Dr. Who fans are some of the nicest and most passionate people I’ve met, and like many other fanbases, they didn’t deserve to have their franchise ruined by idiots.
That whole BS about the MALE Doctor not being able to let go of power drives me nuts!! Have they already forgotten how Doctor Donna begged, pleaded and cried for the Doctor NOT to take her power away from her...even though she knew it would kill her!
Exactly! Like what is with them and bashing on men?! The Doctor has made many sacrifices before. Did they think that he wouldn't do that because he was MALE?! God, way to ruin Donna.
Agreed! Also with the stupid timeless children if the doctor has unlimited regeneration then donna is safe from death anyway. Cuz the doctor can just heal her with regeneration energy. it's just so stupid!
It was a gratingly stupid line for sure, for so many reasons. That said I don't think your example is the best; I'm pretty sure Donna was begging to keep her memories of her time with the doctor, and her friendship with him. He was taking away so much more than just her newfound power
You two never watched the show because it’s always been progressive i mean there is a literall video titled doctor who being political for 1 hour and it has been woke since it was created but you never wachted the show so please watch the video I mentioned and then you think maybe I was wrong I guess it has been woke since it started to get a life and be quiet ok thank you
@@Batmanvideos84789 hey, i also think that DW has always been progressive. But also agree with what the guy in the video said... i feel sad watching doctor who because i miss the 'Big Brain' moments where i had to pause the episode to try and understand all the wibly wobly stuff. Since Capaldi left i never felt that way again. since i've started watching i noticed it's weird only having a white male protagonist, i was so happy hearing about jodie coming in and thought "finally not a male doctor"... but i was expecting the show to continue beeing all crazy and stories conected and i having to really use my brain to undestand an episode. i wish the writers and directors could have continued the amazing story... but now it feels like i DONT have to use my brain to understand an episode... i love the fact that we finally had a female doctor and a black doctor now, i wish we keep having all kinds of people as the Doctor, because that is what the Doctor is. but i want good stories. they don't have to have a story beeing about gender equality to let people know about gender equality. i've learn so much watching doctor who, now it feels just like a repeat of what is happening in the world, episodes have no connection and story have huge holes in it... im sad for Jodie and Ncuti, both great people and great actors, but they got to be the Doctor when the writers are lazy...
As I recall from studying *real* history, governments that sought to rewrite history to suit their needs weren't exactly the most peaceful idealistic societies.
One of my all time favourite moments in all of Doctor Who was Jo Grant's departure. She announces she's getting married and although the Doctor acts happy for her you can tell he is devasted that the woman that kept him company through his years of being trapped on earth is leaving him. As everyone pours drinks to celebrate the Doctor silently drinks his and leaves the party while no one is looking (He didn't notice that Jo saw him). Then the Doctor, an ageless alien, drives away on his own. Calling scenes like that baggage is fucking insulting
Don't hate. When all things fail, and they always do with activists, they still take comfort in having ruined it for you and making you hate. Drinking fanboy tears, remember? Laugh at their failure. Ridicule their insanity. And above all don't watch their garbage. Just watch the Disparu reviews and others instead. Constantly remind them of their failure and how they are what they claim to fight and hate. THE BAD PEOPLE FROM GERMANY! As for the show, I think I can still stomach it up to season 9 of the new series. Never saw seasons 10 and beyond and I think I will keep it that way. AFAIC Capaldi is still the Doctor, a madman in his blue box, and this just corporate hate fiction made by bitter tumblristas.
@@Rusty84CVI'm pretty sure you didn't read his comment. He's actually being pretty logical on how to approach these dumpster fires. The people ruining these shows aren't the ones watching them. They just enjoy seeing others sad and angry. So by not giving them the satisfaction, you deprive them of it. So no, he's not part of the problem. Dummies that control their emotions or think logically are. You know, dummies like you.
The Doctor being a slightly insufferable know-it-all is precisely why we loved him, among a myriad of other traits. I will personally never forget how David Tennant brought us the most compelling expression of "righteous anger" I think I'll ever see in my life. To be a lonely, wounded, god, filled with the rage of centuries pouring it out on the darkest of foes...it was just all so brilliant. RIP Dr. Who.
