I got my first real restaurant job in 1978 working for a Sicilian family that moved from Brooklyn to central Virginia. There were 5 children; each one opened up their own location which they named after the family matriarch Rosa. They were the nicest, most wonderful people and they treated me like family. Your video just brought back a flood of memories, a smile, and a tear to my eye. Thanks!
Yes the immigrants from Sicily were nice and treated you like family. Imagine an America where in turn AMERICANS treated immigrants as good as immigrants treat Americans, or anyone who cross their paths. That would make the UNITED States OUTSTANDING!

I love how Gina has that slightly embarrassed, humble smile. What she may not know is how many people's lives (and cooking skills) she has influenced. She is a treasure.
I agree. It is wonderful to have such a warm, down to earth person to learn to cook with. She is the best in getting a person to love cooking. She's brought my interest back. We love Gina!
Gina reminds me of my late husband's grandmother who taught me how to cook Italian dishes. Everyone needs an Italian grandma to teach them how to cook.
When you said "my children are my life" that was my mother - how I miss her. There's nothing like a mother's love and for Italian mamas it shows in their cooking. p.s. I love how you sing while you cook; I do too. :)
Correction-there is nothing like a GOOD mothers love. That must be so precious. Some mothers are extremely cruel & violent. Glad you were lucky, but it is really important not to romanticise mothers in general because it can make it harder for children who are suffering abuse & violence from bad mothers to get heard & believed & get help, if people start out assuming all mothers are good. Please do not let vulnerable children who do not have the protection of a good mother down. All the best.
When she said “I like to keep busy.” That melted my heart! We don’t realize how bored our grandparents get with old age, they can’t do a lot of physical activity how they used to. Most are retired. Children and grandchildren off living their lives and growing up. So what do they do to keep their time occupied besides watching tv? Hearing her say that made me realize how much we need to appreciate our grandparents and take them out more! 💛😭 you’re the sweetest Gina!
I agree, Ms. Brittany. My Nonnie taught me to make homemade spaghetti sauce, manicotti, and other dishes. Mama also taught me to cook and they both taught me to sew. My Daddy learned many things as a young boy and knows how to paint, electric work, plumbing, building, and so on. What's a shame is that many don't appreciate what our parents and grandparents know. Everything they've learned and know dies with them unless they have children and grandchildren to pass that knowledge on to. I'm an RN and I've worked 25 years in nursing homes/rehab centers. The elderly have a very special place in my heart and it grieves me when they don't have family or they do and don't visit. Ms. Gina, I found your channel just today and you are amazing. I loved your singing, sharing with us about your family, and so on. You are a very special and beautiful woman. Thanks for sharing with us!
It drives my mother crazy when my dad putters around the house and yard. She complains all the time saying "Why does he have to go go go like that? At his age he should be relaxing." And my dad tells me one day. "If I stop, I'll die." Simple right? The person that said "IF YOU DON'T USE IT, YOU LOSE IT." was a friggin' very smart individual. That is my mantra from now on.
Nonna Gina , grazie ! I'm so happy I found you. I found would while looking for a ciambotta recipe. The only recipe my Mama didnt have in her book. I love you , like your my cugina. I too have familia in Toronto , Canada. We probably are familia! My Dad is from a small village in Puglia. Anyway I have made mushrooms my whole life eating and making them and we made them so different. I can wait to try yours. The ciambotta was fantastic. Now I will try your mushrooms Grazie tutti, Grazie for sharing Nonna Gina. I feel like I have my grandmother and Mom back!
I have seen her vidoes time and time over. She makes me so happy it's hard to articulate. I would not have made it though the last year so easy without her . She my antidepressant.
