you guys should have a community support system where you can leave encouraging messages on workouts, and motivate fellow tonal owners to use it more. maybe a class workout mode where you can do the same workout in tandem with a friend who also owns a tonal. community base or some sort of competitive aspect would definitely help sales and membership signage.
I've narrowed my selection down to three gyms. Tonal is at the top of the list. I have two questions though. Question # 1. The quick disconnects interlocking mechanisms look like they are made of plastic (or a nylon plastic composite). Is that true? That is disconcerting to me. I don't want plastic to snap with tension on the line (and as plastic ages, it typically grows brittle). Question #2. What material are the lines made of? My question is, again, about durability. Lines that rub against each other (and the body) tend to wear and that concerns me too. Rope/nylon rope material frays, metal strands can wear, bend, and break. It appears that Tonal has a pretty good warranty but at the end of the day, I don't want my equipment needing repairs that might affect its future usefulness. I've heard horror stories about "unqualified commissioning and service technicians" in the home fitness space (not specifically Tonal but you know what I'm talking about). Thank you for the video and I look forward to reading your response. =)
Don’t quote me because I can only tell you what I was told. I just purchased a tonal and when I spoke with them they said T connections are made of high-grade solid aluminum. As for the cables, I watched a video the other day on this. The gentleman said he spoke with Tonal and they said it is a high-grade cable that will not fray or tear and is as top of the line as a cable can get, and can easily handle 10 times the weight that it is. Again, I’m only telling you what I watched. my opinion is this, I’ve been using a cable machine for the last three years. No name brand I bought on Amazon. I’ve had no issues so far. And somewhat off-topic, I have a boat that weighs 4000 pounds and relies on four quarter inch cables to lift it out of the water. That’s 1000 pounds for each cable. No issues with that in six years. I was actually more concerned about the arms as if you watch closely they are always slightly moving when lifting. My concern would be the arm locking mechanism wearing out overtime because of this. And I’m sure after three years of use things will definitely be looser than they were brand new. But I suppose that happens with anything. Just before my warranty is up I will definitely be going over this machine with a microscope. And I try not to convince myself of issues that simply aren’t happening. Hope this helps.
Hi I just got my tonal. I want to start free lifting, but I don’t see any buttons for it on the screen. Instead, I’ve already signed up but it’s asking me to purchase the membership. I don’t want the membership. How can I get to access my weights?
Hi @fargobill! That is a great question! We recently launched a new weight mode feature called Smart Flex which combines the best elements of Chains and Eccentric, and maximizes every rep to optimally challenge you throughout the range of motion. Smart Flex intelligently matches your strength by continuously adding or subtracting weight.
It's wonderful if you pay a subscription. I raved about it before I realized what it was without the subscription (tried using my son's none subscription tonal). I no longer recommend it. It's too expensive to be almost useless without the subscription. Use your money for less expensive type of space-saving equipment.
Hi Omar! Thanks for reaching out. The Tonal subscription is required for the first year, and is activated upon installation. We know you'll love the guided workouts, tracking, unlimited household accounts, advanced weight features, personalized weight suggestions and more. Want to learn more? Just let us know!
It says you can use Apple Music but didn’t work for me. I’ve only had it for a week so doesn’t mean much. They have music stations you can choose from. 90’s hip hop is my jam.
Hi @Antler Jan, In order for Tonal to function, it requires a WiFi signal strong enough to stream audio and video on smartphones and laptops. To learn more on requirements for Tonal installation, check out this article here: knowledge.tonal.com/s/article/Installation-Requirements

I just bought my tonal gym. I am tired of being harassed at the gym for not wearing a face diaper because I can't breathe. They said it could take 10-12 weeks for delivery. By chance, do they sometimes come sooner?
Mine took 10. My husband ordered a guitar amp that is taking 16 weeks. Stuff is just taking a long time these days. But everyone agrees it's worth the wait.
Hi there! Thanks so much for reaching out. We don't have a timeline for international expansion right now, but we want to share Tonal with the world. Please sign up for our newsletter at tonal.com for updates as we expand.
I used to say the same. I have a full gym rig by rogue. That system is great but for some reason lacks motivation, and does not adjust weights and does not know how good or bad I’m doing unless I have to judge myself on top of it. This thing is set it and forget it. And I cannot wait to get back on it every day.
That's your opinion (price), but what difference does it make? Your comment is personal and has NOTHING to do with this machine or the topic of this video. I personally wouldn't pay $20,000 for a handbag but that has nothing to do with the quality of the handbag; I simply cannot afford or justify that expensive. I did purchase a Tonal and I love it. I can justify this expensive because it is an investment in myself and I'm worth it (again, that's my personal opinion that has nothing to do with this topic).

Bad quality product, and even worse customer support. Hardware breaks down too often and their tech support is very slow. I waited for 2 weeks since one arm broke down, and still no response on when they can schedule a date to get it fixed!
I totally get the resistance can be different than free weights and Eccentric etc, def cool. However, to say that "200lbs" is enough for Strength training, esp if it's Squat or Dead. No way is that enough! And that price and a monthly fee! This is only for the "Influencer" that's promoting it. Go buy some bands, Dumbells and make a sled out of an old tire, if you think you need this. Your welcome!

Presumably if you don't pay the membership for the classes, you can still use the equipment for everything else. That's how these things usually work.

Generally a good intro but too much salesmanship rather than instruction and guidelines. Background music was loud and annoying.
