    Excellent Erin...thank you. I'm a rookie trying to combine 3 different files into a book I wrote in libre. Was having so much trouble trying to figure this out. Exported all three to pdf, looks like a simple process. I'm downloading the acrobat program now. If I can add page numbers when combined I'll be all set. Great video. If I need any professional editing I'll hit you up on your website for a quote.
    Mucho appreciated!!!

    Hi Erin - We'll be trying this method next week as our one customer doesn't like having to open our compressed folder of our invoices in PDF format then having to open each invoice separately. We found a free PDF combiner online but it limits the user to just 20 docs. We typically send this customer 50-60 invoices each month plus an Excel doc and a Word doc as billing documentation. Thanks for the video. Wish us luck!

      Thank you so much for watching! I have an upcoming tutorial showing how to insert pages into a specific location in an existing PDF. Here are the basic steps: (1) Open the Page Thumbnails pane in the existing PDF. (2) Right-click the page where you want to insert the new pages. (3) Select "Insert Pages" followed by "From File" (4) Select the file and then select Open (5) Select "Before" or "After" in the Location menu in the Insert Pages dialog box and then select OK. Best of luck!

Because this feature worked correctly for you a year ago, you may want to contact Adobe support to report the issue in case there is a known glitch. I'm sorry I can't be of more assistance.

    Hi! If I have two documents which are two different versions of the same document, one outdated and one up to date and use the "Combine" option would it merge them? I mean, would it become a new document with only the missing updates or will it combine both of them with all the repeated information?

    • @erinwrightwriting
      @erinwrightwriting  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is a great question! The Combine tool combines files "as is," so you will have repeated information if you combine two versions of the same document. However, you can use the Compare Files tool (Tools > Compare Files) to compare the two files and then choose what you want to keep. Thank you for watching!

    Thank you Erin. The Adobe feature you demonstrated lets you combine documents placing them right next to each other in the new file. Is there a way in Acrobat to combine files and merge them together when you do? I have two documents that I need to merge together like this. I need to have the first PDF files pages to be the odd pages once merged and the second PDF file to be all of the even pages. I know you can combine the two together and then manually rearrange the pages but the two files I'd like to combine and merge are 2000 pages each. It would take a long time to do that. :)

    • @erinwrightwriting
      @erinwrightwriting  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is a very interesting question! I'm not currently aware of a way to merge two files and have them be automatically arranged by even or odd pages. However, I will certainly look into it and create a tutorial or post to my Community tab if I find a solution. I wish you all the best with your PDF project!

    • @erinwrightwriting
      @erinwrightwriting  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching my tutorial. If you use the Combine function shown here, the email would be converted to a PDF. However, if you want to join files without converting them to PDFs, you can create a PDF Portfolio, instead. I have another tutorial showing that process: th-cam.com/video/Ol56uq3rkhY/w-d-xo.html. Erin, I have combined multiple PDF's and created bookmarks that take the reader to the specific PDF that I have referenced. My question is, how can the person receiving the PDF open the tabs in a separate window so they don't have to keep going back to the main bookmark, if that makes any sense?

    • @erinwrightwriting
      @erinwrightwriting  ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question! Tab behavior is determined by the reader's software, rather than the PDF itself. I have another tutorial about how to open links in separate tabs, which you may find helpful: th-cam.com/video/0l-FrYkeRKs/w-d-xo.html.

    Is there a way to create a contents page for the combined file?

    • @erinwrightwriting

      That is a great question! I am not aware of a way to automatically create a table of contents page for combined files with Acrobat. If I find a solution, I will be sure to create a tutorial documenting the process. I wish you all the best with your PDF project!

    How do you combine multiple pdf pages into one continuous, long scrolling document, without page seperations?

    • @erinwrightwriting
      @erinwrightwriting  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      As far as I know, Acrobat doesn't provide an option to create one continuous document. However, you can go to the View tab > Page Display > and then uncheck Show Gaps Between Pages. Best of luck!