I want to learn to cook.... i prayed to God. This video popped up. I love everything Italian. I used to work at an Italian restaurant in Scottsdale Arizona. God bless your family
Best part about watching Grandma Gina's videos is when it starts. "Hello I'mma Ginaaaa" I just smile and get comfy and watch her do her thing. Isn't she just adorable? I sure miss my grandma and her accent! This is the best closest thing to it and it makes me so happy. Love you Gina!!! :)
Who in the world would possibly give this 150 thumbs down?? I just don’t understand what someone wouldn’t like about these amazing dishes. She sounds just like my yia yia. We always cooked together. The way she cooks sounds and reminds so much of my yiayia. God bless you Gina! Beautiful cooking!
I close my eyes and I hear my Grandma talking, God rest her soul. Grandma Rose even looks like Gina. God bless her, wonderful channel. I can't stop watching.

I hope Nonna Gina continues for a very long time, to show us all her wonderful recipes. I have made these and they are so good. Thank you Nonna Gina. Keep on teaching us.
Love that you say "my children my life" I feel the same about my children and my grandchildren. I'm missing cooking for them these days. Thank you Gina for your positive loving attitude. God bless you and your family
I love that you don't cut away or fast forward. Everythings in real time, made with love, talent and experience. I love watching your videos and hearing about how much you love your family and I love the old songs too. I think you may be my favourite TH-cam chef Mrs. Gina. Thankyou for the recipes.
I love Gina and appreciate that her daughter & SIL help give her this opportunity to share her recipes, culture, & love with us through TH-cam! I've watched her videos for quite awhile, but this is first time commenting. I love her stories, her little songs, hearing her accent, little giggles, watching her give the sign of the cross, and feeling the love she shares with every recipe. She reminds me of my own dear grandmothers long gone from this life, but who also shared their love by preparing food for family, church & community. Thank you beautiful Gina! God bless you & your family always! 💕
I have to share with you the fact that I’ve watched everyone of your shows not once but sometimes two and three times. It’s a little joke at my house because when you’re finished making something and you taste it it’s always a little bit more salt. After two weeks in the hospital and watching all your shows again I delight in adding ,lol, A little bit of salt ......you got me through a hard time Gina and there’s no way that you could know how important your shows were to me during those two weeks of surviving Covid pneumonia.
Oh Thank You Genia, So wonderful to see you again. This turned out so good. Your teaching has converted 3 stuffed mushroom die hards. We all laughed when we saw how many those 3 ate. Then to tell them they were eating your stuffed mushrooms they all took a glass of wine & said a prayer for you then saluted you for such delish mushrooms. Many, Many Blessings
I love all things Italian and have sat here all day watching her videos with a big smile on my face. Thank you for showing all the steps and explaining as you go. I'm 70 yrs old and born and raised in Kansas. I love you Gina!
No 25 minutes is "not way to long" for this video. It perfect. If you want a quick stuffed mushroom tutorial go on tic toc. This video is more than just the mushrooms, it's the culture and the old school way the Italian women made this specific dish. I enjoyed every second of it. I felt like i was in the kitchen with my own grandmother. Keep up the good work!
I love watching you Gina, you have such a quiet simple approach to cooking your dishes. I am learning so much from you, thank you darling. Love from an Australian Grand Mother.
How on earth in this life can any decent Human dislike Nona Gina, she comes from god, very few humans do, the last one was Mother Theresa;I feel so Blessed to see her,God bless you always from Australia xxxxx
she is a sweet little old Grandma and i love her, but you do her disfavor to compare her to Mother Teresa, because MT tortured little children. she had the money (a LOT of money given in donations--and furthermore, the RCC is the richest organization in the world--literally) to buy them pain medications but she made them do without because she said to the children, "suffering is good because it is like JESUS kissing you." one little boy in such agony said to her, "please tell JESUS to stop kissing me!" but when mother teresa got sick and was in pain, she made sure she went to the best hospital in the world and had plenty of pain relief. also, in her diaries after she died, they found where she said she did not even believe in GOD, which i guess explains how she could force little children to suffer, because who would do such a horrible thing or even bear to watch children suffering without helping them. you can do the research yourself to verify what i have said.
@@liwmld That's right, right Beauty. AND, the truth betold,......Mother Theresa was not Catholic. An imposter for the false church that only looks catholic and an ambassador, by default, for the coming one world religion.
