I watched this video today because I had a leaky Delta bathroom faucet with one handle. I say *had* because with this how-to, I was able to change out the seats and springs just like Bill did. THANKS BILL!
Thank you SO MUCH! After several fails and a couple of frustrating hours, I figured out to put the small end of the spring in the hole first, then the seal over the large end, just the way the old one was. That was the only way I could get the seals to seat so it didn’t leak.
Thank you soooo much! I was able to fix my mom’s old Delta 150 series kitchen faucet. Thanks to your advice, I was able to get all the parts from Delta free (except the steel ball assembly, which they either forgot or it’s not a covered part). Anyway, after I purchased the ball assembly separately, I cleaned the faucet and replaced the parts exactly as in your video. Everything is perfect now. I appreciate your no-nonsense video, with its clear concise instructions. No endless self-aggrandizing intro headers with annoying music….perfect!
Thank you so much - once I patiently applied WD40 and a compressed air shot to the allen screw( a few applications over over a few days), everything was a cinch thanks to your instructions. One thing, as you and others have noted be sure and use original Delta Parts. A top local store's brand of repair parts just did not fit right and were a waste of time. The Delta Parts were a smooth operation and the faucet is just as new.

Thanks ! i just changed my delta washers on my kitchen faucet using your video which was the best among the ones I've seen on TH-cam. The hardest parts was removing the chrome cap after the handle was off because my model did not have slots for a wrench so i had to use a vice grip but it wouldn't budge at first but then someone explained to me i probably overtightened the wise grip and sure enough i just remove the cap with my fingers 🙂The other part more difficult was when everything was in place before putting the chrome cap back on. I had to use a screw driver to push everything in place that also left the part in its groove. It took 2 tries but I got it ! Turn the water back on and all is great and no more dripping !!! It was driving me nuts LOL
Thank you Bill! I'm about to replace a 40 year old Moen kitchen faucet with a brand new Delta Classic. (Or rather, a plumber is about to replace the faucet, since there are no hot/cold water shut off valves, which need to be installed, and that's way beyond my ability to deal with.) But looking ahead I wanted to be able to know how to fix any leaks that will inevitably occur down the road. I saw replacement kits on Amazon but after watching this video I'll just contact Delta since the faucet comes with a lifetime warranty. But people said there are no instructions that come with these kits, so I searched on TH-cam (what would we do without TH-cam instructional videos?) and found this one. It's perfect. Much appreciated. Be well.
@@SparkyChannel Thanks. 1 quick question: How wide do the jaws of the adjustable wrench need to be able to open to work with the nut on this faucet? (i.e. will 1.5" be wide enough, or does it need to be bigger? I know they should be smooth jaws, just not sure how wide.)
Thank you for this video! I had just bought the kit not realizing that Delta would send one for free (good to know!). With your help, I managed to fix my leaky kitchen faucet by myself. Yay!
If you have a Big Box home store near you, it's probably better to buy the repair kit there. It could takes weeks to get the free parts from Delta while you deal with the leaky faucet every day until then. The repair kits are only a few dollars.
Thank you for a wonderfully detailed yet not too wordy explanation how to replace this single type of faucet. I rent but the current repair person is sadly inept and makes a huge mess for simple repairs. I was shocked at the results of the 6 inches caulking job under the tub faucet he did in my shower/bathtub that still had gaps, zero confidence. I fixed my leaky kitchen faucet without any surprises or lengthily clean up after.
Thanks for all the guidance on this. Our delta single handle wall mount faucet (from 1990's?) has been long out of production, but after waiting on hold and sending photos, they sent us all the parts we needed (in 3 shipments from 2 different states). Your video made it as easy as you make it look.
Extremely helpful video! I obtained my repair kit free of charge, as you implied it might be. Delta is great! Your video definitely helped my accomplish this long-needed task. Thank You good sir!
Your video was a lifesaver, Bill. My kitchen sink has no shutoff valves so a mistake would have meant no water to the entire house. I wondered about all the plumber's grease, and after I finished the handle would not stay up. But once I wiped the grease off the ball, the thing worked prefectly.
Great video and AWESOME advice regarding the tip about Delta providing replacement parts if you are the original owner when the faucet was installed. Just received confirmation from Delta that the needed part is on the way.
It’s 10-27-2024…finally trying to fix my “base” leak in an old Delta single handle. Video is great. Your video shows when removing the two springs that are seated an unobstructed hole that you tell us to clean on the front of cartridge for water. My hole has something over the hole like a diffuser. Wasn’t sure if I should remove???? Many thanks!!!
