Great video man I’ve watched 3-4 others and the whole time I’m thinking “Man I really feel like they are over complicating things” I’m so glad you showed step by step, this is definitely the most clear and easy install video out
yo thank you for this, I got my horn set up and no airbag light :) the I turned the wheel and now the horn doesn't work anymore... anyways, this is still the best video on the subject
Very helpful video bro!! I didn’t think I’d be able to wire my horn in or get rid of the airbag light. All the videos I seen on how to do this all did the opposite of what you did. All I did was watch this vid one time then I finally got my hub, quick release and wheel and it was easy as hell. But the hub I got was the nrg short hub but that back part you had to pry off was different for me and difficult to pry out. But overall you made this install very easy to follow and thanks!!!
matthew anderson I’m glad it helped you!! More videos coming soon!! Got roll bar, seats, harnesses and more 🤘🏼 sub to this channel for more content!! Thanx again!!
Eddie Padilla dude I got you! I also plan on doing a roll bar as well!! In the near future. Ordering headers and catback this next check! Looking forward to your videos man. Super good content so far bro
Thanx for the comment!! We are going to be coming out with a lot of content so stay tuned for the build! Turbo coming in the future!! We are gonna do tuning videos on mega squirt as well to help all the boosted Miata community👌🏼
This is the best video, even though that horn button faf at the end is not necessary, ot can be done differently and easier. Otherwise the best video on TH-cam. Never remove the clock spring, it'll make the blinkers not return automatically. Which is awful!
I honestly don’t understand why so many people skip both of these steps, this looks so easy. Even the least electrically minded people I feel can do this
Holy shit a video that clearly explains how to do this the quickest way possible?!?! Great video. I know there is other more “oem” ways to this, but opening up the wiring all the way past the clock spring. But this method is 10x easier... just that u can really go back once u cut the wire... but great video non the less
Cameron Hall Yea it all came together. I installed an aftermarket horn from Rev limiter later on though and made it way easier than using the Nardi horn.
Cameron Hall Honestly it wasn’t hard just wanted to go with a more legit set up as far as the wiring went. And I think the rev limiter horns for the Miata look way nicer and was really easy to install. The probably with the Nardi horn is that it doesn’t come with the two prongs for the power and ground wire. And The Nardi horn got scratched up really easily.
I can’t get my backing plate out without looking like I’m going to do some damage. Any ideas? I need to get it out as it seems to be the only way to get this hub to fit...
Harry Girvan hmm mine was fairly easy to remove honestly. I think it’s just glue that holds it in place. If you bought the same hub I used then I shouldn’t be that difficult. Maybe try heating it up a little with a heat gun to loosen the glue? Just be careful not to damage anything. Maybe stick something through the hole where the wire goes to try to push the backing plate off? Like I said just be careful though!
quick question, my nardi horn button fits properly inside the nardi steering wheel center hole as it should. However, when the nrg quick disconnect is attached to the steering wheel, the horn button wont fit properly inside because the NRG quick disconnect is slightly smaller in circumference. Did you have to modify the size of the hole on the nrg quick disconnect ? (make circumference slightly larger?) thank you
spit fire newer Miatas yea need the resistor. Mine is a 1993 didn’t need it. Some do some don’t. But to answer your question you could just solder a resistor to take the airbag light off. Some companies make a plug and play thing as well.
Jack of all trades King of NONE ! If you have 90-93 Miata no. Na8 and up you need to add a resistor. Mine is a 1993 so I didn’t have too. But it’s not hard to wire in a resistor. The resistor is there to trick the ecu in thinking the airbag is still there.
STM-Productions i believe you need a 3 Ohm resistor. Worst case scenario garage star makes a harness you plug in and already has the resistors needed. Since my Miata is the early ones it’s a 93 I just shorted it.
Instead of cutting your factory Airbag harness, you should put a jumper across the terminal, or purchase a connector and do the short after the connector. (Graceful delete) but who wants to roll without an airbag anyway?