I love Nana Gina I have a pretty severe spine injury I’m fighting to get treatment for and the battle plus the pain can turn one sour on the world, real fast. Odin keeps be going. But we live alone and when he’s down for the night, the walls can start to creep in. That’s where these lovely videos come in. It’s like being in the kitchen with grandma and everything is going to be okay. Wanted you to know they are likely more than simply cooking videos to many others like Odin & myself, a little family and knowledge there is still love and compassion out there. 🙏🏻💐🙇🏻♂️😊
I find it funny how she says that Toronto and New York are too far away ... heck it's just a 4 hour trip by car ... it takes less time than going from Ottawa to Toronto lol
Ahhh Gina, hello! You taught me how to make Stuffed Mushrooms! I'm so excited! I just love stuffed mushrooms but didn't know how to make them. Now I can't wait to make these. They look so delicious! God Bless you Gina. You are too sweet and kind. Thank you for making these mushrooms and telling us just how to do it. You are a good teacher. Watch and you will learn, right? I'll keep and cherish this recipe forever. I'm so glad you went to Canada to visit your sister. I know how you miss her because I have family that live far away also. So I'll watch another video of you cooking now. You're the best! Keep on cooking and singing. Love you Gina! 💜😘😊🙏🙌🌹🌹🌺🌸🌻🌻💐🍄🌷🌷💜💜💜
I just found this wonderful woman. She is cooking from scratch and i love her love for family. I lived in little italy in new york and my italian friends never stop cooking and eating . I was feed all the time. You have never seen a buffet until you have some italian friends. And absolutely delicious food. I did not want to go home and they didn't want me to go. Sheer unadulterated love. I love her. And the singing makes me cry. So genuine. Much love and peace to you.
This dear woman is a treasure. What a great gift she’s given to her posterity and to all of us. She seems to really enjoy sharing her talents and her culture. God bless.
I love to listen to Gina speak. She has a lovely Italian accent which reminds me of my dear nana who passed away two months short of her 100th birthday in 2016. She was one tough cookie. God bless her and god bless Gina. Thank you for your recipe.
You are so sweet. I am disabled and my husband has to cook. Most of the time he gets take out. We really get hungry for home cooking .saw your recipe and I told my husband we could make this. It looks so good. Thank you for sharing. 🌹
This is what is missing in our world today, we need to respect and learn from our elders...my daughter is 18 and barely talks to me anymore...my son is 21 and we talk regularly...kids need to realize that their parents, grandparents, etc. won't be around forever....our elders have so many gifts we can learn from...take note...God bless
CM - Oh how happy you've made me with this comment. I always try to tell the young ones to treasure their parents and grandparents. My dear, beautiful grandma was so precious to me. My husband didn't really get to know his grandparents before they were gone, he was just too young then. I still consider my Grandma to be beautiful, because when I look at her picture, I see her soul.
C.M. You're absolutely right. These kids will find out what's important when we're gone. Then it's too late. Our family is gone. Oh well they often to late.
I'll tell you what. They care more about their phones than their own parents. I don't want to be mean here but it's true. I think boys are less absorbed in the likes and dislikes on their tic tocs and facebook and whatever else is the trend and that's why I am way closer to my son than my daughter. They won't have time for you until, Like the other person commented, You're gone. Then, It's too late. Those friggin' phones are f'n up every one and everything. You have to try to reconnect. Ask her if she would be willing to go off grid for only ONE day and spend it with you doing something together. If she says NO! Then you better look for different avenues to remedy the situation before it is a lost cause.. I wish you and yours the best and GOOD LUCK. It's so hard to get through to the youth of today.
Don't worry...they wake up and come back into your life between the ages of 21 and 25. You'll see. She's at the age where she feels like an adult and resists you telling her what to do. Her head is all mixed up at this age. She will settle back down. I promise. Til then, love her and keep showing her how much you love her. She will be tied to you emotionally while not realizing it and this brings her back to you, the right way.