Very helpful easy to understand video. I followed each step to successfully repair my faucet for free. I got the free repair kit from Delta and had the faucet repaired within a week of watching your great video. I had never heard of plumbers grease, now I will never forget! Thanks!
Thank you for your guidance. I just a couple snafus. One was that the hot water shutoff leaked, so I had to turn off the main water valve and the water heater intake to get the hot water to stop. The tip to get the corroded handle off with wd40 was great.
thank you so much for mentioning the plastic washer which fits it in bottom of the handle part--could not get it working without this important step--now no leaks; your step by step was really good
Thanks, Bill - I was just about to order a replacement cartridge for $50, when I came across your video. I called Delta, and they are sending me one for FREE!
Bill, love the video. Complete, concise and very easy to follow. Thank you! The only thing I would mention is "if" you still see a slow drip after replacing all faucet parts (Delta of course ;-)) check your aerator. It can hold hard water sediment; the washers may need to be replaced etc. This was my case.
We had a soft ring under the cam assembly. It made it a mother to hold the notch in while screwing the cap back on. Thanks for the easy to follow instructions! Great video! ♥
Thanks so much Bill for this video! I followed it religiously so to speak and it worked perfectly for me. It was hard finding a video for my Delta faucet which is years old. But the faucet in this video looked identical, except for the sprayer. But that didn't matter. Thanks again for recording this HOW TO video.
This was so thorough and clear to follow. Thanks so much! You sound a bit like the infamous Scotty Kilmer (auto guy on TH-cam with 5.13 million subscribers). Thought he was branching out. Appreciate that you give as easy to understand instructions as he does. Feel more confident now to attempt this fix.
Hi you are the best! Had a delta faucet leaking around the base when turned on and the spout and base parts were easy to take off, exposing the o rings. Your intro prompted me to call delta who was VERY nice and helpful. They will send me an oring kit for free this time (prob b/c Im not the original owner) and I was able to stop the leak with some teflon tape for now. Liked and subbed!
Very good explanation on how to repair a leaky faucet. One thing I would caution viewers on is to be careful not to score the ball seat with the screwdriver. I would use something like my Dremel tool with a brass wire brush attachment for that part of the job. I also thought it might be a good idea to put a little plumbers grease on the outside of the two rubber inserts before reinstalling them in the housing.
Called Delta. They sent me the wrong part. I wanted the rubber seals/springs and they sent me the cam assbly. The "customer service" rep had no idea what I was talking about. I bought the correct part on Amazon. Good job Delta! Previously they sent me a replacement handle that was so poorly machined that it didn't secure to the ball. I bought a Home Depot handle that doesn't match cosmetically but it works! Delta needs to get it together and have people that understand their products and not just answer the phone!
@@SparkyChannel Thanks for your excellent instructional video, it was very thorough and left nothing unanswered. I didn't replace the spout O rings since I have a pull out faucet sprayer and It wasn't yet needed and it would have complicated things more than I wanted to deal with. The leak has stopped and the handle is working smoothly. I have no need to replace the faucet so I'll stick with my Delta since I now know how to fix it. Thanks again.
Worked like a charm. Don't skip the grease. A Big South Florida Thank You, Wild Bill. $12 on Amazon to Fix it. The water valves gave me some trouble. However, after knocking on them with a wrench and a little WD-40 they loosen right up.
Great video. So many DIY videos I have watched leave out critical information assuming that everyone already knows about it. Your video went step by step and clearly explained the process taking out any guesswork and making the job simple. Thanks
Thanks alot, man! I accidently have the same faucet in the kitchen and this video really helps me. Greetz from Russia! Btw, my Delta faucet is 25+ y.o. And still works (but drippin). So after this video I'm finally to fix it.
I knew how to do that because I've done it many times in my 60 years of married life, BUT ... I watched your video anyway. I must say you made an excellent video and did a great job of explaining and showing each and every step for those who didn't know, or have never done it before! - Well done Sparky! 😀👍
Outstanding video. However, here's a suggestion I learned from doing this fix. When reassembling parts, do NOT use a wrench to tighten the top cap (fancy nut). Just tighten that nut finger tight, and maybe give it another 1/4 twist with a wrench. Wrenching the nut down like a gorilla forces the ball against the (concave) mating surface and it rubs. First time: I firmly wrenched down that nut until it was snug and the faucet developed a slow drip - drip - drip, after final assembly in closed position - moving handle slightly off center seemed to stop drip. Also, I could feel a slight "drag" when moving the lever around, in certain positions, indicating something was rubbing. I disassembled it again and noticed the 2 rubber washers (seats) were flush with the hole, instead of protruding slightly, indicating the ball was pressing against the body. After reassembling I tightened the nut hand tight. There was still a tiny drip drip. I then retightened it by hand with about a 1/5 or 1/4 additional turn with a wrench. There was still approx. 1/8" gap between the (lower) edge of the nut and (upper) edge of spout assembly. If you keep cranking the nut tighter and tighter, that space will disappear until both edges touch. The first time I did this, it seemed normal to crank until the space disappeared and the nut was tight. (Like you would with typical threaded plumbing pressure pipe.) But in this case it seems a little more finesse is needed. Just my 2 cents.