I personally loved how Matt Smith could almost flip into a completely different character when things get serious. Most of the time, he’s the cheeriest, silliest and most playful Doctor around and then, in a moment, something else takes control. Something cold, ancient, and furious. Doctor Who is a show where the youngest ever actor to play a character can somehow look and feel the oldest out of all of them.
@@RadiuI No, it's not. Like a walker from The Walking Dead, its putrid, rotting corpse is still staggering around as if it were alive, but there's no life left inside, only a mindless, ravenous rage seeking to destroy everyone who once loved it.
Yah... The Doctor being kind of a dick is one of his most persistent traits across all regenerations. He's very smart, very old, very knowledgeable, and he knows it. And his ego doesn't get deflated often, but when it does, it feels EARNED. It's one of the things that made Romana fun, because while The Doctor may have a lot of practical experience, he's still the Time Lord equivalent of a college drop-out, allowing Romana to outsmart him from time to time in a way that feels natural.
@@Jjosh9424 I find that really hard to believe. The accent shows that the character is partially motivated by his own enjoyment, he never needed to put on a funny accent but it was fun for him so did it anyway. It's nothing to do with racism as much as it just shows how little he thinks of humanity in general and this situation he's putting them in.
As a Whovian, I take solace in these 3 facts. There's fifty good years of Who that they can't ruin. Hartnell was the first Doctor and Capaldi was the last. Lastly their version of Dr Who will be forgotten in a decade ours is forever.
I disagree with basically everything in this vid and in the comments, but I want to understand those who currently hate it. But THIS? This I’m with you on. The one number with Neil doing the Spice Girls was random and weird and surreal, just like it should be! But the others in ‘Season’ 1? Wtf is that. The number in the Christmas special? No.
The UK viewership for the 3 David Tennant specials are LESS THAN HALF of the very first Jodie Whittaker episode (and Jodie ONLY went downhill after that). The average viewing numbers for the three Tennant specials are almost EXACTLY where Sylvester McCoy's average ratings were before the show was cancelled in 1989. None of the Tennant specials surpassed viewing figures for even the least-viewed Matt Smith episode, much less any of the prior David Tennant episodes. Disney dumped a TON of cash into this production and this was NOT what they wanted to see happen. Yes, this is a huge failure. This is a big-budget special effects show, not some seedy medical drama, and it is the 60th anniversary to boot. They were expecting in excess of 10 million viewers and couldn't maintain half that.
What else does this mean? Well, it means that merchandising isn't coming back. During the Jodie Whittaker era, almost all merchandising came to an abrupt halt. NO ONE WAS BUYING THE PRODUCT. During Eccleston through Matt Smith, merchandising was HUGE. You could get EVERYTHING, from toys, posters, mugs, t-shirts, comics, etc. At one point, Character Options was reporting sales of 30,000 sonic screwdrivers a day! Then came Capaldi, and merchandising sales slowed. During Jodie, they almost died completely. Toys that did come out sold in paltry numbers. Action figures wound up in deep discount bins and suppliers still cannot get rid of "Friends of the Thirteenth Doctor" action figure sets. Almost every US licensor of Doctor Who products stopped making new items (no more T-Shirts, mugs, standees, posters, etc). UK toy releases became very sporadic as well, most being exclusives through B&M. With numbers like these, the merchandise is NOT coming back, and if it does, it won't sell enough to merit full price for very long.
This is a bridging mini series. It's not a 60th special and to be honest here in the UK they are putting more promotion into the next era of who. As for ratings, they are up on the mess chibnall made. You also can't compare 1980s ratings with 2023 ratings. Today there is more channel choice (and I had BSB here in the UK in the 80s/90s, what we now call sky TV). And as someone who owns a copy of every who story in existence (tv, film, book, comic, audio and trust me friends took the piss out of me at school for the wall of who in my family living room, where all other walls were taken up in books) nothing is new in terms of woke.
You don't have to be a doctor of psychiatry or psychology to know that " emotional baggage " literally makes us who we are. How we handle our challenges and let downs define who we are.
I think you’ll find it’s what we identify as is what defines us. Unless you’re against my ideology and therefore I will define you as an -ist and a -phobe.
it's one thing that makes us who we are of like 5 things. emotional baggage can happen in 5 different ways, itself. I'd say you don't need to be a doctor to know that but it seems you do.
As a 42 year old near-lifelong fan, I concur. After watching the episode on Saturday night I spent most of the following day feeling intermittently angry and numb... Kind of like when a beloved pet gets run over.