Gramma Gina! I've been making stuffed mushrooms, old world Italian style, since I was taught by my Mama, at age 9! This cooking lesson taught me how to sit and complete a labor intensive task of mincing mushrooms! The most slippery suckers on earth and so were dealt with each one, very delicately, and with precision! We fed 7+ daily, so I was very satisfied to make this crowd pleaser as our holiday h'ordeurve for every American celebrated holiday! But snuck it in on an occasional Sunday, too! Progresso Italian style bread crumbs and more olive oil than you used. I loved seeing your wonderful tips, and am going to follow Your recipe next time! Prayers for all of us and very grateful to follow your channel. Much love always, Amy
I love this Italian grandmother.I cooked her baked ziti for Christmas dinner, and was amazing. I posted a picture of it on Facebook and the majority of my friends didn't know what it was. For those who did I got the reciting youtube. I love to cook, and this was God sent. God bless you Miss. Gina.
I made your stuffed mushrooms following your recipe exactly. They were the best I've ever had. I'm making another batch today. Thank you so much dear lady for sharing your wonderful cooking with us. We're all happier and healthier because of you. Much love to you.
I'm so glad I discovered you, Grandma Gina! I can't wait to make these. You are wonderful at explaining exactly what to do step by step. It is a joy to watch you cook! Be well and enjoy your family who must love you so!
It is such an honor and a pleasure to see such a beautiful Italian lady cook ... ah ... and to share this recipe is so graciously appreciated. I will try my best to duplicate it, but with the apparent love you put into your cooking, I could never duplicate exactly. I hope you had a very Merry Christmas last year, this year and for many more to come. Your name will be on the top of my list for favorite recipes. Buon-a-Petitti, Miss Gina!
Gina, I love you. I could watch you all day everyday. I am not italian. I am married to an Italian and we go to Italy often. You are the real deal. You make me so happy. I have made many of your recipes. Keep on cooking!
Gina I could watch you all day. Such a big wonderful heart, so generous with your wealth of knowledge and understanding of food. GOD bless you Gina. Love you 😍 Every home should have a Gina and treasure her. Katherine
I'm in Heaven! I fell in love with this Beautiful Italian Grandma, in about 2 seconds. I am not Italian. I was raised with Polish and Hungarian, parents. I was adopted. I'm biologically, Irish, Scotch, English. But, I Love Italian food. (I just found her today!) This is the 2nd video I've watched today. The first was Minestrone soup. The Stuffed Mushrooms look amazing and delicious. I really want to make this. It's much easier than I thought it would be. I Love Mushrooms!! Big time!! Grandma Gina, is Adorable and Amazing. Thank you, for sharing and showing us how to make delicious food. You are an Absolute Delight. God Bless You, Always🙏💖
I love watching lady Chef doing her cooking. She is so real, authentic and genuine. She’s natural and warm and not trying to be somebody else. I will definitely try her recipe
Hello Gina!! Let me start by saying how much my husband and I enjoy your videos. We made your stuffed mushroom recipe the other day and it was AMAZING!! You are the sweetest person and also so entertaining to watch!! Please keep making these wonderful videos of your recipes. Your cooking reminds me of my Mother who was Abruzzi!! God Bless You, Gina!! And have a wonderful and blessed Christmas and New Years!!!!
She personifies all the good grandmas around the world that gave a sense of peace and protection to children. From Helsinki to Hong Kong - from San Francisco to Sorrento , let each of us try to emulate them.
So right! Your comment brought tears to my eyes, as I think of my grandmas, and the grandmas who I see in my practice without whom children would likely be dead as for whatever reason their own parents are not in the picture. And more tears when I think how lucky I am to have Mom in my life and as a grandma to my children. God bless them all !
I love to learn from older people like you, I lost my mama and dad when they were young, so I don’t have anyone to learn these things from, so although I’m a stranger to you, I am very grateful to learn from you. Grazie!
