If this is anyone's first time hearing Mike Patton, I suggest you look him up and take in the fact that he was in Faith No More, Mr. Bungle , Tomahawk, Hemophiliac, Fantomas, Dillinger Escape Plan, Peeping Tom, Mono Cane, the soundtrack for Crank 2: High Voltage and featured on many albums like Nathaniel Merriweather Presents: Lovage and so many others.
And then there’s the work he’s done on video games like the darkness, portal 2, left 4 dead. I think my friends hate me when I go on and on about how insanely talented he is lol
Ya sound like me Trying to let people know the greatness of Mike Patton but where do you start. I think ya always start with Faith No More... Kinda like David Lynch ya can't start them with Inland Empire or even Mulholland Dr. Cause they'll freak out and never come back... So I start them with Blue Velvet... Beginning, middle, end. Same as start 'em with F.N.M. then maybe Tomahawk into Peeping Tom.. you can't throw 'em right into Mr. Bungle cause there never coming back. That's why Mike Patton is my favorite singer and David Lynch is my favorite filmaker. And they have more in common than most people will think. It's all the same reason you have to stare at a car crash. In hopes of seeing a decapitated human head. Exactly..
Impressive list.. also soundtrack to 1922 movie (Steven King novel), Bacteria Cult, Corpse Flower, Prime numbers album. Like this dude does everything everybody else is too scared to attempt.
Interesting advantage this version has over the one that appears on Disco Volante - the instrumentation is in stereo. The old Secret Song (as well as Ma Meeshka Mow Skwoz) on every version of DV I've owned was in mono. Always wondered if that was a mistake, hearing this suggests maybe it was.
I feel like _Mind Emissions_ should've been pressed after _The Bends_ . Whereas, this should've been pressed normally, after _Carry Stress in the Jaw_ .
@@Jynweythek. They wouldn’t sound right in that position… these bonus tracks should have been intended for release on a separate 7-inch. They could have issued Volante in its original version (with the hidden track in double groove, with the proper take), and placed the bonus tracks on a 7-inch single instead. They could even have included the tracks from Secret that came with the original version and the 7-inch.
@@Terrabait A box set containing these versions was recently released. The version I am referring to is the first edition of the album on vinyl, where this song appeared as a hidden song. To listen to it you had to place the needle in the specific groove (since that part had a double groove).
Who is the guy who sings the old man voice parts btw, never knew who did that. Feels weird to hear different lines spoken from that guy on this song lol. Would kill for more unreleased bungle stuff
More like a ten second secret intro and a fifteen second outro. So THIS IS NOT A SECRET SONG. Slightly edited version for the final mix. And that's why "They kicked YOU out of the band"... And that's why "God damnit I'm pissed off"...!
On the vinyl boxset they put this Alternate mix, wich mostly lefts out the OldManDunn voice. (and its closer to how they played it live) at the end of California.
There are a ton of differences between this and the Disco Volante version. It's not just that there's less old man voice. The whole mix is completely different.
Never heard this band before thanks for sharing🎉
OH MY GOD YOU NEED TO LISTEN TO THEIR FIRST THREE ALBUMS, SECOND FITS THIS VIBE MORE, THIRD IS MORE DIGESTIBLE AND FIRST IS A MASTERPIECEOF WEIRDNESS

Completely agree
Was thinking that was the compromise of the double groove. But now I notice via digital. Thanks
“Quiet, don’t tell anybody…Don’t let ‘em know…It’s a secret.” 🤫
Uh, I bought Disco Volante back in the day and this song is absolutely on the cd. I didn’t have to search for it either….
Thank you for the upload! Been hoping somebody would!
This isn't unreleased. It's the end part of Carry Stress in the Jaw, from Disco Volanté (1995)
I love Mr bungle so much
Yo conocia esta canción como Spy
Disco Volante is the best record ever by any band ever. End of discussion.
You are correct sir
Fuckin A.
Yes
How could they put this track from Volante at the end of California? This should have been released on a separate 7" along with Mind Emissions.

@9--9 neat way to think of it.
@@9--9wait, is there an original volante version of secret song on this box set?

this is a way better mix and tempo than the dv version
This rules
Listening to this is like being on acid.
Mr. Bugleberry
These fellahs are great. Their shows bring on memories of The Residents, Genesis, The Mothers, and even Shrapnel playing Underdog in the Rat.
I prefer the vocals on the DV original but otherwise this version arguably sounds better.

This isn't previously unreleased, and it's not from the California recording sessions, it's literally on Disco Volante. Cheers for posting it I guess.
This version of the song isn’t on DV.

Why aren't these comments on the top? Bungle is dicking us with this lazy garbage of a release
It would've been cooler without the vocal parts.
the oldman voice you mean?
Patton vocal arrangments are superb
They are the best part