as a 49 year old german, who in the 80s secretly stayed up late to see dr. who when he should have slept, yes it hurts.... (dr.who was not so popular over here, so it was shown only late night)
As a 50 year old English woman, Who’s first Dr was John Pertwee, I feel so deflated after patiently waiting a year for these episodes. My 29 year old daughter is going to give the next episode a shot, because she is hopeful that watching with her son will be their family thing as it was ours. My 23 year old son watched the first one and is now not interested. I’m very sad.
I honestly loved that they brought back David Tennant. It was fun to see him. The Bigeneration was really weird, but the 10th Doctor finally got the ending he wanted. There were a lot of things in the specials i didnt like though. The attitude they gave the doctor and telling him how he wouldnt understand because he is a "male presenting timelord". I also don't know how being non binary was important for the story. The characters gender shouldnt be important.
I agree, the gender shouldn't be important. The show was making it the whole personality of the character, instead of just one aspect of the person. So weird
@@arthurhaack618 I still remember Bi Billie, only because the showrunners wouldn't stop writing it into her lines. "Hi I'm Billie and I'm bi!" Oh! Well it's a good thing you are trapped in a cave full of Roman legionnaires who are also all gay and bi for some reason that has zero affect on the plot of the episode. Who cares? The doctor is an immortal time traveler who has evolved over the years to become the fearless and feared entity that killed the Daleks and even his own species. Part of his journey is learning how to deal with that. And yet...after Capaldi the doctor became a coward that was afraid of her own shadow while still trying to play up the girl power angle. And it just keeps getting more and more about pandering rather than good storytelling. No wonder Disney picked it up.
@@docferringer exactly. I am a part of the LGBT, but I don't tell people that when I introduce my self. Because it doesn't matter! I'm embarrassed by the shows pandering to queer people.
I suspect they kept Tennant Doctor in a form of existence, in the show, for a reason, and he will be used to reel the fans back in when 'something happens' to Gatwa Doctor, at the end of that actor's term. Their bi-generation may result in a bond that involves Tennant when it is time for Gatwa to regenerate. That's my prediction.
Russell T Davies ushered in a successful reboot of Doctor Who in 2005, partly by perfectly harnessing the nostalgia and respect of older fans, while subtlely updating the series to appeal to new viewers. His instincts in this regard have abandoned him in 2023, or maybe it's that he's had nearly 20 years of people telling him how well he handled it last time and it's blown his ego into the stratosphere to the point where he now thinks he can do no wrong. Watching Nucti Gutwa's Doctor dancing in a nightclub at the start of a new BBC trailer, wearing a singlet and kilt and nothing much else, it's clear that RTD has lost touch with who the lead character even is, and is instead writing some generic gay rom drama that happens to have a time travelling phone box in it. His disrespect of both Doctor Who's legacy in it's 60th anniversary year, and even his own legacy within that by bringing back David Tennant's Doctor only to shit all over it, has 'belled the cat' about how he will be proceeding with Doctor Who going forward. The only blessing is that its going to be so bad, that Doctor Who's days are now almost certainly numbered. And at this point, it deserves to be canceled again. It needs a rest, so someone new with an actual love of the I.P. can come along in a decade or two and revive it peoperly.
RTD has right and properly fucked the Dr. Who franchise, which may never recover. I've an idea: Feed all the Classic & NuWho (minus the latest rubbish; let fans be the judge) episodes into an A.I. programme. Let it write new episodes. Hell, it can't get any worse than Chinball's and Russel Tits Davies shitfest, could it?
@glenncoody They should do exactly this with many franchises like Dr who, Star Trek, Star Wars. Maybe they will be better than anything we got since a few years.
Matt smith, david tenant and early peter capaldi were the best of the show (not including 9th because he had a short run) sadly russell decided showing everyone as equal wasnt enough and decided to ruin good storywriting to annoy us showing a narrative every single frame and somehow ruining the sonic screwdriver which i thought was impossible as its just a screwdriver every time but different so they turned it into a magic ipod which solves every problem instantly
Whitaker's era was great. The writing was original. Problem is that people whine about original, but when they get it, then its an agenda. LOL The whole Woke argument is really just bigots looking for someone else to be responsible for their bigotry. LOL I mean, Who's creator had wanted the Doctor to transform into a woman as well as many other possibilities. There were always gay characters in the show, its just that the bigot wants them to be played and shown as being straight gays. LOL
@@mikelachey824 Whitakers era was mediocre at best. Chibnall took great pleasure in ripping apart the Canon of Doctor Who and while I'll admit Jodie got a raw deal with the rubbish writing, her Doctor is very forgettable. Over 50 years of writing was flushed down the toilet in the Timeless Children. Destroyed the legacy of William Hartnell. Killed the Doctor Donna. Retconned Davros because he was in a wheelchair. Woke took over Doctor Who and the fans just didn't deserve it.

