The secret in power steering system is the pump and the smoothing the pressure to stabilize the jerking and more control. The Chrysler Horizon test first power steering was so dangerous at high speed in freeway. But french researcher add on spring load at two end smooth out and keep the power steering stabilized in smooth steering at any speed
QUESTION, I drive a 2016 honda odyssey. when i drive short distances within the city, power steering fluid barely goes down, but say i do a 2 hour road trip, its under the minimum level, what's the issue?
my car squeals when I first start up in the morning with the steering hard to turn for about 5 minutes or so.. before I drive, I rotate the steering right and left, and after a few minutes it seems to "heal" and works normally after that with no issue or squeals. It seems to me that it could be air getting into the rack possibly (guessing). What would you look at if this squealing only happens with its been sitting overnight? I also noticed it is possibly greater when the temperature is colder than warmer (maybe fluid more viscous when warmed up??). I was thinking maybe a leak, but cannot locate it, or possibly air cavitation if low, but level is not showing low. I ried flushing out the system thinking some contaminated fluid might be still in the rack spool. Hope you might have an idea to drive toward. ARRGGHH! Is there a way possibly to completely remove all fluid totally to replace? reaching for straws at this point..
Could y’all do a rack and pinion replacement video for a 2002 Honda Civic LX. Would love to do the repair myself with the help of a video from you guys!
Are the reservoir caps vented on 1999 chevy truck 5.7 ? I don't drive it often, but have lost ps fluid. Washed the engine compartment yesterday and I can find no leak today. I wonder if it's building up too much pressure. Thanks in advance!
So I absolutely need to see a video on how the power steering reservoir is put in cause the vehicle I bought doesn't have that or the power steering pump, wasn't told it didn't have either and is the reason I can't move the wheel to either side unless the car is moving forward or backwards .
I want to ask if the reserve tank is almost full above max level the oil come back to reserve tank can be pressure and leak a little bit from the hoes attach to the reserve tank i have 2001 honda civic i have swap the engine to d15b from a dragster garage and trans with 2001 power steering rebuild( rack, pump, seals, hoses etc) but little leak i don't know why is that maybe because to high level in reserve tank
for my hyundai azera i learned very late that this forgotten steering fluid reservoir have built in filter! & when it's clogged it causes poor car stability, stiff steering & steering pump noises! i was pulling my hair to figure out the cause unstable steering my car! by the way all you need to drain the fluid is from the return pipe of the reservoir then jack up the car & turning the steering wheel repeatedly both ways (without starting the engine) untill it drained out
I have fluid flow out of the cap after the engine is shut off, the levels are perfect and it will do it untill the resivuar is totally empty. Doesn't do it while it's running..
+David Daniels Thanks for checking us out. We would recommend taking this to a mechanic to have them properly diagnose this issue so there is no damage that ends up occurring due to this. 1AAuto.com
I just noticed a whining noise when I step on he gas and turn the steering wheel. I looked and noticed the power steering reservoir empty. I'm shocked because I have my oil changed every 5000 miles and that's just coming up. Now, here's the big booboo. I went onto amazon and typed in Mopar power steering wheel +4 fluid as I was going to add and then go to the dealership. I didn't pay attention when I purchased the fluid - I added it and noticed it didn't have a red hue. It was more clear. I then asked on Amazon if Hydraulic power steering fluid is the norm for a 2017 Dodge Journey and I got a reply "No". So now I'm afraid to drive it to the dealer. I'm thinking I should get a flush to drain the fluid - never did that before. Not only that, but I am worried about why the reservoir was empty to begin with. I've never seen a leak on the floor of my garage. Because of COVID, I've been working from home the majority of these last 5 months. If I can find out whether I can at least drive the vehicle to the dealer which is 9 miles away with the hydraulic fluid or if it would damage something, I'd really like to know.

Thanks this video was very Informative and will really help me with diagnosing where my power steering leak is coming from

What an excellent demonstration video. All I've been able to find are terrible animations about the concept rather than how it actually looks.

You have a leak sorry I’m 3 years late lol and probably sold the car already

Thanks! very handy! My power steering fluid resivoir is covered in fluid... So I am going to guess that is the problem!
+TERRORoftheLORD Thank you for your feedback!
What if my power steering fluid is coming out from the top of the reservoir cap every time I turn the steering wheel? It gushes it out
will power steering oil level reduce without leakage

2013 Ram Hemi 5.7 L 4X4 steering locks when 1st started
My steering wheel is hard to move but I changed my serpentine belt not too long ago,
I need a power pump for my 2005 Nissan Altima.. Would you recommend a New power steering pump or is okay to buy a refurbished Power steering pump?
Hi did you figure a solution ? I also have a Nissan Altima 2005 with the same problem.
Get rid of it mine had a leak and caught fire totaled
How about when it leaks from tiny pinched holes in the hose
Can it drain your fluid drastically or is that just a small leak
Hi both power steering fluid and the transmission fluid both lead out in the same what does that mean
Transmissions are usually sealed meaning they don’t leak as often as parts on a power steering system
Or it can be as simple as a loose or broken o ring on the reservoir cap
great video, thank you very much
+Steven Luciano Thanks for checking us out. 1aauto.com
Also when power steering fluid disappears it might be leaking inside the engine through the vacuum valve that damaged
My car squeak when i turn the wheel wat can it be?

God bless you all
Yeah, that "really" told me how it works... Great that you "delivered on your promise"! 😕

Just flush it
