I was there in 2007 & 8 & maybe 9. Still wear the polo-shirt. Drove down from Toowoomba Qld. After the Woolgoolga Offroad Forum was disbanded a number of years later I didn't think this weekend was happening anymore. Great to see a lot of the old tracks again and to hear the name Scrub Turkey in your intro. G'day Shane!
Wow, not only can’t you drive but you show how not to winch safely in the first five minutes. Turning your front wheels away from the direction where you are winching from isn’t great but having people standing around not involved in the recovery in an area where if something fails they could get hit is absolutely unsafe. Is there no briefing for this event. As there seems to be a lack of common sense.
Bro like people have said not a great idea posting roll overs like this, from the current track record we have over the last couple months with tracks getting closed because videos like this are spread all over social media like wild fire and end up in the wrong hands. There’s no positives than can come out of something like this ? Also please learn about safe winching, like old mate said having all those people besides the track while winching isn’t the smartest idea
there is a lot to learn from these videos... This one specifically clearly showing that regular maintenance and pre-trip inspections are important for the safety of everyone around and in the car. Using your head and leaving the car at camp would have prevented the whole thing
Gotta make the wrong-un's out to be wrong-uns or they have amunition, if it's clearly stated as "don't do this" then you're actually being proactive to stop abuse and the inevitable closures that follow. Better to call it and recover than to have to recover from the trees... Too many red flags got ignored on that incident.
Yep. The forestry ppl on the sunny coast have employed someone who watches the videos and put together presentations ect on why the tracks need closing. I'm a drifter and similar problem where 1 video is enough to bring cop's and permanently burn spot's. Very frustrating 🤙
This is why you should fix things properly before you keep going or if you can't fix Em turn around and go back. The Laxy would have been fine, but no, you didn't fix it and turn back, did you
That could have gone real bad.. luckiest man alive. I'm sure he learnt a valuable lesson.. will keep an eye out for next years event, fingers crossed my GQ will be ready by then.
big red got closed because it is a powerlines access track like many others are and the same thing happened to it as happens to every powerlines track. Give is 1 or 2 years and it will be back eroded the same as before
Roll starting a car in reverse down a slippery hill with known brake issues, what could go wrong? Let alone the high load winching with the camera man in front of the patrol, The masses have spoken in the comments promoting safe driving and techniques is what this channel should be about. Waiting for the lucky to have my legs video to be out 👌
That track will Get closed. or if your lucky graded and still hear people complain about it because what gets posted online, your a lucky fkr for not hurting yourself best keep it offline. Try using a trunk protector instead of ring barking the trees. 100% don’t rate it ey
Fuck me haha that lux is barley worthy of being in the bush let alone on public roads 😂 you’d hope you don’t have an accident that seriously injures someone because insurance will certainly not help you there. Lawyers call these kind of things life changing events - you end having to pay millions across your life to cover medical costs. It’s surprisingly common.
If the brakes weren’t working sufficiently enough, then roll starting it in reverse was always going to speed up the decent without the means to stop it… should have just eased it down to safety all the way…
@@TRPN.they have got cameras all over Coffs me and a couple of mates found one last year hidden off the start of a track we didn’t dare touch decided to leave Coffs didn’t want defect notice
Given you blanked the number plate of the Hilux out the whole video, one can only come to the decision that it has not ever been engineered. Therefore, not legal to on the road. From as early as the footage of the flex challenge it appears the tie rod is bent. Then it has a leaking brake master cylinder, followed by a flat battery. And that’s aside from the already mentioned people standing in the danger areas during winching recoveries. In over 30 years of 4WDrinving and over landing I have seen hundreds of tracks shut. Frankly I don’t care what dumb shit people do. As far as I’m concerned it’s their business, providing they don’t hurt or worse other people. But showing incidents like you did only leads to further limiting of access to Public Lands . Think of the potential effects of showing stuff like this before you post.
Simple thing here for ALL to learn from: If you have a problem with the vehicle, bow out! fix it then come back, yes, you might miss a track or two, even a day, but that's it. There are a few red flags here that should have been leading to the above bow out, the lack of good brakes, the oil on the diff (NOT brake related) the poor starting, the other thing that should have been done is a controlled recovery decent, so get someone else to lower the car so it's not an issue and everyone drives home safely. The other thing I see is tyre pressures are all too high, those inclines, you probably want to go to 8psi and risk the bead rather than eat the track which was happening a lot in the video. Live and learn, watch what happens in the UK as we are loosing tracks everyday because of abuse and people that can't drive them causing the powers that be to put a TRO (Traffic Restriction Order) on lanes, a TTRO (temporary TRO) is only a begining to a closure. you never get them back. I would love to have my future build on some of those tracks, it'd be fun.
I do agree and disagree with this video it is alot of young lads just getting out there and having fun and thats good however the rollover being posted isnt the best as it is what is shutting down the tracks however in saying that it is open to the public like any roads and crashes happen where people rollover all the time and they dont get shut down.
if they knew his brakes were leaking and still decided to keep driving i honestly don't feel that bad, glad hes okay but you did that to yourself and put everyone else at risk of something like that happening
Congratulations to the person that took the winch off. 🤷♂️ This was everyone’s fault who didn’t do what they were supposed to do. Break problems, supposedly a “Dead battery” and releasing the winch. Fken stupid.
you guys need to watch 4wd/24/7 and learn about safe practice recovery and spotting, also go and watch all4adventures episode where he destroyed his GM Silverado on the cribbs track. The first thing they did was turn the engine off instead of standing around like a mob of idiots going ooooh ahh!!!
First time watching cant watch this again. They make too many risks and stupid decisions that could cost them their lives. Instead of just winching they keep trying to drive a trail at risky angles and dont even give spotting. Just leave it all to guessing games.
Lot of mistakes there. You guys need to learn about safe winching and how to winch. The winch does the work not drive same time while winching. I see it all the time. Then end up with broken axles, cv's, you name it. And drivers should wear seat belts all the time. You roll over with no seat belt and it's very dangerous. p platers. say no more.
@@TRPN. You have 7000 kg rope double line pulls all the time and you will never damage cv axel shafts etc. The strain on those components while spinning wheels etc exceeds torque specs.