Matt Smiths final words have been lost by RTD. Change is okay, you gotta keep moving as long as you never forget who you were. RTD has completely forgotten who the Doctor is.
"And in the years to come you might find yourself revisiting a few, but just the old favourites, ay?" - A prophecy that has come to pass and taken on an entirely new meaning. I was having a conversation with a normie friend of mine over the weekend and, without giving it any thought, told him “All my old fandoms have been compromised - there’s pretty much nothing left from my old favorites to enjoy.” I said it matter-of-factly, but after it came out of my mouth, it saddened me to confirm out loud that so many things I used to love - comics, Star Wars, Star Trek and Doctor Who - have all been destroyed by people that couldn’t care less about them.

Doctor Who, Trek, Star Wars etc. But they are not making anything new from them, that is worth seeing and nothing new that is anywhere near as good as what they were years ago. And its sad as the potential is there, they just want to use them to lecture the audience now, and not entertain. So I no longer watch any of them . I watched the first two Tennant specials and they were that bad, that preachy and that much of an F. U. to older fans like me I could not bring myself to watch the last one The Giggle. I am actually glad I missed it. And what I saw for the Christmas Trailer looks like one of the worst episodes of Doctor Who I have ever seen. A mash up of Pirates of the Caribbean and the Hobbit. With the campest Doctor ever. He is even more camp than John Inman or Kenneth Williams. I cant possibly take it seriously, its like a parody, a mockery a comic pantomime. The fact its gone from 12 million plus viewers down to 4 million in ten years....two thirds of the audience are gone and its going to get worse. I would be embarrassed if someone called to visit me on Christmas Day and I was caught watching a Doctor Who as bad as this one looks....and everyone thought Whitaker and Chibnall were bad...how is it possible to make something worse than that???? @@fantalone666 that’s true, look at the insistence of calling everyone “far right, nazis, sexist, phobic, misogynist, anti-vax, anti-science etc.etc”. They are all buzz words with no substance, you ask them to explain what they mean and you get mental/cognitive dissidence as they have no clue.
How prophetic was it that the 12th Doctor's last words were, "Doctor, I let you go." 😢 Oh well, I have a lot of the original Doctor Who on DVD or Blu-Ray, and all of the modern Who through Capaldi (not all the 12th Doctor was woke or bad) on Blu-Ray. That's how I will choose to remember the show.
For me the prophetic/4th wall breaking line was "I don't want to do this anymore" uttered by old guy companion in the Rosa Parks episode. Me either buddy...me either...
Capaldi is where the collapse began, but you're right, not all of it was bad. I liked the Clara arc, and the episode after her death is probably one of the best episodes of Dr. Who ever produced period.
Capaldi's doctor had some really bad moments but I also think it may have had the best moments as well. It was such an up and down. The Zygone war speech from Capaldi may arguably be the best moment in the whole show. Him trapped in the confession dial I personally think was one of the most simple sequences in the show but also one of the most well written and emotional when the reveal happens.
@@shadoukingu3730 Agreed on all points. "Heaven Sent" was an awesome episode with a simple premise that really paid off. Hell Bent was a good follow-up to it.
I remember how incredibly powerful Capaldi's "I WILL NOT CHANGE" was, as he fought his regeneration by pounding into the snow. Looking back on that, you could kind of use that moment as foreshadowing....
@@popot4627 It's not your headcanon, it's the official Doctor Who canon. Timelords can only regenerate 12 times, making 13 in total, meaning Capaldi WAS the last doctor, and no retconning will change what the creators of the show intended.
Yea it is sad indeed. Canonically for me, I have The Husband of River Song as my ending. Or if I’m feeling a sad ending, The Doctor Falls where the Doctor says “Pity, No stars. I thought there would be stars…” and stop it there as his final act of heroism.
Oh, the stunned silence in that theater when Tom Baker's voice boomed from off screen. A pin drop would have sounded deafening. Truly a moment in time now lost like tears in the rain. RIP Doctor Who.
@@IllisiaAdams I was speaking to the degenerate level of entertainment which reflects the culture of our civilization, which history has shown leads to well.. look it up! In any event. God help us all from THAT, which sadly I fear it's too late.
Honestly, the real problem for the show is that it seems to be playing more to an American audience, and the general dumbing down of certain things in the series. Disney? There is a great chance that it will ruin the show... I said what I said... I love the show, but weep for the Americanisation of it.
The worst part is, most of the American Audience doesn't want this either. We already watched this happen to starwars and startrek and Marvel studios. I mostly watch youtube now when I was an avid movie and tv watcher in the past. My 1st reaction to the end of the female doctor was hope it might get better. Then I started hearing quotes from interviews about the new doctor and that hope died.
We know history isn't to our liking, so by lying we can summon forth a new better society. The arrogance with a dollop of self righteousness that these people possess is extremely annoying.
I remember a time when looking at the history, even or especially the ugly stuff was held in high regards. Looking at facts, learning from mistakes. I kind of like this idea to be frank. Showing history not how it was but how you would like it is a dangerous path, because everyone has a different idea of what it "should" be. That is also an insult to the actual humans who did great things if you miss represent them. Imagine showing the "I have a dream" speech and having a white actor do it. Doesn't feel right. Similarly showing a historical figure that was white as a person of color just doesn't feel right. Facts should not be changed. Especially since I think showing it and talking in a respectful way how you could improve things has way more meaning then showing something wrong and claiming that's how it should be.
The timeless child causes so many plot wholes and writing issues it amazes me they don’t just act like it never happened and move on. It completely removes all tension from any scene where the doctor could die. Undoes the 11th doctors final episode(that being that he only has one life left and will spend it defending trenzalore) and so much more. It is the “jump the shark” moment of Dr. Who and as long as it’s canon it will forever harm the brand of Dr who
Well it WAS the Jumping the shark moment, unti bi-generation happened. Now according to RTD every past doctors regeneration became bi-generation and the old doctors didnt die as the new ones appeared, and all past canon is now set loose and undefined. Chibnall changed canon back to the first minute of the show in 1963 and damaged it beyond repair. RTD has erased canon, completely, now only head canon matters and each viewer can make up whatever they want. I dont think theres any way to come back from that.
Yep, it removes tension, and it removes the reward of the Doctor cheating his way out with bonus regenerations from the Timelords or something. The Bi-generation also removes the bittersweet goodbye of a Doctor and the surprise and time to shine for the new one.
Can't the doctor still die? Like The doctor could still be killed mid-generation and killed off. It was the over arching plot point of a whole season(6?). unless I missed something from the new series in which case I'm sorry.
Doctor Who holds a special place in my heart. It got me through a lot of hard times, and I’ll still watch the entire catalogue of old episodes, but I’ll not watch moving forward… I can’t. Even though I knew it was going to happen, I still watched and it broke my heart. I’m done.
I stood in front of a statue depicting a great hero. He was a legendary hero, greater than life, and I remember being awestruck by the greatness the statue managed to exert. But when I looked at it, I saw that the statue had been vandalized. Some cruel hands had chiseled, painted, and bent the statue until it was unrecognizable. I began to weep, and a child asked me why I was crying. I told the child it was because of the statue. Such a great and noble thing had been destroyed, and it saddened me. The child asked me why would such a thing upset me. It is but a statue after all. And I told the child that it represented such great and beautiful things, greater and more beautiful than anyone could imagine, and now no one will experience it ever again. And the child will never get the chance to glimpse it either.
The child will never understand the importance of this metaphorical statue, nor the statues of real people getting torn down in the name of progress all over the west.
Capaldi was the last doctor, and all this time we had been in denial, if they want to do something different I would be happy to watch "Clara and me in the restaurant at the end of the universe"
Notice how every doctor after Capaldi, had good memory after regenereating.... I say they are a figment of his imagination and he's really in a coma or something.
How I HONOR You! Jodie Whittaker was a poor Doctor not because she was a woman, but because she couldn't portray Doctor's character. Unfortunately, with her came the degeneration of the brand. And the rotten cherry on top of this cake made of expired cream, Surströmming and Hakarl is that they made yeast out of the Doctor. And why? Well, because yeast reproduces by partitioning. So, as the classic said: "Silence over that coffin."
The problem with calling yourself "Progressive" is every time you achieve a goal, you then have to find a new goal and proceed to once again beat the rest of us to death with it. They will insist on taking us down no end of weird backwaters, and if they have their way this "progress" will be unending.
Maybe gatekeeping wasn't about discriminating against people for things they can't control. Maybe it was about protecting the integrity of the franchise after all...

