  • What Porsche 911 would you rather have? The Porsche 992 OR 991.2 AND £30,000 in the BANK?!
    Just like my GTR Vs Vantage Head2Head • Head 2 Head - Mercedes...
    I put the Porsche 911 991.2 against its newest 911 rival, the Porsche 992. To see which one of these turbocharged rockets is truly the better car, all things considered!
    Both these cars are currently for sale.

    While the 992 looks amazing, it just lacks a certain feeling the older 911's inspire. The older ones are more like mechanical watches, beautifully crafted with a ton of soul. The new one is starting to feel like an apple watch.

    • @stigpalm1922

      Thinking this, the 997 should be produced again as more 'mechanical' er analogue. In addition, smaller than 992 which must become the upper limit in size for the future. Maybe, why the size of the 718 is so attractive plus mid-engine car.

    I do have both and 991.2 s and 992 4S . 991.2 turbo sounds is obviously much louder than 992 & I do enjoy to hear it. 991.2 interiors parts looks more solid in term of high quality. 992 4S run a bit faster & the gas pedal is also a bit lighter than pressing the 991.2. Both cars are good and it depends on personal reference . For myself I like 991.2 more .

  • @andreassilver6281

    991.2 is the nicest looking 911 of the modern era by a distance. 991's look and feel much more classic 911 than the 992.
    992's look bulky and all the same as they have made the rears identical on all carrera models.
    The 992 interior is probably a step up but tbh i'm not a massive fan of massive touch screens etc...
    The sports exhausts also don't look good, not sure why they decided to put Audi style exhaust tips on 911's...

    To me, the only improvement offered by the 992 is the slightly wider fenders.
    Negatives…
    Additional particle filter exhaust
    Larger, Heavier
    Door Handle Gimmickery
    And although I will understand anyone who likes the wrap-across tail lights of the 992, I prefer the 991.2 rear end.
    Same for the hood and front end design change. The 991.2’s smoother, rounded features are more appropriate for the 911 and better suit me.
    My Two Cents 😎

    • @levanoni

  • @Outremont60
    @Outremont60 3 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    This was my dilemma. I had a 997 for 10 years and was looking to upgrade. I ended up with a highly optioned 2019 991.2 4 GTS which was very similar in cost to a 2020 992 4S with fewer options. The GTS is slightly more powerful than the current 992 4S. The driving characteristic of the 991.2 4 GTS is indistinguishable in everyday traffic when I compared them. I have not compared them on the track, but I suspect the GTS with rear axle steering and active dampeners would outperform a similarly priced 992 4S. Looks are subjective, but I prefer the 4 GTS trim over the current 992 offerings. Both cars are awesome, and I would certainly have been happy with either- perhaps more biased towards the 992 if that had been my choice.

    Hi, Marc. EXCELLENT comparison! I took delivery of my 992 C4S on Oct 15, and have put 5,500 miles on it. Kansas weather...rain, snow, ice. I have winter tires and it performs flawlessly. To be honest, the car feels larger than I anticipated and there’s a certain amount of guessing on how close I am to corners when turning, the height of the window sill (getting toll tickets you have to have a long, long reach), etc. But I am 100% satisfied. Having said that, I am sure if I opted for a 991.2 C4S/GTS I would be equally certain that I made the right decision. Your point on. Price difference is poignant and definitely worthy of serious consideration. Ciao!, my friend. And safe travels. :-)

    Great video Mark!
    I own a 991.2 C4, decided to hold the extra money in my pocket. Brought it to the tuner to tickle it a bit and it has 480 HP now.
    It's fast, drives awesome and I'm very happy with it. But..... I like the looks of the 992. The rear of the car and the interior. I might buy one in the future if the bitcoin price goes up again. 😉

    Had time to reflect: How about a BMW M8 Competition Coupe ...did someone mention Bentley GT? ... Plus another for consideration the [amazing!] Audi RS Q3 Sportback...again pitch at the silly, stupid Lambo Urus... and save yourself a packet! Did house deposit anyone?
    Finally, i know i keep 'banging on', have a week in a VW Up! GTi in the real world of Bournemouth and the south coast with a weekend treat of 911 or similar ilk waiting in wings. Or perhaps a Fiesta ST? Back to the real world theme, if you can get your hands on a M8 Competition perhaps pitch against its sibling, the excellent new BMW M135i or the bonkers crazy, M145i, rear wheel drive. Over to you, Marc!

    However, I think your fuel consumption figure comparison is not "like for like"
    The 992 must have been measured from an updated test cycle to the 991. There is no way the 992 does 9 mpg less than the 991.2.

    On the fence with this one but I’d say buy a 2-3 years old 991.2 for $75k drive it for 3 years and sell it for $55k. Heavy depreciation is in the first 3 years of ownership and after that it trickles. It ends up costing you about $600/month vs. a 992 with $10k down and ~$1,200/month at 5k miles a year for 3 years.

      They are both great cars. And Marc is spot on with the price difference compared to the difference in the cars. Having said that, I happily opted for the 992 C4S and don’t regret it. But again, if I bought. A 991.2 GTS or C4S, I’d be certain that I made the right decision there. If you have the money, either car you choose will have been the perfect choice.

    Hi Marc , V8 Vantage or 911?

    • @DrivewithMarc
      @DrivewithMarc  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Good question Matt, it’s a tough call. The vantage sounds better, the Porsche’s interior is better and is more spacious/comfortable for longer journeys. Performance wise they feel very similar. The main difference between the two in ‘real world’ ownership is depreciation with the vantage suffering a much harder drop than the Porsche which tend to hold their money quite well in comparison. This is something I would be extra cautious with at the moment since Aston Martin are only a couple of months away from going into administration unless they get a serious amount of financial backing...who knows what knock on effect this would have on the price of the cars!

    • @andrewsingh
      @andrewsingh 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Drive with Marc interesting comment on the 992 values, my 8 month old 992 has lost 30k already according to local Porsche centres.

    • @DrivewithMarc
      @DrivewithMarc  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@andrewsingh Yes, as with all new cars they loose a lot of money in their first year and then begin to level out. Unfortunately for Porsche with the 992 they did it to themselves by making so many cars availble so early in its life, normally they limit the number of early production cars which keeps the prices high. For some reason the with 992 they had lots and lots of them ready to go which meant a lot of people who brought them to quickly flip on to make a quick quid were stuck with supply outstripping demand for the first time in the 911 market...this meant a lot of those people then slashed the prices to get out of them very quickly before the bubble completely burst...this then had a knock-on effect on the people looking to actually genuinely use them and sell them 6 months later as the used value had already been destroyed by the 'flippers' - It is a very unfortunate situation and one not at all in character for 911s.

    • @andrewsingh
      @andrewsingh 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Drive with Marc true, when I bought mine many dealers had them 5-10k over list which was optimistic to say the least! Hopefully it levels out soon as I’m getting itchy for a change after 9 months!

    I have got a highly specified 991.2 c2s - it’s a wonderful car but has needed 10k +😮 repairs under warranty. Turbo’s , water pump, air con all failed and fixed by Porsche. Has the 992 fixed some of the weak points on the 991 . I would not buy a 991.2 without OPC warranty other wise you will spend all the savings from buying a 992 😮

    No way those times are right!! Zero to 60 on the 991 with sport crono were better than that let alone the 991.2.
    991S with PDK and SC gets you there in 3.7
    991.2 in 3.5 given the turbo
    the 992S has been clocked at 3.2/3.1 and better.
    The 4S is 3 flat on so many reviews that its not a fluke anymore.