Who are the 499 people who gives this a thumbs down. How could you? This video and Gina is absolutely a breath of fresh air. Those mushrooms look delicioso!
Nonna Gina, you the most famous Nonna on TH-cam, I must say, I've watched so many of your beautiful recipes on here and I'm so grateful to have found your channel...thank you so much...Grazie Tanto per tutto che tu fai....God bless you nonna 🙏🏼❤🙏🏼
You are so precious. Love when you make the sign of the cross. Don't worry Mama, all of your recipes are excellent. I can taste them. Love your expressions and listening to you. God Bless you. Joe
You are such a beautiful person ! I will make these for my mother when I fly home to see her. She loves them! You are what America is all about ….. thank you and God Bless you and your family
Ma’am, I love your recipes, and to watch you. I think there is something about watching a skilled mother cook delicious food. Thank you for your contribution to the lives of so many.
I keep wanting to add pimento for color. But not everyone would like the flavor. Maybe "less is more." Her singing is so sweet...And all of that love goes into the food. You are getting thousands of virtual hugs from all of us. Thank You, Gina!
Grandma Gina, just got back from the grocery store. Picked up everything for stuffed bell peppers & manicottis... Mushrooms are my #1 great foods... Tomorrow, mushrooms... If I don't change my mind in the next few minutes after watching your video...lol. Pretty sure I'll be going back to the store after watching this... My husband's family are Italian's & I'm french. You should see us cooking. Most of the times, he wins. I'm a heavy handed spice person & always want to cook on a higher heat. He simmers, most dishes. I have learned seasonings & spices don't have to set your insides on fire but I still like hot...lol. I have watched his mom cook for years & never mastered anything like her's. I think she waited those seconds that I turned my back & ... Not, really. Like Grandma Gina, what a pleasure to watch to the end... Plan on cooking all day.
Gina, I am from a totally different culture ( Bengali immigrant to USA) but you still remind me of my mom and grandma. Keep singing, telling us your stories while you cook. I'll make this dish for thanksgiving.
HELLO Ms.Gina! I love watching you share all your delicious recipes with us! I love when you sing too! I can see all the love you put into your food. 10 stars from me Tennessee Fan
Thank you, Gina. I have tried making stuffed mushrooms but they never get fully cooked and tender. I never would have thought to boil them. I will try them your way. God bless you. What a sweetheart.
Her zest for life and living is so reaffirming. and positive. I wish all of us who are in her age range can be as wonderful, giving and loving. This lady is an inspiration! And I am just talking about her wonderful food.
Gina, You are an incredible woman! I am so happy for your family that you are sharing these videos via You Tube because they will have them forever. I would give anything to be able to see my grandmother cook and bake again, even if only in videos--she lived for taking care of her family just like you do. I was just becoming a young adult when she passed and I miss her terribly to this day. I was too young then to really understand that it would someday end, whether I was ready for it or not. Thank you for sharing your time and expertise with us, you can't possibly know what wonderful memories you bring back for many of us. : ' )

How could anyone ever ever give this sweetheart of a grandma a thumbs down...
The only thing I can figure out is that all the thumbs down are from Australia and they want this dear lady to know that Australia loves her as well.
they may be on a diet and can't eat what she is cooking ... and just watching them is making them hungry and so they break their diet ;)
When you said "my children are my life" that was my mother - how I miss her. There's nothing like a mother's love and for Italian mamas it shows in their cooking.

The whole world should be full of grandma Gina's.

I love your videos.
You know she's a pro when the stuffing matches the number of caps perfectly. I live in California and I can smell and taste those mushrooms from here.