I keep wishing we ended with Capaldi's run. He have the best version of the ancient time lord following on from Matt Smith holding that same vibe hidden under a childish mask. In Capaldi's last episode I could feel how tired the time lord was, just wanting to finally stop after over a millennia of running, but "one more lifetime couldn't hurt". After that they needed to bring their A game, that episode could have been a perfect send of for the show in my eyes so they needed to make the future season perfect to earn the right to keep going on. Instead they dragged it all through the mud, burning the fans, destroying the characters and tainting my favourite send off with their filth. Losing Star Wars was painful, but nothing they have done has felt like such an assault as this.
Fans: "Well congrats yourself, Russell. You not only ruin your own legacy and respect, but also lost your well established fans and embarrassed David. All because of the agenda you think you believe in to pander to a group of people that don't care or won't watch. Was it worth it?" Russell T. Davies:....."Yes." 😁
It isn't like Davies hasn't done this in the past, its just turned it up to 11 for the New Nu Who reboot. I assume it will chill at a bit as the new series begins.
Most of the well established fans that were even still around were out when the Timeless Child happened, but if any were still hanging on, they're gone now.
Don't think Tennant has been unknowingly embarrassed, he's fully on board with this shit. I thought those 2 guys were the ones to respect the series' past the most, it's a shame what they've become. I'll still enjoy what has been done in the past but now I've lost all respect for them
Recently I've been rewatching Doctor Who, the early 2000's. All the way until season 12, is where it ends for me. I don't give a flying frog's ass for Jodie Wickeder. So I am inclined to enjoy my beloved 9-12 Doctors. Screw the modern agenda
Think about it... only 5.08 million people watched this show. We're talking about the return of the most popular modern Doctor, David Tennant, and 2/3 of his original audience didn't even show up. More than 100,000 hated it so much, they wrote angry letters to the BBC. By the third special, 400,000 couldn't be bothered to watch the regeneration episode to see the new Doctor. And Davies mentioned that MILLIONS were being poured into this new Doctor Who, "more money than he has ever had to work with." You're going to pour millions more into something, you're going to expect a BIGGER return than before... but nope, it fizzled. And it is ONLY downhill from here. There is ZERO hype right now.
In the same way Disney doesn’t fork out $250-300M on a movie just to break even, the BBC didn’t bring Catherine Tate, David Tennant and RTD back just to get 5M overnight viewers.
you seem to be forgetting that most viewers now watch via streaming services. that 5.08 million ONLY includes live tv from bb1, not including iplayer, disney plus or any other services that stream doctor who to their country.
@@KoizumiASMR The streaming doesn't matter because it's being compared to the British audience numbers that other Doctors had. For example, when Jodie was Doctor and had similar numbers, the media reported it as being low viewership. And let's note that after Jodie, because of the low viewership, the show was actually going to be canceled until RTD stepped in. Plus, Doctor Who is a beloved British institution, and I for one would have expected a bigger surge there for the return of the most popular NuWho Doctor.
@@marychocolatefairy Once again, streaming wasnt as popular back then even in jodies time people still mostly watched it live on tv and not streamed. With the disney+ deal a very large chunk of people have moved to streaming.
I'm not a Dr. Who fan personally, but as a fan of other similarly murdered franchises, you in the Dr.Who fandom have my sympathy and condolences. I've heard it argued that Dr.Who died the worst death of all the violated franchises, to which I was initially skeptical, but after what I've heard about these Specials and the look at the new season, I think agree.
I don't know if Dr. Who is the worst murdered/plundered franchise... Amazon's Wheel of Prime (Time) is a complete perversion of the original books... and "oddly" enough... it's another show run by a... person like Chibnal and Davies.
@@Nyet-Zdyes Wheel of Time is one I know almost nothing about, the book or the show, other than the show is terrible. But I thought Shad or Disperu said the author had no control over the show, he made suggestions and Amazon just ignored him. That's what I imagine must really sting the Who fans, having a celebrated former head of the show (2nd best thing to the creator) return, not to save it, but to put the final nail in the coffin, and personally join in on attacking the fans online. Brutal.
Doctor who was once a show that even a few years ago gave us magnificent commentary, or at least solid commentary, that most folks could support. I think specifically of a moment during Peter Capaldi's reign where he gives a magnificent monolog on the idea that, "War sucks, don't go to war if it can be avoided. If you use your brain, it can always be avoided." We went from that to, in the span of about two years, a badly written alternative history magic schoolbus. The villain in that episode I mentioned was the greater concept of War itself. One of Jodie Whittaker's earliest episodes, the villain was a time traveling Neo-Nazi who's entire goal was to prevent Rosa Parks from ever even getting on the bus. That same episode featured Doctor King, and he had barely 6 lines and was irrelevant to any of the actual plot. Jodie could have been awesome. She was a decent actress. She was given absolute crap to work with though.
"Emotional baggage" Really?!! That's why I love the doctor. A person that has lived for the longest time, with vastly more experience and knowledge than his adversaries and supporters, all the loss, grief and mistakes he made, he has to live with all that and keep moving forward because he understands that if he stops, evil wins. "Emotional baggage"

