Thanks for taking the time to make videos even on these smaller jobs!
I love how you show all of the job, even the eff ups. Makes me feel normal. Good job Mama!
Wow, how timely to have seen this video. a drip, drip on almost identical faucet. I removed the aerator and a bunch of water came out. Cleaned the aerator out and no more drip. We had already discussed getting repair parts or replacing the faucet. Now all is good! Keep up the great videos that are so helpful.
Best repair faucet video. I watched one and just replaced the stem meanwhile the problem came back. Bought that Delta repair kit replaced that seat problem solved. Thank you!!!!!
I love Delta too! I made a special seats and springs tool by taking a standard paper clip, extending out an end and bending it into a small hook with a needle-nose plyer. Its amazing, the things you can fashion from a paper clip or a coat hanger.
I've always put a small amount of valve stem grease on the top of the seat, O-ring and the bottom of the cartridge. It reduces the friction of the opening and closing of the valves and extends the life of the seats and cartridges.
I do that too, FG. I HAVE to do it, due to a well and hard water! Otherwise i would have to replace them every 3 months. I use it in my shower cartridge, as well as the seal in my toilet fill valve that uses the old float device.
I'm always having to clean the lime buildup off my valves. The water is hard around here, so the grease definitely helps.
Nice easy $$ and a nice clean kitchen. Enjoy these warm days!
Just so people know, the Delta repair kits come with 2 sets of different sized springs, Make sure to match them up with what you have.
Also, always a good idea to block the drain(s) to keep small parts from escaping.
I've done a lot of handyman work for friends and family over many years, lots of fixture repairs.
When someone is looking at replacing a faucet, I tell them to pick out a DELTA faucet they like. If they have a different brand in mind, I say DELTA!!!
Good morning Steve and “Miss Molly “ another leaker fixed well done 👍
I would like to request a video of driving around with miss Molly, that dog is priceless.
All the faucets in my house have a lifetime guarantee and I keep calling the manufacturer to get free replacement parts.
Can you tell me what brand faucet you carry that has a lifetime warranty parts thank you
@@johnfleming68 I believe delta does have life time warranty on parts
I’ve called Delta many times for replacement parts. I always feel guilty, my faucets are 14+ years old, so I offer to pay for the parts and they never want any money. The trick is to know the model number for the faucet. It usually comes with the install instructions but if you buy a resale house or even a new one, most contract plumbers never leave that information behind, I think they’re supposed to attach a tag to the supply line giving that info. If you don’t have the model number, they will help you identify the model. Very nice people. At least when you get them from Delta you know you’re getting genuine parts.
But like my HD special...faucets bath are hollow... they rot thru...and crush when removing cap.. one hit wounders...
@@johnfleming68 Moen a brand that has life time warranty on parts as long as your the original owner to them.! ✌️
Great video; I haven't read all the comments, but it is imperative on the spring and seal kit that you orient the washer seal properly. The flange must go down not up or you won't be able to turn the water off with the handles. The water will just stay on after you turn on the valve if the seal is not oriented properly.. I also coat the seal and O rings on the cartridge with a little vaseline.
My Delta cartridges looked nothing like the ones in the video and I had the very same problem you mentioned --- the handles wouldn't turn off the water. Not sure exactly why, because I didn't use a new spring and seal kit. There were two loose pieces of plastic below the cartridge (again, nothing like what was shown in this video) that I tried to position as they were before. I'm thinking that might have been the problem.
A plumber who goes with the flow. 😉
you caught that huh? lol
@@lostintime8651 so did I
@@force311999 I was just about to post the same thing but AG beat me to it
He's no drip.
Molly enjoys every minute of the ride!
Steve is one of the good ones! Whatever is cheaper for the customer, he will either repair it or install a new one.👍
Good Morning Steven. Every time I work on faucets it seems like I put at least one thing in backwards first try. Thanks for video!
Thank you very much. This was exactly what I needed to do to fix my kitchen sink leak.
Thank you for your professionalism. It fixed my faucet.
Morning Steve. Tech tip , use a 4 in 1 Screwdriver without the bit , use the barrel to fully seat the washer and spring.
Cool tip, I will try that. As Steve said, it helps a lot if there's no water in the faucet body, else the rubber seal tends to float. I usually use paper towel to soak the water up first
We always use a #2 pencil with an eraser head to seat the springs, just remember that the SMALL end of the spring seats FACE UP into the rubber seat towards you.
Molly is a treat.
this video saved my butt, thank you so much. Sigh...now to replace the mangled shutoff valve under the sink. ugh.
Hey Steve, if you had to replace a faucet, is Delta what you would recommend?
It always is a good idea to use the genuine Delta seats and springs as well as the genuine Delta Half Moon Cartridges on these Delta faucet jobs. The off brand stuff never seems to fit quite right every time we've tried so we ALWAYS use the Delta parts.
I've been looking for Gerber nylon washers for kitchen/bath and tub valves. Get leaks from under the handle and it's usually the nylon washers.
She's a leaker mama. Need a guy like you in my area. I fix what I can, learned a lot watching your vids. But if it requires special tools I'm calling in the pro's. Don't know anyone in my area who will even attempt to fix anything. It it's leaking they 're going to want to replace it. Even if a cheapo little washer will fix it. Don't know any independent guys they all work for the big outfits. It's like it can't be fixed we will have to replace it. Damn shame their aren't a lot of good old honest guys around anymore. If you were in my area you would be my go to guy.
Pete, I can relate. I think that Obama Care contributed to that situation. The techs tell me that they had to go to the big outfits because the pay for the health insurance that they can`t afford. Then the big outfits cover the huge costs by working the tech`s asses off, and socking it to the customer.
