The absolute best video ever… Instructions were spot on… Even for this senior citizen grandma… Was able to fix my faucet in short order… Thank you thank you thank you
Brother, that little trick of using a screwdriver that is thinner than the spring and the gromit just solved for me what has been a half-hour long headache. I cannot thank you enough.
Very helpful, I'm a single female and I rely on videos like this to help do my own repairs, I even installed my own dishwasher a few years ago, it's still going strong. Your video was clear and easy to understand. thank you!!!
Hey Rick, I have reviewed a few of the other videos on this subject and I have to say that this specific one on Delta/Perless was the Most through in comparison. It may have been longer than some of the others, but it Also covered the subject of possibly fixing or upgrading the individual Stem Cartridge which of the ones that I watched did Not review at the same time. I do not how old this video is (from my submission date), But IMHO, you did a bang-up talk and in helping all of us. A Big Thank You ! !
I agree with the above. I saw two other videos which SKIPPED videoing important steps or just quickly glossed over the removal and replacement of the spring and seat without clearing showing what was being done.. Thanks for showing the details.
I love how you explained things like the direction of the spring and how the bottom of the cartridge covers the water inlet. I redid the left faucet that was still leaking after my earlier attempt, snugged down the nut a little better and I think you helped me solve the problem! 74-year old woman!
I've never commented on a video before but HAD to leave a comment to let you know how thankful I am for this video! After I took apart my sink the rubber cap on top of my spring had come off unbeknownst to me. Couldn't get my sink to turn off and got beyond frustrated knowing I HAD to be missing some piece from when I took it apart but had no clue what. This video saved me (and helped me fix the leak). Thank you!!!
Great explanation. I was surprised to see that on mine the threads that the nut attaches to are plastic. The whole “cartridge housing” is made of plastic but otherwise it’s all the same, same cartridge and spring/rubber seal.
Thank you for the info. Before I found your video I had an order on the Delta website shopping cart for $38.64 for a Cartridges and a Seats & Springs. After seeing your video, I decided to order the repair kit using the Amazon link you provided $3.73, it worked like a champ. That was a $35 savings and it was so easy to do. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. This video saved me a lot of money I would have spent on a plumber. I was able to go to my local plumbing supply store and get the replacement cartridges and fix my leak myself.
YES. Finally! The info you noted about the water feeding through on the side of the handle rather than centered with the handle was an especially helpful piece of info that I had not seen in any of the numerous other videos for faucet fixes. I strongly suspect that may explain the issue with my water dripping through the spicket when my cold water handle that swings a little "too far" back when turning off. After watching your video, I'm realizing the moon shaped opening on the bottom of the cartridge for the water feed like the one you've shown is probably just misaligned inside my handle and needs to be rotated or replaced. I will find out for sure shortly. Thank you for the helpful video!
You saved me some money, thanks. My faucet was still leaking after switching out the cartridge, however it was the grommet with the spring that was causing the leak and I would have never figured it out if it weren't for your video.
Thanks mate, only video I've seen that explained the direction of the springs and rubber cap. Saved my ass fixing a handle exploding at 1am; somehow those damn caps ended up on the window ledge instead and took hours of assembling with just the spring before finding your video to understand why the water was on full blast no matter where the handle was when I reassembled it.
You are AWESOME!!! I fixed my faucet following your instructions 🙌🏼 rolled the dice on the part! Mine didn’t have a number identifier of any kind! I matched all areas by eyeballing the details lol! Saved some money 💰!!! I pray many blessings for you and yours!!!!❤
Great video!..I’m a single mother an this 100000% fixed AND helped me get this job done!...Thnk You tons Sir.,,,,,I Really hope you get to feeling better as well,,,prayers from me to yours❤️hang in there ok
Excellent tutorial! My cold water wasn't shutting off so i believe the cartidge is the problem. Im guuna attempt this repair & if i run into probs, hand it off to my husband 😂.
Thank you so much! Your video was a big help. I followed your instructions and just now finished replacing the valve's in my bathroom faucet that had been leaking for the last couple of months. No more dripping, works like new.
You did a great job! Thank you very much! Hopefully my repair goes as well. Your video has the added benefit of taking some of the mystery and fear out of doing these types of repairs. Take care and thank you again from all of us.
@@DiyRick66 Thank you again!! Just finished my repair for $7.38 thanx to your good counsel (2 new seat/springs and a tube of silicone grease). The part of your video where you explained how to troubleshoot where the leak was coming from is what did it for me. Keep up the good work! Stay safe!
I went with the Danco 3S-8H/C cartridge replacement item number 18590B. It had everything. Cost was around $10. Thank you so much for posting this video. Like you, my hot side was leaking. You made it very easy to repair it myself. For what it is worth, that kit with 5 replacement cartridges is no longer available for some reason at Lowe’s. I went to several stores. Nobody has it
The screwdriver to help with the spring and the gromit was simply brilliant. Thank you. Why did the handles change ( from chrome to white) around the 15 minute mark and then change back to chrome-nickel?
I changed the things you showed in the video ( ordered the kit u recommended) and the dripping stopped. The only problem I'm having is that the handle on the right doesn't stop parallel to the rest of the faucet the way its supposed to but you can just keep pushing it. It did stop the drip but why is it that I can just keep pushing it and it won't stop . The handle on the left side is not doing that. I treated them both the same way.
@@DiyRick66 Thank you but the handles will only go in one way. Theres a flat side that has to match up with that plastic thing. If they don't match up the faucet won't go back on. I just tried again but was worse. I don't have any drips but if I push the fauct past where it should stop some water trickles out. I think I'm gonna leave it because its not dripping and I'm afraid of stripping the screw that connects it.
@@DiyRick66 Yeah, I'm happy for that. It's just odd that the one side is perfect and the other side is not. Thank you for the video tho. At least I don't have to hear the constant dripping any more! ha ha!
@@TheGreennblue If you have time you can try swapping them out. If it's the same you know it is something with the faucet. If it makes it right then you need to take back to store & tell them defective & get new. Interesting only just one. 🤞
Thank you. My spring and rubber thingy was really hard to seat. The only way I could get it in there was to get it mostly in then I used a small nail while holding it down to tuck in the the little part of rubber that kept sticking out.
Thank you - this helped a lot. Got my drip fixed. This design exemplifies the triumph of engineering over common sense. Used to be we squished a rubber washer between two pieces of bronze. Clearly, that was entirely unworkable.
This was so so helpful. I was able to take in apart, carry the part to the hardware store, get the appropriate item and replace it in the faucet with no problems. It was so easy. Do you have one on how to install a on and off valve for under the sink? I’m a female looking for something very very simple and basic. Thanks