Good vid Wild Bill and I called Delta a couple years ago after watching your vid and they did exactly what you said they would and got the repair kit from them ...
Bill, you're awesome. I can't thank you enough for letting me know about Delta's lifetime replacement and the number to call. They are sending me out the parts I need to fix my 20+ year old kitchen faucet! 🙂 💞
Hell yea sick video, thanks sparky! It’s just about as easy as you made it. Incase anyone is panic scrolling MY everything was way dirtier than the video (steel wool ur bff) my cam assembly didn’t snap in entirely like the video just make sure its in the slot, faucet did leak the whole time until reassembly it’ll be alright just finish putting it all back :D
Without question, the BEST video re how to fix a Delta single lever faucet! Your step-by-step instructions are not only clear and easy to understand, but you take into account things that an experienced plumber might not think to bring to a novice "plumber's" attention. Your thoughtful attention to detail, together with your confident and encouraging manner enabled me to successfully repair my kitchen tap. I feel such a sense of accomplishment! I could never have done it without your expertise. Many, many thanks!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge to help people. The repair worked perfectly, and thank god I followed your tip to block the drains or else I would have lost the little hex screw used to secure the handle.
Just a heads up the newer faucets have a plastic cartridge. There should be a tag on the supply line with a model number and manufacture date. Was able to call and get a free replacement cartridge by calling Delta. Great concise no nonsense tutorial! Thank you!
Very informative, I appreciated the step by step walk-thru. My repair kit did not come with the white ring that goes on the bottom of the faucet, other than that my experience was spot on.
Thank you for your good instruction! I was able to replace the insides of my Delta faucet. The hot water was leaking and it turned out one of those little thingies with the spring was cracked. Not anymore!
Just finished with the repairs, following your video all the way. Working perfectly -- thanks! There were a couple of spots where your video kept me from going down a bad path !
Great video! If I could've gotten the beauty ring off by myself, I would've succeeded in doing this project without my husband's help. Unfortunately, it was just a little too tight for me to manage. But other than that, I had no problems, thanks to you.
Great job Bill. No frills, just all that is needed to do it correctly. I winged it last time (only lasted a couple years, no grease was one problem) but I will follow your vid to a T and I'm betting it will work perfectly. Thank you for posting! Subscribed!
@@SparkyChannel Bill, Funny story: The parts in my faucet look IDENTICAL to the one in your video except for a "974-012 DIVERTER DEFLECTOR" that fell out of the spout supply hole when I removed the spout assembly. OK. I already had the Danco parts before I saw your video and heard your recommendation to get only OEM parts free from Delta and I did not get the kit with the new ball as I had looked at it and it seemed and felt fine, no rough spots etc., still mirror bright and I believe I had replaced it a few years ago. Well I otherwise followed your great instruction to a T and after putting it back together (with out a DIVERTER DEFLECTOR, I don't think it makes a difference) it seemed fine except the handle had to be in a pretty specific spot for it not to drip. Well I lived with it for a couple weeks and decided I would follow your advice and call delta and get OEM parts. I called and if 20-25 years old like my faucet with no paperwork, they ask you to take a picture to send. I did and the rep could not ID my faucet and asked me to look at the backside and see if there were any markings. There were markings and they clearly said Price Pfister Classic! Dang! OK. Called Price Pfister (800-732-8238) and they do exactly the same as Delta and will send you the parts. Parts are on the way and I will still use your fine video to remind me exactly how to install. Thanks again, my boo boo had nothing to do with you! Reminder to all out there to not ASSUME just because the parts look identical, that they are. I used a mirror to see the back and get the actual OEM name. 👍👍
Hey Bill, Well I got the OEM parts from Price Pfister, but had other projects going so I put the install off. 9 months later it is still put off🤣 Seems that "the handle had to be in a pretty specific spot for it not to drip" was not as big a deal, as that spot became easy to find over time. Hope I can still find the parts from PP! When I do, I will still come back to your great video for another refresher, and I'm sure it will work perfectly. Thanks again! 👍👍@@SparkyChannel
I could not get the ball & cam assemble notch aligned in the cap assembly. I used a 3/4" to 1/2" Sharkbite to push down the ball & cam while I screwed on the cap assembly. Video was very helpful and simple to follow.