      Hello, thank you for watching! The easiest way to have your Excel file appear on one PDF page is to first make sure the Excel file is the same size and orientation as your PDF page, then make the conversion.

    • @erinwrightwriting

      Hi, Clare! The easiest way to add a file after the fact is to use the Insert Page tool or Organize Pages tool. I have another tutorial called "How to Insert Files into Existing PDFs in Adobe Acrobat," which shows how to do both: th-cam.com/video/3OejZBQXxiY/w-d-xo.html. Hopefully you will find it helpful!

    Hi there, I am also working in Acrobat Pro DC however, it will only let me combine files if all files are already pdf files. When trying to combine Word files or Word and pdf files into a binder, it doesn't work. Anyone else having this problem? Or have a work around? Thanks.

    • @erinwrightwriting
      @erinwrightwriting  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching my video! By chance, are you trying to add a folder containing Word files instead of individual files? For some reason, Acrobat will only allow Word and other non-PDF files to be attached individually rather than in a folder. Best of luck!

    Hi! If I want to combine 60% of the pages from one PDF with another PDF, is that possible? Or must I combine the entire PDF, and then delete the unwanted pages?

    • @erinwrightwriting
      @erinwrightwriting  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for watching! Rather than deleting the pages after combining the PDFs, it may be easier to first make a copy of that longer PDF, delete the unwanted 40% using the Organize Pages tool, and then combine that smaller copy with the other PDF.

    Is there any way out of this?
    Maybe how to convert to Microsoft word pdf, if only it will not loose it’s qualities

    • @erinwrightwriting
      @erinwrightwriting  ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a great question! If your employer has an up-to-date version of Microsoft Word, they can open the PDF directly from Word as they would a regular .doc. Word will identify the PDF and automatically make the conversion. Usually (although not always), quality is maintained.

    • @erinwrightwriting

      Thank you for watching my tutorial. Unfortunately, many factors affect how individual pages are displayed in a combined PDF, so I can't offer anything specific to your situation. However, you might want to try removing the gap completely by going to View > Page Display > uncheck Show Gaps Between Pages. Also, here is an article from Adobe Help about adjusting page views: helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/adjusting-pdf-views.html. Best of luck!

      That is a great question! I am not aware of a specific size limit. However, I have copyedited very large PDFs and have experienced quite a bit of lag, so it may be an issue of trial and error. One option is to use the Reduce File Size feature in the File menu. I wish you all the best!

    Erin....Excellent video! Thank you. Hey, I went down pretty far in the comments and I didn't see that anyone asked how to create a table of contents. Is this a possibility or should I create it in Word first? My only problem with that is that I'm combing Word docs with existing PDFs to make a Handbook. Please advise.

    • @erinwrightwriting
      @erinwrightwriting  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for watching my video! Unfortunately, Acrobat doesn't have a table of contents tool like Word. However, you can manually create a table of contents using Acrobat's internal link tool. Please see my other tutorial at th-cam.com/video/4Gvrcm8QUcY/w-d-xo.html for a walkthrough of that tool. If your readers will access the handbook through Acrobat or Reader, you may also want to consider bookmarks as an alternative to a traditional table of contents. My bookmarks tutorial can be found here: th-cam.com/video/OkmZxW2Bdws/w-d-xo.html. Best of luck!

    This is very helpful, but when I send the completed combined file, you can only read one page at at time, instead of scrolling through the whole document. To the reader I send it to, it appears as though I only sent the cover page, not the additional pages.

    • @erinwrightwriting
      @erinwrightwriting  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching my video. I've never encountered the problem your reader is experiencing, so I'm afraid I don't have any suggestions. However, if all the pages do appear on your reader's Page Thumbnail pane, but they're not able to scroll, it definitely sounds like it could be a problem with the viewing/scrolling settings on their end. I encourage you to contact Adobe if the problem persists. Best of luck!
