A great villain needs to be the perfect foil for the hero, the ying to his yang. Lex Luthor, who started out as your stereotypical mad scientist of the 30s pulps, has grown into the perfect foil for Superman, the polar opposite of him in many respects. Brain versus brawn. Merely human versus super human. Wealthy urbanite versus working class farm boy. Corruption versus incorruptibility. Egomania versus humble selflessness. And I love how Lex resents Superman's very existence as a kind of insult to human achievement, the kind of achievement Lex has exemplified. So, there's a psychological component to their rivalry. It's the perfect pairing of villain and hero.
Exactly, Superman represents hope, better tomorrow, but Lex is someone who completely misinterprets that lection. I always liked that Lex isn't overly cartoony egoistic and up his own ass, like Lex DOES genuinely respect other people, even if they're better than him in some way, because he appreciated and respects, to put it simply "the grind", no matter how much would he love to be number 1. Honestly Batman vs Joker and Superman vs Lex Luthor are such lighting in the bottle type rivalries, I can't BELIEVE DC nailed those two so well, easily my favorite rivalries in comic history

And perhaps there's too much team switching in X-Men.
Good all Time list. I think Thanos would be on on my list solely due to the MCU. He was the most hyped up villains of any comic movie, and was practically the main character of infinity war. Infinity war and endgame were also some of the highest grossing films too. Not only that, but the infinity war storyline back in the day was pretty big and I feel like after infinity war, he got put more into the spotlight in the comics. And now that Kang ( or probably doom at this point) is going to be the big bad of the mcu, I hear a lot of people expecting a lot from them is since thanos set the bar so high.

The only villain I am sure of that would make it no matter what is The Joker Edit: I love how the Villain Rushmore is equally divided between Marvel and DC with the DC villains being villains of individual heroes while the Marvel villains are villains are villains of groups. Personally, I would pick Goblin over Doom due to familiarity with Goblin but I can understand it.
Nah, goblin isn’t as great as doom. The only reason you feel that way is because goblin is a Spider-Man villain. Doom has had way more impact and could be placed on this guys list in every age whereas goblin cant. I love Pisderman and the green goblin, but what is a Goblin To Lord Doom
I think Dr. Sivana should have been in consideration for the Golden Age Rushmore. Although Black Adam is often considered Captain Marvel’s main villain in the modern day, back in the golden age that honour, without a doubt, belonged to Sivana whose appearance would go on to characterize our modern visual interpretation of the mad scientist trope.
1) It's sort of funny that for like, half a century The Penguin was probably more known to the public than any villain outside the Joker or Luthor. 2) I think if you split up the modern age further, the Green Goblin would have missed a Rushmore spot. Osborn was "dead" for more than twenty years, those twenty years being some of the most lucrative for the comic book industry. While his legacy was felt (See: Hobgoblin) I think he owed his renaissance to the "back to basics" mentality that happened in the wake of Kurt Busiek's and Alex Ross's MARVELS. 3) When I was growing up, Sabretooth was sort of a bigger deal than Mystique. I think the movies definitely raised her profile, I also think it was the rise of the Gay Rights movement, where she was the one who most represented the X-Men's queer parallels. 4) It's funny, Thanos feels like he's an outsized impact due to the movies (And seriously, he's sort of become a verb in the larger popular consciousness) but because the X-Men and Spider-Man "silos" were more high profile, you forget he wasn't exactly asleep at the wheel. He got to be in the cartoons, he got to be a final boss in video games, I think he might even be the only Marvel villain to get a card in every single Marvel wide series (Except for maybe Venom, who you disqualified).
@@LooseAsADEUCEHonestly in anti-heros marvel takes the cake easily, the mount would be Wolverine, Deadpool, Venom and Punisher and even then you have more options like Ghost Rider, Black Widow, Winter Soldier, Blade, etc. DCs only candidates would be Harley and Red Hood tbh

Lex Luthor is iconic, but I've always felt that Superman constantly had to be nerfed (especially his intelligence) in order maintain their rivalry. Flash's rogues gallery has been praised for its variety, but most of them are quite random in my eyes. TMNT villains, on the other hand, are underrated.