That is not how people work, and those who do function that way are broken people who need to fix themselves instead of "fixing" the world around them.
Yeah- what these current "identity first!" writers fail to understand is that most people don't relate to characters based on color shades or sexuality, but rather based on the characters' actions and experiences.
I started watching with Eccleston and I only watched it because my brother wanted to watch it when it started lol, but I grew to love it and I laughed and cried with each regeneration and I loved every moment the doctor was brilliant and smart and remembered something that could help save the day. The companions had great and different personalities and they helped as best they could too. When Jodie came... Even from her first episode, I never saw her get a moment. With previous gens, there was always this moment in the new doctor's first episode where you knew it was the doctor coming back but with a new face, but with Jodie, I never got that, and it never came. This has just spiraled and gone out of control. I could rant on and on but I've already done that enough. the TL;Dr of it is, Capaldi was right with his final words. "Doctor, I let you go."

I was such a big fan that I got a Doctor Who tattoo to celebrate the 50th anniversary but pretty much dipped out during the Capaldi era as well when I got tired of watching the doctor be belittled and constantly being told that his companion was a lesbian. I haven't been able to keep myself from paying attention to what happens with the show though and I couldnt help but watch the David Tennant episodes but I have no desire to watch it anymore.
Star Trek? Seriously? I guess you must have been outraged when Uhura (who wasn't a maid either) kissed Kirk, when Jadzia kissed another woman, when there was a Russian and a Japanese serving as officers on the Enterprise, when they criticised racism in Let That Be Your Last Battlefield, when... My point is that Star Trek and hell, all these others franchises, have always been against bigotery and fascism.
:sigh: I grew up watching Dr Who, mostly Pertwee and Baker. I even illustrated a fan magazine at high school (in the 80s when started going downhill). I adored the new incarnations of the Doctor. I loved Captain Jack Harkness... but they decided to make the Doctor a job position rather than a character... something that needed to be filled by every race and gender. The Doctors character was ALWAYS male and paternal, that was who he was, Humanity's Dad... no more. The Doctor was never a formidable character because he was male... he was a formidable character because he expected the same things from Humanity that a father would from a child. He didn't provide succour and comfort.... he judged and rewarded our actions... he provided information, advice and expressed disappointment when humanity succumbed to its baser instincts.
If the Doctor was *always* paternal, why did Sydney Newman consider casting a female Doctor? The 'fans' make these conditions, not the writers. It's a tv show & people have always taken it far too seriously. The fact is it started to lose its way as far back as the Tom Baker years. The objections to modern day Doctor Who are generational, 50 somethings aren't supposed to like it, it's not for us. I hated the BBC incarnation of Auf Wiedersehen Pet, I didn't watch it as a result. It's simple, if you don't like it, stop watching it. It's a tv show & nothing more, these attacks on it are just part of the depressing Right Wing mire this wretched country finds itself in. Whinging gammons who should be worried about important things & not kids tv that they ought to have grown out of decades ago.
@@dobr4481 The Doctor was always paternal... because he was always paternal. It's just a fact of his character. He is that way because he was always written that way, it's called an identity. That is his identity, always was. Consistency in ones characteristics is what we call good characterization. Characters can change, but that change has to be earned and make sense for the character. Bad writing and bad characterization are just bad. You don't have to run interference for these dullards (FOR FREE might I add) just because you agree with them about some irrelevant policy you have no actual control over anyway. If the bad writing was propping up some ridiculous right wing ideology... WE WOULD STILL BE HERE saying it's bad! But... where is all the fiction propping up right wing ideology? Hmm, I wonder where it could be... could it be that the people holding power over platforms and what gets made in the industry only allow works which tow the ideological line to be made? Do you not think a monoculture in fiction is a problem? What about plurality? Diversity? By the way... "kids tv" is more important than most laws, most politicians, and most policy. This media uniquely shapes future generations, that's why ideologues have captured it: precisely because it IS so important.

