I wanted SNP out but Labour won’t be any better and it’s another 1 of them as FM.
SNP have done great things for Scotland but titaly lost their way and didn't deliver us from the UK. The obsession for SNP with independence has become a sickness. What people want is for SNP to deliver the very best for Scotland and for Scottish people. Focus on social inclusion and mobility And economic growth and education and no more talk of independence for the next 25 years. Not factually correct. SNP voters did not vote labour. SNP voters just didn't show up. The numbers paint this picture perfectly. English parties only got 34% of the vote between them all in Scotland. If SNP voters showed up they would have wiped the floor with labour.
David, the reason SNP voters did not turn up was that they are disillusioned with the SNP. The SNP have failed in government. They have been too obsessed with independence, and failed in their day job of governing the country. What do you mean by English parties? For a start SNP needs rebranding specifically a name change. I would rename the party "SCOTLAND 1705" because this the date that Scotland was an Independent country pre the act of union in 1707.

I've been casting around social media for people's views of why the SNP lost - initially I thought of a 'top ten', but it got bigger quickly, so here's what came up, they are roughly in order of importance to the electorate as far as I could see. Any duplication, errors etc - my fault.
Arrogance and incompetence of the SNP government
Failure to listen to the Electorate and not focussing on issues that matter to them
Named Persons Bill, Gender Recognition, Trans Rights, Hate Crime, DRS not wanted
Forever blaming someone else - Westminster, Conservatives, Labour and even Thatcher
Obsession with power not Independence
White, White, White
Always bleating on about independence without addressing real needs
Lack of honesty and transparency - lying, cheating and stealing
Divisiveness of Sturgeon inciting hatred
Didn't talk about anything other than Indy in their speeches & literature.
Uninspired leadership of last 2 FMs
Failure to actually make any move towards Independence in 17 years
Last 3 or 4 years considered the worst government Scotland has had.
Incompetent, hubristic, arrogant and corrupt.

Probably the most vociferous feedback was : The SNP needs to take it's head out of its ar$e & start working towards its declared goal whilst running Scotland in ways that will increase trust. Why would we ask for independence from the UK, only to hand it over to Brussels ? Thatcher, Westminster, Conservatives & Labour are NOT the problem - SNP arrogance and incompetence is.

It is called first past the post. Those who do not participate do not count. Its their choice. Corbyn had two impressive vote percentages in two elections. So what? Where did that get him? You label him as a failure. Margaret Thatcher and the Conservatives have been winning elections for decades with most parties voting against them. But you have all up to now been lauding that as an impressive winning machine. The SNP have been doing it in recent years in Scotland also. They'd vote the party most likely to win a constituency after the snp instead of the party theyd usually support or register with.
