    • @KillerBill1953
      @KillerBill1953 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@timotheatae Did you watch the film of walruses running over a cliff from polar bears because of global warming?
      It turned out that they were probably fleeing from the camera crew. It also turned out that the shots of polar bears were filmed on a different island miles away. The two were spliced together to push the Anthropogenic Climate Change narrative.
      That's just one incident of the lies being pushed and you obviously believe. During the interview he admitted that there was an agenda but he was paid just to read the lines someone else had written.
      Super accurate instruments: evidence please.
      Check the NASA website. The mean temperature has possibly gone up by, wait for it, 1.7ºF since 1880. This is too small an increase for a normal scientist to take note of as it's within the bounds of faulty measuring. (Sabine Hossenfelder - Lost In Math).
      I was told, nearly 30 years ago, that the place I currently live in, and bought, would be under water from the polar ice melting, 10 years ago. The River Thames is just as far from my front door now as it was then. The Australian Navy is on record stating that there has been no rise in sea level since one of their naval bases was built, and they keep very careful records.
      I am used to people with no understanding, or knowledge, attacking me but not presenting any evidence.
      Have a good day. 11 years left, then I won't have to put up with twerps like you.

    A much much better choice for Linux users right now (mid 2020) is any of the companies that sell a Tongfang Ryzen chassis as opposed to the Clevo one. From what I undestand
    Main advantage is that it comes with a whooping 4600H or 4800H processor that's able to run in both low wattage and high performance mode with 6-8 cores depending on the model, is entirely linux optimized and best of all comes with insane 91wh battery.
    These are known as Tongfang PF5NU1G and there are several companies selling them already (MRSP of about 700USD) and they are absolutely mind blowing in comparison.
    As someone that's run Linux on laptops for work for nearly a decade, this is a huge jump in performance/use and would replace most thinkpads even.

    I love System76. From what I heard, they disabled the Intel IME in the processors they use, which is really nice, since IME is a massive privacy/security concern.
    Pop’s edition of Gnome desktop is the only one I HAVENT had issues with... there’s always tons of bugs in default Gnome, especially trying to use a non-US keyboard layout.
    This is why I always prefer Plasma :p

      minitos1 It’s a bit of work to move away from Gnome, cause you have to change some configs and such. But pretty much any Linux distribution will have ISOs for other desktops or none. Linux is really great!

      I still don't get it why GNOME people thought it was a good idea to design a touch-first interface for the use on non-touch devices. GNOME would be great for a tablet but I'm yet to see a tablet to which it would be easy to install Linux with GNOME. So my favourite is KDE.

    I’d really like someone like him benchmark systems for applications like deep learning etc. I know it’ll be a limited audience but there are people who are looking for portable AI development machines.

    • @RexGalilae
      @RexGalilae 3 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      Doing AI/DL work on a portable device is a pretty bad idea, all things considered.
      Most professional DL/AI work is done in clusters and laptops aren't thermally cut out for just intense tasks. At least if you're planning to do anything beyond tutorials lol
      Best is to buy a cheap laptop and train AI/DL models on the cloud. GCloud offers dedicated tensor professors for such jobs

    • @kanaadpathak
      @kanaadpathak 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @rex Yes, it’s a bad idea to train large models on a laptop. However a lot of pre processing can be done on a sufficiently powerful machine and then you can carry out small scale tests immediately. There’s obviously some benefit to having offline processing capability. Not everybody lives in an area of high bandwidth net connectivity.

      Why would you need benchmarks for light pre-processing and testing tasks?
      Also, I'm not sure what part of the world you live in but how do you do AI/DL work professionally without either a cluster or a cloud subscription?
      There's no way around avoiding laptops for real life DL tasks and if you live in an area with insufficient bandwidth to carry out tasks on the cloud, I doubt you'll be able to get this laptop shipped to you without being extorted at least.
      Trust me, I'm a Consultant and guiding clients on decisions like these is my job lol