How on earth in this life can any decent Human dislike Nona Gina, she comes from god, very few humans do, the last one was Mother Theresa;I feel so Blessed to see her,God bless you always from Australia xxxxx
she is a sweet little old Grandma and i love her, but you do her disfavor to compare her to Mother Teresa, because MT tortured little children. she had the money (a LOT of money given in donations--and furthermore, the RCC is the richest organization in the world--literally) to buy them pain medications but she made them do without because she said to the children, "suffering is good because it is like JESUS kissing you." one little boy in such agony said to her, "please tell JESUS to stop kissing me!"
but when mother teresa got sick and was in pain, she made sure she went to the best hospital in the world and had plenty of pain relief. also, in her diaries after she died, they found where she said she did not even believe in GOD, which i guess explains how she could force little children to suffer, because who would do such a horrible thing or even bear to watch children suffering without helping them. you can do the research yourself to verify what i have said.
I had no idea! I have to google this.
@@liwmld That's right, right Beauty. AND, the truth betold,......Mother Theresa was not Catholic. An imposter for the false church that only looks catholic and an ambassador, by default, for the coming one world religion.
Thanks to the family for sharing her with us
I bow down to your greatness. Envious of your family and extended family that gets to enjoy your cooking.
Such a grandma. She said: my children are my life! Now that's a great woman. My grandmother, Carmen was the same. Amor❤
My children are my life, what can I say? I love that! We need more Grandma Gina’s in this world ❤️
I love how she says my children are my life that's all
I love Nana Gina
I have a pretty severe spine injury I’m fighting to get treatment for and the battle plus the pain can turn one sour on the world, real fast.
🙏🏻💐🙇🏻♂️😊
You are in my prayers. God Bless.
I have never felt more honoured to be Canadian than when Gina sang that wonderful song
Absolutely love her. She is adorable 🤗
So delightful to watch! Nothing like an Italian Mom in the kitchen! Bueno petito 😋😋😋
You met her how?and you decided to put her on u tube?
@@jeanettekniebusch9532 i don't understand the question,sorry.
@@jeanettekniebusch9532 I think she means she has just found these videos on TH-cam.
This is what an expert in the kitchen looks like. Thank you Gina !!!
You are so sweet. I am disabled and my husband has to cook. Most of the time he gets take out. We really get hungry for home cooking .saw your recipe and I told my husband we could make this. It looks so good. Thank you for sharing. 🌹
I love her, whenever I miss my grandmother's I watch her, she is an amazing lady, her family is lucky.
Absolutely agree
Grandma you belong on the cooking channel- every recipe of yours comes out perfect, blows all the other cooks away
May God Bless our Gina and her family...
You bring my Grandmother back to me! Thank you for all your videos! You are wonderful and you bring me such happiness!

I'm biologically, Irish, Scotch, English. But, I Love Italian food. (I just found her today!) This is the 2nd video I've watched today. The first was Minestrone soup. We need to have a video of Gina singing all her greatest hit songs. :) Love hearing her sing!
Yes I definitely would like that .
Gina, I don’t even care for mushrooms, but your presentation makes me hungry for your cooking. Your children are blessed to share your life.
Grandma's cooking is full of love.
it's like she becomes our grandma for 20 minutes while she teaches us to cook
Yes
Everybody loves you too, Gina. Keep cooking for everybody. Thank you.
Awwww your children are your life ...that’s beautiful to hear ...very rare.
The hand that rocks the cradle, feeds the family and is the heart of the world. Mama!
Such a lucky family! Your grandma cooks everything, with so much love. Makes me smile, every time I watch her cooking videos.

You are such a beautiful person ! I will make these for my mother when I fly home to see her. She loves them! You are what America is all about ….. thank you and God Bless you and your family
What a lovely singer with a big heart! But watching her videos makes me so hungry...
You make me happy just to watch you and your great joy in cooking. Thank you for sharing. Bless you!
This is how I love to cook and I love granma☺️
Thank you, Gina. I have tried making stuffed mushrooms but they never get fully cooked and tender. I never would have thought to boil them. I will try them your way. God bless you. What a sweetheart.
Her zest for life and living is so reaffirming. and positive. I wish all of us who are in her age range can be as wonderful, giving and loving. This lady is an inspiration! And I am just talking about her wonderful food.
What a gem she is. Reminds me of my grandma Margie. Blessings to you Gina.🙏❤