The Doctor was part of my best memories that I have with my family. I would love to talk more about this, but it would literally fill several pages. This new Doctor's characterization as described by Screen Rant is absolutely horrendous. That is NOT the Doctor; it's an ersatz-Doctor! The Doctor is supposed to be brilliant -- he is a homage to one of the greatest fictional heroes of all time, Sherlock Holmes (my *favorite* fictional character)! He is supposed to be occasionally the arrogant and insufferable know-it-all. He is one of the most powerful entities in the universe because of his vast intelligence, knowledge and wisdom. His delight is in being compassionate and willing to share with others the mysteries and wonders of time and space. And he has ALWAYS was willing to learn and react to the unknown. That is *why* he travels! So, I wish Ncuti Gatwa the best. But I do not believe if he will be a great Doctor. I would like to have them to prove this middle-age African American who has been with show since the 1980s wrong, but I do not think this going to happen. I forced myself to watch them just to make sure I saw for myself, instead of just taking the word of others. I cannot believe the drivel I am hearing these characters speak. They were ADMITTING they were intentionally making up black people in history where there weren't actually? They... admitted it?! I'd never seen that! Nor had I seen the other one about only homosexuals being allowed to portray homosexuals. How stupid is that?! Wait, did they say for sure that the Doctor is a homosexual now?! What in the BLAZES was that clip of him dancing with a skirt on! I think this is the first time watching your channel. Thanks for the clips and rundown. I refused to watch any of the specials. (As much as I adored this show.) I knew it would be bad. But, wow, it was so much worse than I thought. I loved this show. This makes me so very sad. They destroyed Star Wars. They destroyed Indian Jones. Now this.

Yes. We began to get a hint of it a few years ago when all of the awards programs began to have uneducated actors trying to school us on politics during their speeches. Slowly films had to have a woke bent to be noticed. Finally the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences put a rule in that to be eligible for an award, films would have to meet their percentage of every minority and diversity possible. No diversity to meet their demands, which had nothing to do with art, no award. Now, any film that is eligible for an award, isn't worth watching. It is propaganda rather than art. Thankfully I can find thousands of older movies and TV shows that are excellent and are artistic ... or at least entertaining when that's what my brain needs.

It was a gratingly stupid line for sure, for so many reasons. That said I don't think your example is the best; I'm pretty sure Donna was begging to keep her memories of her time with the doctor, and her friendship with him. He was taking away so much more than just her newfound power

The soviets were notorious for this and their culture suffered greatly as a result

So no, he's not part of the problem. Dummies that control their emotions or think logically are. You know, dummies like you.
The grief I feel for a show I’ve been loyal to for almost 20 years is awful. I’ve never been so angry at writers.
I'm over it ... Dr Who is a remnant of my childhood now ... time to grow up
I'm a new watcher of doctor who and I do not want to watch the Disney/ new doctor who
The Doctor being a slightly insufferable know-it-all is precisely why we loved him, among a myriad of other traits.
Doctor Who is a show where the youngest ever actor to play a character can somehow look and feel the oldest out of all of them.
its still going!
@@RadiuI No, it's not. Like a walker from The Walking Dead, its putrid, rotting corpse is still staggering around as if it were alive, but there's no life left inside, only a mindless, ravenous rage seeking to destroy everyone who once loved it.
@@zxyatiywariii8How come I've been seeing a lot of people enjoy it then?
You cant have Davros in a wheelchair but you can give the Toy maker a German accent????!!!!!
If you notice, the accent was only affected in some scenes.
No RTD gave the toymaker a German accent to tell us that putting on a accent is racist to show us that he's evil he said this in the BTS
@@Jjosh9424 I find that really hard to believe. The accent shows that the character is partially motivated by his own enjoyment, he never needed to put on a funny accent but it was fun for him so did it anyway. Disney's fault, I would say. MUSICAL IN DOCTOR WHO!??!?!💀😭 I was cringing more and more
I disagree with basically everything in this vid and in the comments, but I want to understand those who currently hate it.
Are you sure Disney didn’t want this because I’m pretty sure this is exactly what they wanted
👍👍 to the failure of this sad piece of junk.
@@DoodleThis They wanted in excess of 10 million UK viewers and a ton of subscribers to join for this... didn't happen.