Patrick Barreras as far as steering wheel install yes, but the airbag light I believe you need to run resistors in the circuit to trick the ecu into thinking the airbag is still there. I’m not sure which resistors tho.
Connor Van Nostrand If you don’t plan on using the horn I think you can leave it off not sure. That’s used to help ground the horn if you plan on using it
Planning to get a Nardi *350mm deep dish* with black spokes the perforated leather. It is, as you said, personal preference, but I'm wondering if now a few months later you are happy with the 330 flat profile, or if you regret those sizes. Also am planning the more expensive Daikei hub, which I bet you came across. Trying to get it direct from Japan a bit cheaper. Are you happy with the NRG? The Nardi is going to set me back around 293. on feabay. Wish I could find it cheaper. Also I'm going to witch out the Nardi horn button to a black blank, and then sell the Nardi one (I hope). I hate the OEM Miata airbag wheel, and am looking forward to this Nardi, but I'm a bit freaked out by the process of removing the airbag still, despite you making it look easy. Did you do the cutting the seatbelt mod? goo.gl/twun9T Thanks for your video.
Yowzoe Thanx for the support! Honestly I love this wheel. Very happy with it and the size is perfect in my opinion just because it's a faster response being smaller. Haven't had any issues with nrg I've been using their quick release set ups in my previous cars. As far as the seatbelt mod I didn't do it just because I'm gonna be running bucket seats and harnesses so I'm gonna have that. And as far as doing the work, just disconnect the battery and let it chill for a couple min, that will assure you that the airbag won't deploy. Hope that helps lmk if you need any other help!
This would’ve worked great if it wasn’t for my own stupidity. I thought I didn’t need the quick release so I only got the short hub. Unfortunately the spindle coming from the steering shaft is too long and the horn on my NRG wheel is being grounded from touching it so my horn is constantly going off. And to make everything worse when I took the wheel off to get the horn button out it got put on wrong so I’m currently turning my wheel to the left to go straight.🙃
Somewhere In Texas that's weird it should've done it. 1990-1993 Miatas don't need to have resistors in line with the wires to make the airbag go away. You can just wire them together the way I did and it should make the airbag light go away. Just make sure all the wires are connected correctly and the right wires were connected together. That's really weird tho. It's been working for everyone so far.
Not sure they were some I had laying around tbh. But I got them at oreillys. They were 22-18 I think. As long as the wires hold it should be good. Just crimp them tight and tug on the wire to make sure they stay.
THIS IS THE ONLY VIDEO ON TH-cam THAT IS CLEAR AND UNDERSTANDABLE, sincerely, thank you.
Agreed
I watched many how tos before putting my momo on and you explained the wiring the best, man! Thank you thank you
boywithcamera7 glad you enjoyed the video!! More how to comings soon!!
Great video man I’ve watched 3-4 others and the whole time I’m thinking “Man I really feel like they are over complicating things” I’m so glad you showed step by step, this is definitely the most clear and easy install video out
Just installed my new NRG wheel and your video was the best and straightforward. Thanks again.
I dont got my miata yet but i already know how to because of your great explanation. Simple, effective and clear
Just finished this setup tonight on my 96m edition, everything works great! Thank you so much for this video!!
Nice! thanks for watching :)
BrandyBoy did you remove the gold part like in the vid? I have an nrg quick release and hub and a 96 miata
It worked with just the crimp?
I’m going to buy a Miata just to follow this build, love this so much, you guys should do VLOGS!!
Love all the detail and thoroughness
Most helpful quick release install video on here. Thank you
Thank you so much for this video bro!! I got it all installed, no airbag light, and the horn works perfect!! Best video on TH-cam for install
Good job bro! I've watched a shit load of videos and still couldn't figure it out..you were clear and understandable. .thx
Really useful. Thanks. Fitting a Nardi wheel today and came across this problem. I'll put a link to your channel in my next video!
Thanks for including everything, clear and concise, appreciate it! Luckily I have an NRG horn button so I won't have to mess with the horn
Glad the video helped! We will be uploading more DIYs and mods soon!
yo thank you for this, I got my horn set up and no airbag light :)