Tip when replacing the O-rings: Remove: Bottom one FIRST, then the TOP one - this will keep the bottom one from rolling into the top O-ring slot. Replace: TOP one first, then the Bottom one so it will "ROLL" past the first O-ring slot without seating into it if it was empty.

But people said there are no instructions that come with these kits, so I searched on TH-cam (what would we do without TH-cam instructional videos?) and found this one. It's perfect. Much appreciated. Be well.
Sounds great! Best wishes!
Yay!
Way to go Peg! Great job! :)
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for all the guidance on this. Our delta single handle wall mount faucet (from 1990's?) has been long out of production, but after waiting on hold and sending photos, they sent us all the parts we needed (in 3 shipments from 2 different states). Your video made it as easy as you make it look.
Great job, way to go!
So helpful! Took 38 years before our delta faucet handle sheared the pin off the ball. Got the repair kit and ready for another 40 years.
Great job JM!
Thank you -- total beginner here -- managed to fix my leak based on the information you provided.
Great job Chris!
Extremely helpful video! I obtained my repair kit free of charge, as you implied it might be. Delta is great! Your video definitely helped my accomplish this long-needed task. Thank You good sir!
Thanks so much!
Your video was a lifesaver, Bill. My kitchen sink has no shutoff valves so a mistake would have meant no water to the entire house. I wondered about all the plumber's grease, and after I finished the handle would not stay up. But once I wiped the grease off the ball, the thing worked prefectly.
Excellent!
Thanks!
Fantastic! Great job!
Thank you for your guidance. I just a couple snafus. One was that the hot water shutoff leaked, so I had to turn off the main water valve and the water heater intake to get the hot water to stop. The tip to get the corroded handle off with wd40 was great.
Thank you for this TH-cam! I called the number for Delta that you showed, and they are sending me a replacement kit free of charge!
Thanks for repairing a Delta which is what I have. The best video for the repair and the most concise on what to do to complete the job.
Thanks so much!
thank you so much for mentioning the plastic washer which fits it in bottom of the handle part--could not get it working without this important step--now no leaks; your step by step was really good
Glad I could help! Yes, it won't work correctly without that washer.
Your video is perfection!! Every detail was perfection and to the point!!! Still valuable even in 2024!
Thanks, Bill - I was just about to order a replacement cartridge for $50, when I came across your video. I called Delta, and they are sending me one for FREE!
Excellent!
Good tip, thanks!
My pleasure. Great job!
This video is perfect which provides not only repair detail but also parts&material source. Thanks.
Glad it helped!
My pleasure. LOL! Nope, I'm not Scotty.
Thank you. Replaced my faucet internals today using your video (incl grease). Went smoothly and works perfectly now.
Great job!
used this video step by step and did the entire repair without a hitch. Thanks.
this is the best tutorial i've ever seen.
Thanks Charlie. Welcome to Sparky Channel!
Thanks. This was far superior to anything else I watched. You are a great teacher.
Thanks so much. Best wishes!
@@SparkyChannel All done. It’s working perfectly!!!!
Thanks for the detailed instructions on how to fix the leak!
Thank you Bill. Your instructions are Clear and Concise. We ordered replacements parts and fixed our Delta faucet using your video.
Sounds good, thanks!
Thanks for sharing!
I used to buy exclusively Delta but I've gone to Kohler and Moen in recent years. Of the two, I prefer Kohler for kitchen faucets.
Excellent video, helped me out. Glad you mentioned the plumbers grease.
If you use plumber's grease, the next guy to work on the faucet will thank you. And that next guy might be you! :)
@@SparkyChannelcan you use vaseline instead of plumber's grease?
Worked like a charm. Don't skip the grease. A Big South Florida Thank You, Wild Bill. $12 on Amazon to Fix it. The water valves gave me some trouble. However, after knocking on them with a wrench and a little WD-40 they loosen right up.
Great job William! Yes, those valves can get pretty tight.:)
Got my faucet fixed easily, thanks to you. Awesome detail.
Great to hear!
Great video. So many DIY videos I have watched leave out critical information assuming that everyone already knows about it. Your video went step by step and clearly explained the process taking out any guesswork and making the job simple. Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
I just ordered the parts for my delta kitchen faucet and yes it's free! THANK YOU SO MUCH SPARKY!!! Subscribing and big thumbs up 👍👌👏
No problem, thanks!