So weird

Sorry but i never feel that RTD had respect to the older fans. He make Sarah Jane a love interest.
Its just a crossover of all his shows, and most of his stuff was about gay blokes and nightclub culture. he just merged Doctor who into it.
Brilliant post! I wholeheartedly agree! I hope someone who really loved the show rescues it years from now after it is inevitably canceled.

What's funny about the "ideology" vs art/entertainment...they cast a diverse black Doctor Who who represents only 3% of the British population compared to the Asian 7% and 82% white. They had already abandon the long time fan base for a female Doctor, now they usher in the era of a non-Binary Black Doctor for a production that will appeal to an even smaller demographic...all in the name of representation. Capaldi's doctor had some really bad moments but I also think it may have had the best moments as well. It was such an up and down.
If you censor history, then you ignore its lessons and will inevitably repeat past mistakes

You're going to pour millions more into something, you're going to expect a BIGGER return than before... but nope, it fizzled. And it is ONLY downhill from here. There is ZERO hype right now.
In the same way Disney doesn’t fork out $250-300M on a movie just to break even, the BBC didn’t bring Catherine Tate, David Tennant and RTD back just to get 5M overnight viewers.

In the name of the father the son and the Holy Spirit amen. Peace be with you. Ladies and Gentlemen we are gathered here today to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Who. If anybody else like to say a few words about the deceased please step forward.
i would. would everyone just stop talking about him please. just keep the good memories in your heart. and let him go to that tardis in the sky
Thank you Doctor Who for helping me survive the most abused time of my life. For giving me something to live for and helping me see I am important.
I have some words: IT AIN'T DEAD.
@@IllisiaAdams quit fooling yourself its well and truly dead ... its called the mourning process your going through 1st stage is denial once you relise this you will see the truth and accept the fact its a rotting corpse of a show
The Doctor was part of my best memories that I have with my family.
I have my all of the seasons of New Who up to the Capaldi era and a few of Classic Who episodes. I will always enjoy and cherish those episodes.
And since, the BBC and their ilk is saying this show is not for me anymore ...then fuck this noise. I'm out.
I tried to make it through the Whittaker Dr 2 x before I gave up. If you want to show that women aren't less, don't make them the stupidest version.
I am a New Who convert! I'd barely heard of it before then. (American.) But I fell in love with it just about instantly, from the first few scenes. Nine was my Doctor. I adored this show. To see what they have done to it has broken my heart. Truly. I can't even imagine how it must be for long time fans who grew up with the Classic Era. (Which I have been enjoying via Britbox.)
I refused to watch any of these specials. I am just seeing these clips through various reviews. I forced myself to watch them just to make sure I saw for myself, instead of just taking the word of others. I cannot believe the drivel I am hearing these characters speak. Nor would I have believed that RTD Davros comment if I had not heard it directly from him.
4:45 Oh, wow! That is a real quote from Moffat?!
Now this.
It's called a kilt. You know celebrating him being Scottish 🙄
@@campbell93jcThe Doctor is Scottish? Weird...I was pretty sure he was Gallifreyan.
@@frocat5163 He's been Scottish more than he's been anything, and hes not even Gallifreyan anymore :(
Yeah they admitted to inserting black people into parts of history were they weren't and pretending it's accurate. It's some weird white liberal low of thinking minorities need white handouts.
Donna: “It’s a shame you’re not a woman anymore, cos she’d have understood.”
The whole audience looking at “Rose” : well, neither is he, so….? 😂😂😂
Gotta just get a little bit of transphobia in there haven't you...
@@sem-zs3nl”say hello to captain winky” Ace Ventura
@sem-zs3nl Ah, yes, transphobia. A made up word, created by fake men and woman in an effort to insult the mentally stable in an effort to bring about compliance. A phobia, on the other, actually is a mental health issue, and that would make you an Abliest. Insensitive to those who actually suffer from phobias.
@@sem-zs3nl Well by definition... No Rose is not a woman. A woman is (according to Oxford Languages definition) of or denoting the sex that can bear offspring or produce eggs, distinguished biologically by the production of gametes (ova) that can be fertilized by male gametes.
@@sem-zs3nl lol, phobia? No one is scared of a 25 year old man masquerading as a 15 year old girl 🤣
Hollywood is dying as a whole.
And that’s a good thing
True, but it’s been like that for a while tho…
Good riddance
Its been dead, the whole thing is in zombie mode.
2:56 i can understand the dr recognizing aliens may not hold the same gendered terms but i do feel like there was stuff they threw in that felt out of place and just there to be there.
As a former star wars fan all I can say to the Whovians is...I am so sorry for your loss
Star Wars, Star Trek and Doctor Who. We have nothing left. 😭
Great time to pick up a hobby while Hollywood drowns.
Thank you from our hearts to yours
@@carolinetaylor5594And Lord of the Rings too 😭
@@romanticrose6822 yes very true.
It is sad to see identity politics be thrown into fans' faces, and none of it is clever but just cringe. RIP
The 50th anniversary special can be seen as a nice book ending to the entire franchise.
The 11th Doctor saving Gallifrey with the help of his past selves and he will now go back home through the longest path. No need for more episodes after that one.
Dr.who rest in peace 1963-2024.
Safe to shave a couple years off that number...