Extremely clear instructions thank you very much👌
Excellent instructions simple and to the point.☝🏽💯
Best explaination, going to use this to go off to install my nrg set on my 94 MX-6 V6, no videos around for that car, closest thing is the NA MX-5
Same as the Probe. Most 90's Mazda share the same components. Infact I have a 1984 Mazda FB steering wheel on my 95 probe ^^
This is the best video, even though that horn button faf at the end is not necessary, ot can be done differently and easier. Otherwise the best video on TH-cam. Never remove the clock spring, it'll make the blinkers not return automatically. Which is awful!
Awesome Miata bro! You should do a walk around of your miata, that would be nice.
Thanks alot! We plan to film a walk around on it soon!
I honestly don’t understand why so many people skip both of these steps, this looks so easy. Even the least electrically minded people I feel can do this
Grounding the wire behind the spring worked for me too!
wonderful install, will be really easy to restore !
10:00 it's this spring that's stopping me from putting the horn back on. Help
Thank you! Very helpful!!!
Excellent, bruh. Thanks!

Tanks man now i know why my horn did not work
ohhhh man I want a Nardi wheel. very helpful! should start doing install vids on my channel too...
Checkpoint thanx glad you liked the video!!
Question: so you just attach both the airbag wires together and the airbag light goes away?
Why is there 20 unlikes. It’s a good video
will the airbag trick work for a 1997 miata or do I have to add a resistor?
Honestly where was this video when I was installing a nardi x nrg setup on my FRS
did the horn button and hardware for the steering wheel come with it ?
Cameron Hall Yea it all came together. I installed an aftermarket horn from Rev limiter later on though and made it way easier than using the Nardi horn.
That One Six was it hard to install that horn button what made you switch horn buttons ?
Cameron Hall Honestly it wasn’t hard just wanted to go with a more legit set up as far as the wiring went. And I think the rev limiter horns for the Miata look way nicer and was really easy to install. The probably with the Nardi horn is that it doesn’t come with the two prongs for the power and ground wire. And The Nardi horn got scratched up really easily.
great video bro
I know this vid hella old but could you list the electrical tools needed to complete the wiring? Got kinda lost
Just butt connectors, wire strippers and crimpers.
took off the aftermarket wheel my miata came with and theres only one purple wire. No red/grey/green. SMH
How deep is the dish? 1inch or 3inch??
Will this work on a 2000 nb1 miata
I don't suppose you still have good links on where to grab these parts, more specifically the hub and quick release? Thanks!
U. S. Performance lab on eBay is probably the best place to get nrg things from
What kind of shift knob is that? I want one for mine!
Can I get a link to every part ??
How did you get your backing plate out of your boss kit? I need to do this to allow room for wiring the same as you.
Harry Girvan just use a flat head screwdriver and pry it slowly without damaging the actual boss and comes right off!👌🏼
I can’t get my backing plate out without looking like I’m going to do some damage. Any ideas? I need to get it out as it seems to be the only way to get this hub to fit...
Harry Girvan hmm mine was fairly easy to remove honestly. I think it’s just glue that holds it in place. If you bought the same hub I used then I shouldn’t be that difficult. You don't have to use a 3 ohm resistor for the air bag light delete?
XeX Grant I didn’t use one. I think early Miatas don’t need one
@@thatonesix3120 Sounds good, thank you for the quick reply and good vid :)
Wait so do your turn signals still automatically turn off after you make a turn?
Nick Berte yes because the clock spring is still intact
That One Six awesome! Great video man!
i love my golf but i would like to get a miata just aside you know
AircooledNation you won’t regret it.
I got a mk7 gti and a miata..gti is my daily lol
What site did you order the short hub from?
matthew anderson I got it from a local race shop here in LA
Did you get that black wire with your hub or is it to keep the horn working with the quick release?
1low NA6 the wire came with the hub. Exactly it’s meant to keep your horn working with the quick release as long as you wire it correctly
quick question, my nardi horn button fits properly inside the nardi steering wheel center hole as it should. However, when the nrg quick disconnect is attached to the steering wheel, the horn button wont fit properly inside because the NRG quick disconnect is slightly smaller in circumference. Did you have to modify the size of the hole on the nrg quick disconnect ? (make circumference slightly larger?)
thank you
I know this is from so long ago but if anyone sees how do I put the actual button in the wheel
Is the hub supposed to not be fastened or screwed to the car? If I really wanted to I can just pull it and it’ll come off. First time sorry
Cisco Miranda the hub is splined to the steering shaft and then tightened with the center nut. It’s not coming off unless you don’t tighten it
That One Six yea my dumb ass forgot the 21mm bolt lol
Are you able to turn the wheel all the way?
Mr Me Yes, no issues
Couldn't you just solder a resistor between the Red and Grey airbag cables?
spit fire newer Miatas yea need the resistor. Mine is a 1993 didn’t need it. Some do some don’t. But to answer your question you could just solder a resistor to take the airbag light off. Some companies make a plug and play thing as well.
@@thatonesix3120 mines a 94 miata so I might need a resistor then. Also installing a Nardi steering wheel

Eddie Padilla thanks man , and it's a 3 ohm resister in case any one is wondering
'DID YOU JUST ASSUME MY GENDER?' - NRG Quick Release Female Connector
Is it ok to have the backing plate off?
Connor Van Nostrand If you don’t plan on using the horn I think you can leave it off not sure. That’s used to help ground the horn if you plan on using it
Did it how you said and airbag light in wtf. Horn works though 😁
What shift extender is that???
mXxxxXm24 eBay random one i found bro haha
That One Six Really? How do you like it? And what size? Looks like the perfect height.
Planning to get a Nardi *350mm deep dish* with black spokes the perforated leather. It is, as you said, personal preference, but I'm wondering if now a few months later you are happy with the 330 flat profile, or if you regret those sizes.

I don’t know why nobody else and why the short hub isn’t already designed to keep the clock spring and just use that oem wire. It’s easier and better
best how to steering wheel vid... all these other dudes hacking tere shit...no horn and shit

Scottys I was able to get everything at a good time but normal price is around that
helpful video, insufferable music
Almost good video but the STUPID music we can all past it should be educational not entertaining.
the music is super unnecessary