1. Joker
2. Magneto
3. Dr. Doom
4. Lex Luthor
10 years ago, sure. But now, Thanos is definitely on the Rushmore. He's way more recognizable than Doom.
reverse flash?
@@herowither12354 thats only because the Dr hasn't been done justice on the big screen give my man a director thst actually gives a shit and people will fucking love him way more than Thanos
@@johnrockyryan So true. Doom is and always will be my number one favorite comic book character. I truly hope RDJ can do him justice in the MCU.
For me
1. Lex Luthor
2. Doctor Doom
3. Magneto
4. Joker
Imagine how a conversation between Frieza and Red Skull would be. I can only imagine the out of pocket things they would be saying.
1. Joker
2. Doctor Doom
3. Darkseid
4. Thanos/Magneto
6. Galactus
7. Doc Ock
8. Green Goblin
9. Brainiac
10. Lex Luthor
HM. Deathstroke, Harley Quinn, Reverse Flash, Bane, Mr. Mxyzptlk, Starro, Bizarro, Sinestro, Black Adam, Doomsday, Anti Monitor, Red Skull, Mystique, Ultraman, Two Face, Ra's Al Ghul, Sandman, Lobo, Captain Cold, Riddler, Penguin, the Phoenix, Apocalypse, Carnage, Atrocitus, Red Hulk, Loki, Juggernaut, Poison Ivy, Trigon
Maybe Dr Sivana, AMAZO, Ultron and Sabretooth too.
I say Lex Luthor, Magneto, Dr Doom, and the Joker
I feel like Reverse Flash deserves to be on here because of not only how cool he is, but how influential he is. Without a polar opposite character like him, it’s likely that we wouldn’t have cool characters like Venom, and Shadow The Hedgehog.
The only villain I am sure of that would make it no matter what is The Joker
Edit: I love how the Villain Rushmore is equally divided between Marvel and DC with the DC villains being villains of individual heroes while the Marvel villains are villains are villains of groups.
Lex, Doom, Joker and Green Goblin. That's my Mount Rushmore of villainy
Well, now it's time for the Mount Rushmore of...Antiheroes!😁👍
All-Time Prediction: Venom, Harley, Deadpool, and Punisher
@@LooseAsADEUCE That seems about right to be honest and I totally agree with your all-time picks.
The Reverse Flash deserves his spot purely because unlike the other villains he doesn't pussyfoot around with "themes" or nonsense like that, he's the opposite of the Flash because his name says so and he has on a backwards costume. Remarkably efficient.
Yet not as iconic as the others, not as significant to their universe, and frankly, not as popular. He’s great, but it he isn’t an all timer great when it’s limited to 4
For me its
Joker Shredder Vader Thanos
@Gamer_Wolf.well you could argue shedder because TMNT have appeared in some parts of dc and Star Wars has some connection to marvel. But that’s just what I know
@@Slick9562No the character have to appear at dc and marvel since the beginning.
I would have included The Maker in the post-modern era Rushmore personally
It’s an absolute crime reverse flash isn’t on any Mount Rushmore he’s the definition of petty and evil and a counterpart to his hero flash makes his destiny reverse flash was made by his he will stop at nothing to make the flashes life a hell hes beyond death and time and he’s a frequently used character throughout all time he was in silver age and he still is today he was frequently on the flash and other cw shows not to mention meme culture and animated projects I’m convinced he would have made it in a big movie if the dc movies weren’t ass for so long my best wishes to James but still she should be there especially if Godspeed is
It isn’t whether he’s iconic or more iconic than Godspeed, it’s his competition. Go look at the silver age and tell me he beats any of them
In Superman 2, general zod, non, and ursa are using heat vision to make their own Mount Rushmore and destroying Lincoln.
A shame that there isn’t at least one spot that isn’t Marvel or DC characters, Shredder could be a good contender for that spot, or the Violator from Spawn.
Ah yes the villain Mount Rushmore, consisting of Lex Luthor, Magneto, Dr Doom and Jerma985.