Similarly, our independent farmers are being squeezed-out of business by the Con-Agra`s because they can`t afford the high-tech equipment in order to compete. The farms get sold and big real-estate throws-up condo`s. That trend leads to water table problems, congestion, crime and all the rest of it.
@@yz250a (Ouch) But you are correct, of course.
Sorry, I am new to this. I just noticed the trend in my area and asked the techs that I have hired, what was going on with them. They told me they would rather be independent plumbers and HVAC`s and have more control over their hours. (Like Steve has).
We need more Steve Lav`s. Like myself, many others have commented that they wish he, or someone like him, was in their area. Independents are a dying breed.
He seems to feature just as many furnaces as "PLUMBING". But, I hope that I have stayed on-topic this time.
the shims under the handle allow a standard cartridge to work with "1/4 turn trim"
see more used on 3 handle tub valves with levers
Good morning Steve. Delta faucets are so easy to work on, they're great. It's the Moen faucets I find to be a pain in the ass.
Handyman really pick up tricks of the trade from your vids really valuable resource keep good work up!
Joe shortage of trades in USA 6-8 million ...providing great service for the diy homeowners etc...I am licensed state pool/spa comtractor wish more ppl get into construction trades most csn't be outsource
morning Steve! Could you do a coffee chat sometime soon about the increased costs and availability issues you're seeing at your supply houses? We can't find propane or MAP cylinders anywhere here for the handheld torches, water heater availability is really shaky, and Ferguson now saying PVC fittings are going to be hit or miss for the rest of the year. Building materials are going insane in price.
Nice job Steve
Handle orientation before
screwing tight? Interesting that
the washers are where the seat
is located and not on the stem.
I love wall mounted faucets...easy to clean... water drips down 1 wipe done.
Had the same thing happen when I replaced the same parts on my unit. If you do one pay attention when taking apart.
Easy peasy, nice job per usual
On my cold water side water is dripping under the sink when the handle is turned on.
It drips directly from under the mounting nut. Any idea why?
While I have it apart, I always change the O-rings that go around the stems too!
I have replaced like 20 of the delta . I think they say to replace the cartridge too
Yep, I approach each job on a case-by-case basis
Delta is good stuff unless you get the parts from Home Cheapo or Lowe's..
Once you put that generic crap in them they don't last as long...
Awesome to see you use Actual Delta parts!
Home Depot has the Delta brand parts.. along with the cheap Danco brand
Nice job Steve, it was a leaker mama! 👍👍
Nice simple fix !
The ones that gave me grief were the generic two valves units, the spout would leak at the base, warranting replacement of the whole spot. You couldn't do anything else with that! I had two tubs that were two valves that drove me nuts with leakers, trying to blast past calcified threads to get those valves off... I won, but it took me longer than expected.
Good job
I love to rebuild faucets my favorite thing to do.! Lol 😂 ✌️
Nice job and video Steven
I have a Delta two handle kitchen faucet (about 15 years old) and the cartridges look nothing like that.
Mine doesn't shut off the stream fast enough when closing the valves; sort of slowly peters out. I think it's the cheap, plastic aerator which sells for at least $16.
go with the flow nice pun
Another job done right!!!
I remember doing that on a faucet, and after I put it together some debris from the old rubber seals must have traveled up to the aerator and clogged it.
Maybe don't block the demonstration video with your hands?
Delta after removing each part...funny guy!!!
Great video🏆👍
I was always schooled to AVOID cheap faucets and go for the reliable and REPAIRABLE brands like Delta...
Bravo :)
I think you need to have a sleep study done. It sounds like your breathing problems could be causing you to have severe snoring issues, and not getting the correct amount of air past your nasal canals. I only say this because I use a CPAP every nite. good luck with all things - without my CPAP I will die sooner. Or at anytime actually,.
I have a 50 pack of those flippin seats & springs , I have to change them out like every 1-2 years in a couple sinks. New cartridges every 5 years when it leaks out of the handle. Unlike Steve, I lube up everything nice and easy. LOL !
Is miss molly still playing catch me if you can, in the mornings Steve haha ??
Good job stive
Whoa..! He's retired?! I thought it was a young guy judging by his voice... How come he's retired already... He definitely sounds younger - like in his 20s or 30s... Wow...
Fix the old one, or get a new one that takes twice as long to fill the coffee pot in the morning. (thank you new laws for low flow faucets)
If you're not from Boston, I'll eat my hat. (The accent gives it away: paahht = part; waahtah = water). Oh, and that's an OK thing.
Skeleton key guy 👍
The generic washers don't fit.
any plumbers like steve here in southern ct area
Steve, is that your iPhone ringtone? If so, what is the name of the ringtone?
Didn’t you have a skeleton key assortment you used on another video?
Delta is my first choice. They can last forever.
The old sink that has 2 faucets one hot one cold. Never figure that one out.
it is still code in the uk
I like the Delta as well, not much to it
The first mistake is buying a Delta faucet.
but im not a plumber
Steve, Leave that damn PHONE in the truck.. Usually you don't answer it anyway. It is distracting, just like helicopter customers. I leave mine in the truck. They will leave a voicemail, or my answering service sends me a text. I deal with this stuff before I go to my next job, thus I don't have to get on the phone to return calls when I come home to the Command Center tired & hungry. Also i will call next customer to make sure they are home . They don't answer, I don.t go.. Keep on being your GOOD - Self !!
@@joep4143 are you ok man?
@@joep4143 your comment did not appear to fit the thread in Russian, which was about roads and their state of repair (or rather, disrepair) between the two countries.