Thanks so much!
Thank you Bill! Great video. Last time I paid Ben Franklin plumbing over two hundred dollars to do this.
No problem, thanks! Wow, $200? You can buy a really nice new faucet for that.
Excellent tutorial on how to fix a leaking delta kitchen faucet!
Thanks!
Good vid Wild Bill and I called Delta a couple years ago after watching your vid and they did exactly what you said they would and got the repair kit from them ...
Yes, they love to send out repair kits but getting a new faucet to replace an old worn-out faucet is like pulling teeth! LOL!
I did the same after watching the video and Delta sent out the repair kit no questions asked except when bought and where. Thanks!
@@dstewart4458 Excellent, glad to hear it!
Awesome video. Now I just need to fix my faucet, but this makes me less overwhelmed about the whole thing.
Bill, you're awesome. I can't thank you enough for letting me know about Delta's lifetime replacement and the number to call. They are sending me out the parts I need to fix my 20+ year old kitchen faucet! 🙂 💞
That's great!
Excellent job , both explaining and showing repair.
Great job!
Congratulations, great job! I'm glad my video helped!
Thanks a thousand times for your instructions. You are the best!
Super helpful and loved the clear step by step instructions!! Thank you so much!!
My pleasure, thanks!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge to help people. The repair worked perfectly, and thank god I followed your tip to block the drains or else I would have lost the little hex screw used to secure the handle.
Excellent!
Just a heads up the newer faucets have a plastic cartridge. There should be a tag on the supply line with a model number and manufacture date. Was able to call and get a free replacement cartridge by calling Delta. Great concise no nonsense tutorial! Thank you!
Thanks Andy!
Thank you! I just completed this repair with your help!
Glad it helped!
Glad it helped!
Just fixed my leaky kitchen faucet. A big thanks to you! Cheers!
That's great! Great job on your repair!
Super useful guide! I'm not a plumber by any means by my leak is now fixed.
Glad it helped!
Outstanding. Our younger workers eat Sparky Channel videos up like candy - the explanations are clear and the layout accessible.
Thanks so much!
Just finished with the repairs, following your video all the way. Working perfectly -- thanks! There were a couple of spots where your video kept me from going down a bad path !
Excellent, great job!
Excellent presentation and good information. Got mine working after I replaced the little springs and seals with a "kit" thank you !
Way to go!
This was very helpful. Fixed our faucet without calling a plumber. Now that's a first! $$$$$$
Fantastic! Great job Dennis!
Great video. Wish everyone that does these videos would take the time to explain everything the way you did. Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Nice precise video. I've done this several times, but had missed the o- ring part. Thanks.
Glad it helped! Good job Dave!
Thank you, this was an excellent step by step for me to do this repair.
Great video! If I could've gotten the beauty ring off by myself, I would've succeeded in doing this project without my husband's help. Unfortunately, it was just a little too tight for me to manage. But other than that, I had no problems, thanks to you.
Great job!
Great job Bill. No frills, just all that is needed to do it correctly. I winged it last time (only lasted a couple years, no grease was one problem) but I will follow your vid to a T and I'm betting it will work perfectly. Thank you for posting! Subscribed!
Let me know how it goes. And welcome to Sparky Channel!
Great story. How did it turn out?@@bwvideo0905
That's a plan! Best wishes!@@bwvideo0905

nice video. not exactly my model, but close enough for me to learn some stuff about how mine is leaking. thanks!
Your instructions were perfect clear and concise you made the job very easy for me to handle thank you!

Very good instructional video. Straight to the point, no fluff.

Fantastic video!!! I have parts coming in today for our Delta kitchen faucet. Thanks for posting this!!!!
Glad it was helpful, good luck!
Great video. Thank you for such clear and detailed instructions.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks Blanch!
Thank you so much! I did not know there would be o rings on the column!
Glad I could help!
Wonderful! Just what I needed to see to get the spring and rubber seals out. Thank you very much!
Glad it helped!
I could not get the ball & cam assemble notch aligned in the cap assembly. I used a 3/4" to 1/2" Sharkbite to push down the ball & cam while I screwed on the cap assembly. Video was very helpful and simple to follow.
Thanks Bill. Just did it on my faucet works perfect now
You're what makes TH-cam great!
Tip when replacing the O-rings:
Remove: Bottom one FIRST, then the TOP one - this will keep the bottom one from rolling into the top O-ring slot.
Replace: TOP one first, then the Bottom one so it will "ROLL" past the first O-ring slot without seating into it if it was empty.