I called it in the community posts
“Speaking of place, you might want to put me in mind with this next choice…” Love it
Mystique was an odd choice. There's about 20 I could think of before her.
I was thinking the same, then he said she was more popular than Deathstroke and I was floored.
Keep Zooming, mate! Well done on bot videos! Thoroughly enjoyed, discovered a few new ones, and each entry was properly justified (reasonably so anyways). Keep it up!
My all time
1. Joker
2. Lex Luthor
3. Magneto
4. Reverse Flash (his pettiness is unmatched)
4. Dr Doom
28:15
Court of Owls. It’s the Court of Owls. Scott Snyder’s New 52 Batman run, has a far larger impact in and outside of the comics than Kull ever did. Who pretty much falls into the category as Anti-Monitor and Doomsday
I 100% agree with the final 4 they are what I would choose
As someone who has grown apart from superhero media the last 5 or so years, your videos have given me a newfound appreciation for the genre
This is a based comment that I agree with especially with the burnout from the sheer content from all media sources.
@@orlandotill and the lack of creativity
No one laughs at Mr Fish
i applaud this video
notably more objective and broader in scope than the heroes version just like you elaborated on in the end
Doomsday, Dr. Doom, Darth Vader (or Palpatine) and The Joker. I think some honorable mentions should be Darksied, Green Goblin, Lex Luthor, Red Skull, Godzilla (1954) and King Ghidorah from just about any iteration. There’s a load of other characters for the Rushmore spots and I just kinda linked the characters from all over there history. Can’t forget Transformers either, Unicron, Megatron, Starscream and Shockwave are all contenders
I feel like the bad guy Mt Rushmore is easily Luthor, Joker, Magneto, Doom
18:46 Please send me the names of all my fellow millennials who hate Jubilee. I would like to have a word with them *grabs shotgun*.
What song is at 3:12?
Also, I definately agree on the same four. Lex Luthor, Magneto, Dr Doom and Joker are just the quintessential villains for comics.
If it’s 2 Marvel and 2 DC then it has to be Doctor Doom, the Green Goblin, Lex Luthor and Joker.
All Marvel: Doom, Goblin, Thanos and Magneto
All DC: Luthor, Joker, Darkseid and Deathstroke.
slade over thawne?
@@rangelsedits - Yes. He’s the archenemy of DC’s #2 superhero team, was their archenemy in a time when, not only were they at their most popular, they were constantly competing to be the #1 best-selling monthly book, with X-Men at the height of their popularity. He’s also responsible for the best Titans story, The Judas Contract, has defeated and nearly killed them on multiple occasions, has taken on and held his own against Batman, Green Arrow and even the Justice League and has made way more appearances in extended media, including one of the best and most popular DC shows of all time, the Teen Titans cartoons
This list is not good. Goblin is not a better fit than magneto by any stretch. Spidey is my favorite hero, and goblin is my favorite villain of spideys, but magneto beats him without question. I think the people saying goblin have some recency bias
@@oldylad Magneto has been a anti hero plenty of times and barely been a villian as of late. He is more protective over mutants and hates humans who are racist against his kind. He has helped the Xmen lots of times. Green Goblin is a VILLIAN and the first one to successfully kill the love interest and he is also the main villian of marvels number 1 hero Spider-Man
Before the video starts I have to call it as Lex Luther, Magneto, Joker and Doctor Doom or MAYBE Venom.
Court of Owls will definitely be explored more with Pattinson's Batman .. the Gotham series also touched on them
Hopefully
Darth vader is such a strong villain that he should break the rules and be on the Rushmore anyway
Carnage over Doomsday is unforgivable
I would say The Petiest Man Alive instead of Doctor Doom.
You don’t read comics? Reverse Flash didn’t even make it on his origin ages list, he’ll even in the later ages he wouldn’t make it. He is not an all timer
0:02 Bad boy season 💪
It would probably be Joker, Lex Luthor, Green goblin, and Dr Doom
All Time Mount Rushmore Of Villains:
1. Lex Luthor
2. The Joker
3. Darkseid
4. Eobard Thawne/Reverse Flash
You mean just DC Villians right😂.
