issue you have keying the radio.
    My ex-wife worked at a smaller agency (600-ish sworn personnel) and due to her small stature they made some accommodations for her and the few others like her. At the time the department was issuing full size 1911's and she could not complete the draw. Her torso was shorter, waist so much higher (relatively) and cinched compared to a man that the at rest position put the sidearm in her armpit. The range officer ended up issuing a drop style holster that moved the weapon "out/down" to her hip and issued a "Commander" length sidearm that made all the difference. They also modified her required load out and moved the radio to a drop leg mount on the support side. The biggest impact came from a ballistic vest sized and cut to fit HER.

    mom, are there only 2 magazines provided ?. considering the different conditions and crime rates in each region, is it possible to add it? And, if you shot the gun, do you have responsbolity like the trial?

    • @copmom911
      @copmom911  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Two additional magazines, plus one in the gun. Many officers also carry additional magazines in their bags and cars. The administrative and legal ramifications of administering use of form with a firearm can be extremely complex and complicated and always differs for the specific situation and encounter. If you do shoot your weapon, my agency as well as state have extremely detailed investigations that follow. But to answer your question, a police officer is always held accountable and responsible for any use of force including one in which they utilize their firearm.
