Hell yeah man. You and Matchie putting in the work to reinvent the deck and show players that utilizing other engines is what we need. Pure DM is cute and all, but if you actually want to win against most modern decks, you need more.
Nice list! I just recently started playing dogmatika in my build the other week since I was digging into it for a homie of mine and thought why the hell not! Haven’t played Schism or the Shadoll monsters yet, but I’ll definitely give it a shot after this video!
Love this build Loza! I've never really thought about playing 1 Rod, but maybe when competitive locals comes round again (we have a casual and comp scene), I might consider it. Also, tomorrow is my birthday, i'm turning 24! Having a tag team night at locals for tomorrow, so thats gonna be really fun! Also, also, get well soon my man!
Swords of Concealing Light is an interesting tech option. Something I've observed with DM hybrid builds is they tend not to have a strong grind game. When a player runs a very thin Dogmatika package like this, for instance, or a very thin Branded package, and consequently a diluted DM core, you've got everything you need for a strong turn 1, but if the game lasts longer than that, your ability to push becomes very limited. Dead Nadirs, dead Branded Fusions, no more Windas to summon, etc. It's why we tend to lean on floodgates like Secret Village and Winda, because we can't trade interactions for very long, so we have to stop interactions from even happening. Swords of Concealing Light addresses that weakness to some degree by allowing you to keep your powder dry and build resources for one explosive turn. Something to think about for sure. Zero Ash in the main or Droll in the side is ballsy for sure. How are you dealing with decks like Floo, Branded, Rescue-ACE, and Mannadium? Or is there not a lot of that at your local?
nadir can add dogmas from GY so no nadir is never dead i play multiple red eyes so ref is live past turn 1 as well coz normally i need 2 goons i literally beat rescue ace in one of the rounds lol.
@@LOZA-DM I saw re: Rescue-ACE. Didn't mean to imply it wasn't possible, I asked what your plan was. Re: Nadir Servant, it's true that you can grab Dogmatika monsters from the grave, but the utility of doing that is fairly limited, especially when you're not running Maximus. You can grab Fleurdelis for a beater, which isn't terrible, but unless Ecclesia is on the field you don't get the negate, which is the main reason to run Fleur. You can grab Ecclesia, but she's not going to have anything to search. Neither are terrible options, but neither are great after you've made your main play with them. There's also the issue of then needing to pitch more monsters from the extra deck after you've already pitched your dedicated filler monsters. Anybody who runs Dogmatika in a deck like this knows the deal and can make strategic choices about what to sacrifice, but the fact that you have to sacrifice any of your ace monsters to grab a largely nerfed Dogmatika monster from the grave is a pain in grindy games. REF gives you more resilience in the late game, for sure. I'm here talking shop, not criticizing you.
Second comment I made on this but I love this profile. I already play DM/Dogmatika with the Winda combo but now I see where I can add the REF engine too.
YOOOOOO LOZA !!!! It’s been a while !!! I hope all is good, and glad to see that you are still on Dark Magicians I wish I was but just waiting for the structure to play it again. Would you consider playing a second winda?? If they out the first winda and schism is still on board, you can use the winda in grave and another dark to go for it?? Thank you for the content!!
Lately I've been thinking about crawling back to Dragoon Turbo because of how god awful i am with Branded Dark Magician (I have no idea how Matchie kicks ass with that deck), but anyways if you did have access to Chaos Angel what card would you take out to put it in? Also is Ty-phon worth running in this build?
Can you do a toon deck profile please and see what you can use with toons. Seen kashtira used in it with 3 unicorns and 1 birth. Would really appreciate it as im looking to build a better toon deck
Great work! I want more people to start only running one rod and 2 Soul Servant. you don't need any more as they are extremely searchable. I do also think that 1 DM and 1 DMG is the play for that pot of greed effect of Soul Servant. But I play Branded so I don't need the 2 DM's. Great build though! The Dogmatika engine is great and Nadir's Servant is also really great.
IMO, you should try on getting 2x crossouts, with it and ash chances of having Dragoon would be better, Timmy and salvation can be replaced for Crossout, and Ash could take Infinite's place
Circle imperm soul servant secrets prep. Circle chain soul servant, choose to add DM. Prep for illusion, illusion for timaeus, put back illusion. Play secrets, summon dragoon, banish soul servant draw 1, set imperm, pass. Dragoon plus 1 neg. Not complete trash :).
Just a question. Could a morphing jar be bad to play at 1 as you can only set the turn you activate ref and if you do not need it, you could put it back in the deck with IoC, giving you a fresh hand in the battle phase is not back, especially with a dragoon protection.
I do agree that it’s not meta. It’s rogue at best when you mix in other engines or go heavy on floodgates and board breakers, but there is definitely a wrong way to play it.
@@robsantorobass that’s like a tier 1 deck yugioh player coming up to a DM deck player and saying, “you’re playing yugioh wrong” cuz OBVIOUSLY tier 1 decks are the way to go and ESSENTIALLY we are playing yugioh wrong with a crap deck… there is no bad way to play a crap deck lol it’s all about luck and chance. We play DM for nostalgia and to have fun, and MAYBE once in a while win, and while there is certain cards that can facilitate that… it’s not a guarantee
@@Dooms_Day_King I’m not saying DM is a fantastic deck. On its own it definitely isn’t. You are right that we do love to play it because it’s one of the OG’s most players grew up with. But there’s definitely a right way and a wrong way to play it. I’m not saying you’re gonna win a YCS with it with what we have now but there’s definitely been people who’ve at least done decent against what are higher tier decks because of engines, side deck, etc opposed to someone with the mentality of “the decks bad, just play whatever.” Those players are gonna struggle to get wins even with friends let alone a locals setting.
@@robsantorobass I’m not saying play whatever, I’m saying every local/mindset is different, every player is different… it’s like if a pro yugioh player played DM, I’m sure he would get better results than your average Joe, regardless of deck building theory. Again, staples or certain engines do give you a better chance, but if everyone else has those same cards, then they cancel each other out. Meaning regardless of staples/floodgates/engines/luck/chance/player knowledge… there’s no right or wrong way to play this deck
@@Dooms_Day_King let’s agree to disagree then. I do see what you’re saying in the sense of if you wanna play the deck casually. But if you play 3 DM, 3 Circle, 3 Eternal Soul, piercing the darkness, from a more competitive standpoint of the deck you’re playing it wrong. Now DM may not be a meta deck but if you wanna play it more competitive than your typical casual player there is definitely a right way to play it.