Nah this has gotta be just the DC version cuz there's no way reverse flash, or darkseid would jump ahead of Dr doom, magneto, venom, green Goblin, doctor octopus, or Thanos.
No way Reverse Flash is in the top 4
@@KKingTy03
Darkseid would 100% beat most if not all of those characters, he's recognisable, a powerful threat, he's smart, he's practically pure evil and he has one of the most over powered super power (Omega beams). Additionally he inspired Thanos.
Reverse flash was the most influential reverse version of a hero, he went from one of the flashes biggest fans to his worst enemy and most importantly he inspired many other characters such as Red Hulk, Venom, Batman who laughs, Owlman etc.
No debe ser
Lex luthor
Joker
Dr doom
Magneto
Green Goblin! That gives us 2 Marvel and 2 DC. Doom is also a strong contender, but would he allow himself to be put in with other Villains!
My List:
-Magneto
-Sauron
-Darth Vader
-Griffith
The Joker, Darth Vader, Satan, and a Nazi.
im gay
Dr. Doom, Lex Luthor, and Joker for sure need to be on there. Without those three it cant be considered legitimate.
Magneto doesn’t need to be? You underestimate his significance bro
Why isn't MF DOOM there
“Killer Croc. He’s a Killer Croc” 14:23
“The most aggressively 90s character ever created, Onslaught.” 19:03
Tough choices, but imma go with Malaceth from Thor: The Dark World, Joker from Suicide Squad (2017), Lex Luthor from Batman v Superman, and Deadpool from X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
Villains of villains. The worst of the worst. The Rushmore of Infamy.
this video is great bro, it cool that you split the video into the different comic eras, anyways I subbed keep up the good work !!
That top 4 is perfect
yea i’d agree 100% these 4 are absolutely the best . Magneto is like an anti hero nowadays but he’ll always be the perfect villian for the x-men
Hes an anti villain which is why he works, hes an anti hero to mutants but a villain to the x men
@@dc7981no. He’s fighting for mutant supremacy, which is what he doesn’t want to happen to mutants. An antihero is an antihero because they fight for a good cause through immoral means, magneto fights for a bad cause, maybe for a good reason, but he’s still evil.
My MT Rushmore would be Thanos, Joker, Green Goblin, and Doctor Doom.
Lex Luthor, The Joker, Doctor Doom and Magneto
Holy shit, That's exactly what he went with
For the villian mount Rushmore I think it should be: joker, ozymandias, magneto, and doctor doom.
Ozy isn't a popular villain dude.
Also can't believe Marvel's Dracula wasn't even in consideration. One of my personal favorite comic book villains
I think Dr Doom and Magnito dabble too much into anti hero and anti villian too much to count, even though they are goats in terms of characters.
It would be interesting to see your take on an Anime mount Rushmore or just anime protagonist mount Rushmore
I love the art style for the thumbnail, looks so cute
In no particular order: Joker, Lex Luthor, Dr. Doom, and Magneto. Some can argue Thanos in place of Magneto due to his popularity from the MCU.
Nah, that’s a recency bias thing, magneto beats thanos overall
Joker, Doctor Doom, Magento and Darkseid.
I just gotta say, Harley Quinn is just as much of an anti hero as venom, if not more
I think it's bc her inclusion was in the 90s when she was mostly a villain. I would raise the same point if she had been in contention for the all-time list.
Vader, Joker, Magneto and Voldemort
But if only Marvel and DC
Joker, Lex, Magneto and Doom
Awesome video 🤙
I think the best villains are the ones that are genuinely terrifying, like carnage and the joker. They don’t just want to watch the world burn. They want the world and everyone and everything in it to suffer in the most painful, drawn out way possible, and I love it.
Every comic made throughout your life be your childhood comic.
Because the childhood will never end! I see you pop into the video every now and then😄
Honestly, the all time one couldn't be anything else.
Fun fact: The BtAS team was actually forced to include Bane into the series. They didnt like the story orBatman's defeat where they ultimately left him as a lesser character in direct response. Focusing on action
